Ok, I know Media Center Master is highly recommended here but for some reason this is one of the most confusing programs I have ever used.
How do I change the metadata? I have the movie '9' for example. It scanned it as 'District 9'. I cannot figure out how to change this.
I recall using metabrowser a while back and before it fetched the data it would give you a page to confirm that all the movies/tv shows were correct before it actually retrieved the data.
Is there a way to set this up to do so?

I just looked up the movie 9, on IMDB. Try changing your movie title to "9 (I) (2009)" Minus the parenthesis. I don't know what the I is for, but that's the way IMDB lists it. I always name my movies exactly the way IMDB lists them. Also, you should always put the year a movie came out, in parenthesis, after every movie title.

When I want to change my metadata, I double click on Media Center Master to open the program. It has all of my tv shows and movies listed on the left. Right click on a movie, and select "Organize Files and Edit Metadata." You can also right click a movie, and select "Artwork Manager," which will allow you to add, delete, and change you posters and backdrops.

I have the years for all of my movies.
For some reason 9 is working now without renaming.
However... I have the 4 Die Hard Movies.
It is calling the original from 1988 the same as 'Live Free Or Die Hard'... so I have 2 of these listed.
I goto organize files like you mentioned.
Change the info on that page... imdb# 'original title' 'sorting title' production year'....click save.
Nothing changes in my media collection list. The wrong cover art and description are still there....

.......ok, getting this figured out as I reply.
For this to completely work. I change the info on the organize files screen.
Then from the main screen I had to right click and have it 'fetch meta data' again.
I had to delete my posters artwork etc.... I had it fetch again and then it got the correct artwork.
You would think that when you change an IMDB # in the organize screen it would do all that automatically....

Getting the hang of it now though.... Thanks!

Just when I was thinging about switching from My Movies to Media Center Master. It is things like this that keep me from switching, I still think My Movies has the best and most accurate data base.

Its not the database, it just polls imdb. 98% of the time I have zero issues. Sometimes there are movies that have the same name that it has issues with. I agree that it could have a better way to handle these conflicts. for example: Gladiator (russell crowe) was showing up as some mid-80's boxing movie called The Gladiator. I mean, obviously it should poll the rating of the movie and pick the more popular one, to avoid these kind of conflicts. its a quick fix though, just edit metadata and manually put in the IMDB ID code, clearing everything else out. it'll re-download the correct info automatically.

It looks pretty good and easy to use....
But what do you use for TV?

I actually use an older program called TV Scout, don't know if it is even around any more.

It's called MediaScout now. There is the old 0.9 beta 2a and a new 3.0 version. I still use the old version. The new version is ok, but has some bugs. The biggest one was that it added an extra space between the season and the number, and that screwed everything up in my system. I had to go back and delete the extra space for every season by hand, not fun. You can download both versions here:

http://tvscout.codeplex.com/releases/view/22953

TV Series make up about 90% of my media collection. I always run every new or newly modified series through MediaScout first. It does a great job organizing and renaming the files and downloading the default artwork. If I don't like any of the defaults stuff, I go back in and edit the series with an old(free) version of MetaBrowser. It usually works out fine, but lately I have been having trouble grabbing artwork with the old MetaBrowser. If it lists 16 backdrops available, at least half will give me "404, not found" errors.

I would really love to switch over to Media Center Master for everything. The developer Pete seems like a really great guy who is doing everything right. I'd be more than happy to give him some money for his hard work. Unfortunately, I just can't seem to get MCM to work with my media collection. And I have tried at least a half a dozen times with different versions of MCM. I think the basic problem is that MCM seems to be written mainly for the bit torrent/rss crowd that just constantly downloads new stuff and dumps it into one big folder and lets MCM take it from there. My setup is quite different from that and MCM seems to just want to fight me at every turn.

Unfortunately for me, MediaScout 0.9 and the old MetaBrowser aren't going to last forever. Both are unsupported and it is inevitable that TMDB.org and TVDB.org will eventually change their current .API's. When that happens both programs will be completely useless and I will have a tough decision to make. I will either have to give in and buy the paid version of metabrowser or entirely scrap my current TV setup and reorganize it for MCM. Neither option is very appealing, but I may get lucky and My Movies may actually deliver on its' long promised version the includes TV support. But somehow, I don't ever see that actually happening.

