correct you need to install Media Center from App store. There is new a new unofficial installer for MB that seems to work, I now have all my meta-data and images back, but some of the plug-ins still have issues.

Hello.

I have a problem. I'm using Media Center Master to gather all the informations about my movies, but it shows the titles in english. I would like it to show them in my native languague, is that possible? If so, how can I do it?

Best regards,

Quick question. Just got my HTPC yesterday and have moved a few of my BluRay's to.mkv & using Media Browser plugin. When it downloads info of the movies it shows all of them as 16:9 but the case, and when I play them they are 2:40~1 (or what ever). Any thoughts how why or how to get it to download the proper specs?

Use Media Center Master.

Thanks. Will try that this evening.

One reason is because a Blu-Ray movie is 1920x1080, regardless of the aspect ratio of the film. For a 2.40:1 film, the black bars are encoded as part of that 1080 vertical resolution.

Well guys, its official... An "Official" release of Media Browser that works with Windows 8 that is. Head on over to Media Browser and get a copy for yourself. As far a release notes and list of bug fixes, their really isn't any. That's why the Media Browser Developers decided to call this rendition "Micros". Basically the only thing worked on was the internal movie fetcher... We're hoping the metadata fetching works better for those who utilize it.

Merry Christmas fellow Media Browser enthusiasts!

Wake me up when they have .iso, and blu-ray disks playing with mpc-hc natively, PowerDVD 11 shutting down completely after playing a disc and reliable movement from live TV to recorded TV to the add in players.

Maybe this is a dumb question, but I couldn't find anything yet. I know that there's a way to make a desktop shortcut to Media Browser by using the /entrypoint:{CE32C570-4BEC-4aeb-AD1D-CF47B91DE0B2}\{FC9ABCCC-36CB-47ac-8BAB-03E8EF5F6F22} flag.

However, that just jumps into the Enhanced Home Screen.

Is there any sort of flag that can jump directly into my TV or Movies sections within Media Browser? I was considering attempting to figure out if it's possible to do an entirely custom setup in Windows 8, which would use desktop shortcuts on the Windows 8 start screen to jump directly to each section of Media Center, so that I would have pinned shortcuts to jump directly to Live TV, Recorded TV, the Program Guide, and my TV and Movies sections within Media Browser.

The former seems to all be possible in my playing around with it, but I can't figure out if the Media Browser stuff is.

Edit: Scratch that, I figured it out myself by searching the registry; the entry points are all enumerated at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Media Center\Extensibility\Entry Points

MPC recently stopped exiting fullscreen and returning to mediabrowser when closing a movie. It stays at a black, full screen. Which settings could be the culprit?

I have a similar issue with TMT5 where it'll get stuck on an empty blue (WMC themed blue) screen when returning to WMC after playing a Blu-ray from .iso file. It works well most of the time in Blu-ray folder format. But I have to leave my 3D Blu-rays in .iso format.

MyMovies doesn't seem to have this issue.

Media Browser is displaying the following error on loading my movie library. All other libraries (TV Series, Bond007, etc) load just fine. I tried re-entering the network paths to all my media and even rolled back to a time when this wasn't happening. Once launching Movies in MB it doesn't show any of my library.

I tried to do a screen shot of the pop up explaining the error but was not able to capture it before it disappeared. Here is what it says:
Code:
INVALID ROOT ITEM
WARNING: Item Movies is resolving to a be a Movie. All root level items must be folders.
Check that this item isn't being mistaken because it is a folder with only a couple items
and you have the playlist functionality enabled.

Has anybody seen this before?

Any suggestions?

EDIT1: I did a repair using Control Panel > Programs and Feature and it is now showing my library but with double entries. Now to see about cleaning that up..
EDIT2: After messing with my library in MB Configurator to get rid of duplicates the error returned.
EDIT3: I installed the latest version 2.6.2 and the issue persists.

Make sure none of your movie folders are named as if they were actually video files (with an extension like .avi or .mkv).

That might be it as when I click on Movies it will allow me to play the last movie I added but it thinks that this movie is the C:\Program Data\MediaBrowser\StartupFolder\Movies.vf file.

I tried deleting that and re-added only the folder containing my most recent mkv's and the error persited so it makes sense that this might be the issue.

I cannot deal with this until later, probably tomorrow.

