As long as it also have a WMC plugin, for those of us who think it works great as is, then I am fine with it. smile.gif

Yep, that's the main difference, ZP is incredibly capable if you want to tweak things. But it can get frustrating if you're not careful, in some cases it's almost as if there are TOO MANY options. smile.gif I've used both and have stuck with MPC because it's customizable enough for me.

Back to FF and REW. Does Zoomplayer allow that to be variably adjusted depending no how long or how many button presses there are on the remote or is the speed only fixed in the settings so you need to find a middle ground speed that suits your taste?

If I go to MB3, I'd like to be able to use it within WMC myself as I use WMC for TV tuning due to copy once content.

Why use MB3 then?? If MB2.X works for you... Why would you upgrade?? This is the same reason I refuse to upgrade to W8.
I would guess that the big new feature would be that it was free standing and would be a Win8 full screen app. It would also then be usable on a Surface Pro and maybe there would be an RT version as well.

Even on Win7 if it was free standing I could easily see myself launching directly to it at boot up. It would be very c/e like and less PC like that way.

There may be other features worth the upgrade, no?

For me, if it doesn't bring anything I need to the table I won't upgrade. 2.6.2 is working quite well for me.

When I can break out of WMC7 for copy protected CATV content I'll do that too. Right now WMC is my only choice for that content using an HTPC.

I am still on 2.5.0.0 and won't upgrade unless something breaks.

I still use ZP in my bedroom PC as a streamer without WMC or MB. You can set FF/RW to whatever you like. I have my FF set to 52x. They also have a setting to advance x seconds while in FF mode by pressing the Next Chapter button. I set that to 300 seconds. So when I press FF it starts scrolling through the video at 52x and if I then hit the N.Chap. button, it jumps ahead 5 minutes and continues FFing. It's really quite nice.

Does >| and |< otherwise respect chapter marks in an mkv ripped from a Blu-ray disc?

I take that holding down or double pressing >> or << does not change the speed at which it fast forwards or rewinds.

Sorry, I don't have any .mkv's with chapter marks intact to test.

FF/RW speed is constant. The buttons work as toggles.
Thanks.. That clears it up. So I can choose between having the >> and << keys skip a preset amount in MPC-HC or a preset speed in ZP.

Does anyone else know if ZP respects chapter marks unless told to do otherwise?

That is exactly the point. If it does what I want and brings improvements as well, I will upgrade to 3.x. If not, then I will not.

You have all brought up good points, and even ideas that might even be supported by Media Browser 3 on launch day... But unfortunately, there are going to be much needed (wanted) features that the Devs plan on adding that wont be supported on day one. Keep in mind, Rome wasn't built in a day. Believe me, you guys are going to be amazed on Feb 4th... Just a couple more days. Hang in there.

Is there going to be a new thread for this one to replace as a sticky ?? For MB3 ?

LOL, no offense intended by any means, but I don't think this thread was ever intended to be a sticky

Mediabrowser has come a pretty long way from the screenshots in the original post before MB3, and it looks like they've got plenty of interest in keeping it going

I've commented before about the usefulness/current state of the stickies and the response was that stickies aren't going to change for some un-named forum software reason
post #3978 of 4018
Yeah. I think all the stickies should be replaced. They are all dated.
I'm content with MB2 for right now, but if they get that Blu-Ray menu thing working, that will be reason alone to convert.

I'm also considering moving my HTPC to a virtualbox on my server and just using extenders for Live and Recorded TV. If I do that, then I'll make my HTPC in the living room (and share to the bedroom via splitter) just for all my other media. In that scenario, having a stand alone product, especially a Win8 one makes more sense than having the overhead of Windows Media Center.

Free open source software cannot afford the Java license for the BD-J menus. I'm so over menus now it is ridiculous. MB is my menu.
I'm refering to the menu they showed in the MB3 demo using Avatar. It's not a real BD-J menu, but it had screenshot and metadata for the extras. I don't generally watch extras, but my wife loves them. I tried an AnyDVD speed menu once for a disc I was having problems with and she was not exactly enthusiatic about just the file size info showing.

Can't agree with you more. With MBIntros... who needs outdated previews, MBIntros shows different coming soon to theater previews each time you press play.

Well, as I could never resist ruining a working setup by installing the latest and greatest, I guess I can install MB3 and update the first post with new screenshots smile.gif

Amen to that, been using it since it was in Beta still. No menu or extra rips for me, just main movie.

I did not know that lol. I was recently watching/reading some stuff and saw quite a bit of tweaks that I like and think I am going to try at some point. I just kinda of kept it simple and my functionality as basic as it is still makes me very happy smile.gif.