Check out the Development section of the Knowledge Base, there are lots of useful topics there that should get you started.

I've got some Bluray ISO's that stutter (picture only, the audio is fine) when I play them thru media browser with TMT3 as the player. Other Bluray rips play fine. If I play them outside of Media Browser with TMT3, they play perfectly. Anyone have an idea as to why the video would stutter with MB but not when played with just TMT3?

Ok I tried out Media Center Master last night and Meta Browser again. Trying to replace My Movies to download trailers also.

Right off the bat I see two things that make Media Center Master a no go.

1) No aspect ratio, I have to have that
2) Doesn't look like it downloads up coming trailers
post #3433 of 4018
I haven't found a metadata scrapper that automatically grabs the aspect ratio. I end up looking it up on Amazon, and then using meta to add the aspect ratio to the metadata manually.

I tried MetaBrowser 2.0 out last night and I was sure that it was putting it their.

My Movies does this for you, correct for what ever version of the disk you have. Yet another reason that I don't want to move from it. Maybe what I need to do is try and use MetaBrowser just for backdrop, trailers, and upcoming traielrs. If that is even possible, have it not tuch the meta data. Just a hassle having to use two programs to add movies.

I use mediainfo to get the specs of each video file as a enter the info into "metabrowser". It's a very handy (free) program!

Has anyone been able to successfully get TMT5 to work with media browser and blu-ray folders?

I've applied the unofficial hotfix which allows the movie to play, but it's not fullscreen.

Plus, my remote doesn't work... or at least the back button doesn't take me to WMC. I'm having problems. Anyone get it right or do we just have to wait for Arcsoft to fix it?

The temporary fix for this is to create a shortcut for umcedvdplayer.exe, modify the shortcut and set it to run Maximized. Go into mediabrowser configuration and use the shortcut to playback blu-ray movies.

until they fix the back button issue you can continue to use the green button to bring mediacenter back up.

Hope that helps.

If you're using MediaBrowser to launch TMT5 and want to take advantage of the full screen workaround, but are having problems, here are some more detailed instructions. Thanks to Jason and TrackZ on the Arcsoft forum...

This workaround assumes you have already run the MediaBrowser configurator and selected "uMCEPlayer5.exe" as an external player for Blu-Ray, DVD, or both, and are experiencing TMT5 opening in a window instead of full-screen when launched by MediaBrowser.

1. Open Windows Explorer and navigate to the TMT5 installation foler.
By default this is "C:\\Program Files (x86)/Arcsoft/TotalMedia Theatre 5".
2. Right click on uMCEPlayer5.exe and select "Create Shortcut".
3. If you see this; "Windows can't create a shortcut here. Do you want the shortcut to be placed on the desktop instead?", click "Yes".
4. If necessary, go to your desktop, find the new shortcut and rename it to "uMCEPlayer5" (i.e. delete the junk at the end).
5. Right click the shortcut and select "Properties".
6. Change the drop down box next to "Run" from "Normal Window" to "Maximize" and select OK.
7. If necessary, move the shortcut back to the TMT5 installation folder.
If you see this; "You'll need to provide administrator permission to move to this folder..." select "Continue".
8. As a sanity check, verify the TMT5 installation folder now contains both uMCEPlayer5.exe and a shortcut named uMCEPlayer5.
9. Open Windows Explorer. If you're not set up to display hidden files, in the "Organize" drop down menu select "Folder and Search Options". Then, in the View tab, select "Show hidden files, folders, and drives" and select "OK".
10. Navigate to the (hidden) folder C:\\ProgramData\\MediaBrowser.
11. Right click on MediaBrowserXml.config and select "Edit".
12. Search for one or two lines like this;
C:\\Program Files (x86)\\ArcSoft\\TotalMedia Theatre 5\\uMCEPlayer5.exe
13. Replace ".exe" with ".lnk", so the line(s) look like this;
C:\\Program Files (x86)\\ArcSoft\\TotalMedia Theatre 5\\uMCEPlayer5.lnk
14. Select File->Save and close the file.

You might want to make hidden files invisible again.

