Media Browser: Great alternative to DVD Library/My Movies/Movie Collector - Page 127

Media Browser displays excessively long movie plot descriptions. I use Media Center Master to download all of my backgrounds and movie xml files. When I open up an xml file for one of my movies, I notice that there are several different portions of the file that could be used by Media Browser, to display a plot description. In the xml file, the 'Description' and the 'Synopsis' are excessively long. It seems like Media Browser is using either the Description or Synopsis. I don't want it to use either of these. I would prefer it to use the 'Outline' or 'Short Description' from the xml file. Is there any way to change which of these Media Browser uses?

Media Browser "Atlas" has been release to the wild. Head on over to the Community Tracker and download it.

Doesn't look like it.
I am using Chocolate. Updating my guides right now.
Yeah, looks like they marked it as available. Earlier it was listed as unavailable with 2.6.

I have added a section to my guides (for those that use them) on using the internal Media Browser scraper.

Enjoy.

I did a little experiment with Face Off:

Created a new blank folder with a blank VIDEO_TS folder inside it.
I renamed the new folder as Face Off (1997) and let Media Browser scrap the data. And it worked, MB found the correct meta-data for the movie.

Try it and see if it works for you. If it does then simply delete the VIDEO_TS folder and move your current movie file inside the new Face Off folder.

Good Luck!

Anybody using this yet? Does MB now support returning to the point you left off (in MPC-HC)?

Yeah, it worked correctly for me as well with this name, but only in Atlas.

I have never had a problem launching TMT5 from MB. I use the MCE version of TMT5.

It was easy. A little time consuming and I'm not sure I did it right, but what worked for me was to just download and install over the 2.5.3(?). The I cleared all the metadata from my files that media center master put in and after I configured the new internal metadata scraper I just let 2.6 do it's thing...

Just download and overwrite - no need to re-scrape metadata with internal fetcher if you already have it and use MCM - unless of course you want to - just seems a waste of time.

No need for it to be any more time consuming than downloading and overwriting - no need to clear and re-scrape metadata. The information you had in place from MCM was perfectly good. In fact, having tested the internal scraper I would suggest that anyone considering using MB continue to use, or start using MCM. In my experience metascraping is still flaky using internal scrapers, particularly with TV Series.

Otherwise its a terrific release (especially the enhancements to external players - resume playback particularly). The whole experience now seems more rounded and professional than previous versions. Very snappy too. Certainly the equal to or better than both XBMC and Media Portal. Well done everyone concerned.

2.6 with the chocolate theme is not showing subtitles when playing .mkv files which include subtitles. When I right click the screen with an .mkv file playing it does not show the MPC-HC menu. I am not getting a PowerDVD 11 menu. I am really getting more of a windows media center menu at the bottom of the screen but I did not think 7MC played .mkv files. So, I am not sure what program is playing the .mkv and I need some advice on how to turn on subtitles. I used the diamond theme with previous versions of media browser.

I have made MPC-HC an external player. Media Browser 2.6 now uses MPC-HC and I can get subtitles. If anyone knows if the internal media browser2.6 player will show subtitles, please post your configuration.

Media Browser has no player at all. If you don't define one is is passed off to the Windows Media Center player

Media Browser 2.6 Atlas release notes highlights say:
Highlights:
•True searching with an on-screen keyboard has been added at all levels. The search screen is produced with ctl-s or the yellow button on your remote or via a search button in the theme
•Box sets are now a recognized type and can have their metadata downloaded by the internal internet providers. To designate a folder as a box set simply include “[BoxSet]” in the folder name.
•Playback has been completely revamped for both the internal and external players. Media Browser now has built-in support for MPC-HC, TMT5 and VLC2 offering position tracking and resume support
•External players can now be setup by both media type and video format (standard or 3D)
•A “Play All From Here” context menu has been added for episodes
•A number of defects with the internal player have been resolved
•The internal metadata providers have been improved in both their ability and speed. You can now have them save a local copy of all metadata and images which can greatly reduce the amount of time required for subsequent refreshes.
•If you use the internal tmdb provider, it can automatically download actor images
•Problems starting the service and configurator when MB is not installed in the default location have been solved
•Many, many more features and bug fixes.

Clearly, I did not understand what they meant by internal players by which they must mean 7MC. Further, I did not know 7MC plays .mkv files without the Shark007 codec pack.

I appreciate that 2.6 will play .mkv files and it does so quickly and smoothly. However, it is a limited player in that it does not currently allow subtitles to be selected for viewing. I suspect others will want capabilities the internal player does not have yet.

Yellow button for the OS Keyboard Searching. Awesome. I'll be trying that out tonignt.

The resume feature works great. I've been using it for several days now.

I have a problem with 2.6. I am now getting a problem where all my movies (other than the deeply nested ones) are causing a pop up error message saying something like "this is a movie and not a folder, it should be a folder". All of my movies are in their own folders. The only ones not giving me the error are ones inside an additional folder. For example:

O:\Shooter\Shooter.ISO - ERROR
O:\SciFi\Aeon Flux\Aeon.ISO - NO ERROR

I had to roll back to using 2.5

I thought I saw somebody else report this too but I haven't had any issues (yet). I hope I don't either.

Yes it is not worded very well when they do that. But anytime it says "internal player" they mean the WMC Player, MB has no player.

As for WMC playing MKV I can't help, I try and stay as far away from them files as possible...

Why would you do that?

Okay, I pushed the yellow button on my Harmony 900 and nothing. I don't think it is mapped in the H900 right now. Do I need to map it to MCE ==> Yellow in the Harmony software?