To anyone who has dealt with TV shows that have had their episodes aired out of order relative to the show's production order (AKA "DVD order") by editing the .xml file(s), I have a question.

I found by searching this thread that such a show can have its .xml file edited in Notepad to reflect the production order rather than the broadcast order. The show "Firefly", for example, is correctable in this way. (Refer to posts #3861-3864 in this thread.)

There are a couple shows in my library which have an additional layer of complexity. In the case of the aformentioned "Firefly", the out-of-order episodes are contained within a single season, since Firefly only lasted for one season. However, the shows I need to fix for out-of-order episodes span over 2 seasons. For instance, the current TV season broadcast for these shows have included episodes produced during the present season as well as some episodes produced last season which have never been aired.

The shows in question are the ABC comedies "Happy Endings" and "Don't Trust the B---- In Apartment 23". If anyone has any suggestions for me, your input would be very much appreciated. TIA smile.gif

The last movie that I ripped was not in its own folder for some reason. I guess when I ripped it I didn't have the target right in MakeMKV. Anyhow, I moved it into its own folder and the issue went away. Too bad the error message in MB is so cryptic or did not offer more insight into how to fix the problem.

I've been happily using MB for a couple of years now, with Zoomplayer (using MadVR, Lav) as my external player for all video files. The only time the default WMC player kicked in was if I chose "Play All" from folder, or "Play All From Here" within a folder (of tv episodes, for instance) The WMC player also worked with the MB Music plugin.

As of about a month ago, the WMC player no longer works at all, for videos or music, from within WMC/MB. If I choose 'Play All' or 'Play All from Here', I get no error messages, it just sits there and does nothing. I've also noticed that WMP is no longer available as an "Open with..." choice in Windows Explorer when I right-click on a file. I can navigate to it if I select 'Choose Default Player..' and then it plays fine. So WMP is still there, and functional. It just seems to have been demoted.

I've tried removing WMC and WMP through the Windows Programs and Features interface, and then reinstalling them. That made no difference. Reinstalling MB didn't help either. I also tried removing ZP as default player through the MB configurator... same results, nothing plays from within WMC/MB, no error messages.

System: Win 7 Pro 32 bit; MB 2.6.2; Diamond skin (but I've tried with default MB skin also); ZP 8;

Any clues what else to try? Do I have to reinstall Win 7?

Does your Windows 7 machine have a restore point going back to "about a month ago" that you can reset the system to? FYI, a full-system restoration from a full-system backup (done via Norton Ghost, Acronis True Image, or the like) is a perfect way to resolve this kind of software-related problem (i.e. "the system was running perfectly for me, and then one day a major problem began for no apparent reason").

Sorry, I forgot to include that information. I'm a devout believer, and user, of restore points, and I did try that. However, the system came back with "Unable to restore to earlier system point" or words to that effect... One of the very few times I've had that happen! I also have nightly full backups from an HP MediaServer but they didn't go back far enough in this case.

UPDATE: I just finished running a Windows 7 Upgrade install to repair the system, and we're in business again! Strange thing is... videos are now playing with ZoomPlayer when selected with 'Play All' or 'Play All from Here'... which is what I would have preferred from the beginning. Go figure...

Music now plays from the WMC Music library, but not from the MBMusic plugin within MB. Oh well.

How does Zoomplayer compare with MP-HC?

They both allow you to define your own renderers, codecs, and filters, and if you use the same ones in both the video will be pretty much identical. The main reason I use ZP instead of MPC-HC is because it has a very nice dependable screensaver built in, and I don't want my new 65" plasma to suffer from any image retention if I need to pause a movie. Of course, ZP isn't free, but I've used it for years, so just keep upgrading.

Reading at the MB forum, I saw something about the possibility MB 3 might be freestanding, instead of within WMC. Is that true? One less layer of complexity sounds like a good thing!

Does it have true >> and << or does it have 30 second skip?

ZP has true 8X FF and RW, which works fine with the MKV files I use.
Does it have less than 8x ff.. like 2x and 4x?

It's very highly customizable. From their help page:

'Media Fast Forward Rate
This value controls the default Fast Forward speed. Values range from x2 to x50.

Media Rewind Rate
This value controls the default Rewind speed. Values range from x2 to x50. '