Let me know if this works for you, or if you find any errors.

P.S. I'm still having stutter problems, but this workaround addresses the opens in a window bug.

I had already found this fix and it works fine for opening TMT5 in fullscreen as described.
But, how are you able to get TMT5 to close and get back to MediaBrowser?
In TMT3 I can hit STOP on my Harmony 900 and the BACK button get me back to MB. This doesn't work for TMT5.
Thanks

Until TMT is fixed, you'll have to use the "Green" button. Back is broken.

I'm having some problems with a tv series I ripped off of a DVD. Normally, if I have a movie on DVD, I just use AnyDVDHD to rip the whole disc to video_ts folder. And I have AnyDVDHD set up to "Jump directly to main movie." For tv series on DVD, I have AnydvdHD running in the background, while I use DVD Shrink to separate each episode into it's own video_ts folder.

My problem, is that I can't easily separate each episode from the anime: "One Piece" on DVD. When I look at the DVD in DVD Shrink, under the Re-author tab, it shows one lump of time: 2hours 52min. 2sec. Other tv series on DVD would show each 24 minute episode individually. I tried manually separating each episode by setting the start and end frame, but I found this to be too time consuming.

So I'm giving up on separating each episode. Instead I'm going to rip the entire DVD to either a video_ts folder or iso. Now here's my problem, I don't know how to name the resulting video_ts folder so that it will look right in Media Browser. Should I have it set up like this: One Piece/Season 1/One Piece s01e01-07/Video_TS? (There are seven episodes on the disc.) I just tried that, and Media Center Master fetched the metadata for episode 1 only. I don't know what to do.

So i tried out media center master and it worked ok. mostly my errors. I also tried My movies. It worked about the same. Just have to play with it.

Real thing for me is the covers. i seemed to only be able to find normal dvd covers offered. I like to have the bluray covers for my bluray rips and the normal dvd covers for th edvd rips. Am i missing an option in either program to fetch bluray covers?

Media Browser actually puts the covers on based on DVD or BluRay using the cover art plugin.

-to tehowell

I did the trick you described sending media browser to the TMT5 .lnk by editing the xml file. TMT5 opens from media browser in full screen but for some reason the workaround breaks BD folder playback. TMT5 launches in full screen but doesn't start the movie.

AND... I still have remote problems when TMT5 does work. Menu navigation works, but none of the playback controls work (or the 'back' button). And yes, I have the remote keys mapped properly for TMT5 in my iMon software.

ANOTHER bug that I have with TMT5 is that if I have mounted an .iso and then stop playback and then try to launch a different movie from media browser that is in folder structure... it launches the previously mounted .iso movie instead!!!

I'm really shocked how poor TMT5 is. I'm going back to TMT3 which is near perfect, but lacks 3D support.

I have been growing increasingly frustrated with Media Browser caching issues that still have not gone away. All too often I go into my Media Browser library and covers are missing and I have to wait for them to reappear (not good for the WAF). All my covers are stored locally. I have this issue on all of my HTPCs that run Media Browser. I use the Coverat Plugin which I am starting to wonder if that is the culprit, so I may try disabling and see if the problems go away. It just appears as if Media Browser is constantly trying to re cache everything, and it has definitely soured my experience with MB.

For me it's kinda like the other way round...

Since I started using cover art it's been quite a nice experience...

I must confess however that I had to create a folder for each iso file and used media center master to download all metadata.

Before installing cover art, I created a folder called "rips" on each hard drive and just dumped all the iso rips into one directory. This resulted in missing covers and sometimes it took about 20 minutes before a missing cover showed up again.

I noticed that after creating a separate folder for each iso file, media center master puts all metadata in the same folder as the iso file, and since then the issue about missing covers simply wasn't there anymore.

Don't know what your setup looks like, but this is what I did to get past the missing cover issue...

my setup is the same as your for the most part, but instead of MCM I use metabrowser (I dont rely on Media Browser to get any of my artwork). It isn't necessarily that covers are missing but almost moreso like Media Browser is re caching evrything which makes no sense. I can wait, move the cursor around, etc... while the covers load and then everything looks fine, but then I go back into Media Browser a few days later and same. When I have some time I will kill coverart to see if that is the culprit
