Did I talk too soon?

I tried this latest release on my main HTPC (Vista 32) and nothing, just a blank screen, lot's of CPU though but it stays that way indefinately (or the 20 minutes or so that I could keep the kids away from the TV for!)

I did do a complete uninstall and have tried reinstalling twice now.

Anyone have any ideas?

Oh, no problem then. Easy fix for me...just wait.

I have to agree with the overall affection for this program. I wasn't impressed with MyMovies and gave up using it after a few days. My family didn't like that program either.

But, with MediaBrowser, everyone uses it and it works really well. It's a great front end-elegant in its simplicity.

I have another problem. My HDM is not showing up in the list.

I have the following physical drives:

C: (OS)
D: (HDM - ISOs and MKVs)
E: (DVDs in folder format)

I have the "My Videos" folder (the Windows folder) redirected to E:\\Videos, since I had all my DVDs ripped there first.

I added D: to the watched folder location. For some reason, it would not let me add just a subfolder. No idea why. The HDM is located in D:\\HDM\\ISO\\\\ and D:\\HDM\\MKV\\\\

None of the ISOs or MKVs show up in Video Browser.

I'm still working my way through the software installation since I built my HTPC yesterday, and I'm looking forward to getting MB installed. I really like throgmorton's skin for it as well, I hope it's implemented as a choice in the main program!

MB is very addictive, the whole family loves it...i think i find myself messing iwth it, trying to fine tune it more than i do watching moving on it, but it is all part of the fun, so much to do with it, very customizable which i love.

Download the Windows version of MediaInfo (google for it). Install this app, then copy the 'mediainfo.dll' file from the installation folder to your System32 folder. You don't need to register it, MB should just detect it and use it. This will not work for ISO rips or standard DVD VOB rips, but it work a treat for most single file movies. You also get extra info in the detail view of the movie (resolution, video/audio bitrate etc)

thanks for the instructions, works like a charm..only things.
1. mine just give me 1080 or 720 does not say HD but that is ok.
2. Anyway to downsize the 1080 720 ( font sizes i mean?) i guess it is the view that i am using but it looks like it is swallowing up a bit of the post.

thanks

1. for DVDs
2. for Movies

where is what my main page of MB looks like using these icons (which i love)

I had that problem also. What I did was to make shortcuts for every movie folder in the "My Videos" folder. I have my movies spread over 7 external hdd's, and it sees them all. Basically my "My Videos" folder doesn't have any actual videos in it, just a ton of shortcuts to the individual folders on all the hard drives.

Works great.

AH! Excellent Idea!

I will simply create a shortcut in the My Movies folder to where the actual video resides, and Windows THINKS it is in the My Movies folder.

Brilliant!

EDIT: It works.
Also, If I put in a link to the HDM folder (instead of to each individual movie folder), I get a HDM folder in the view. Inside that folder is a listing of all the HDM folders...each one showing up as the movie. It is a quick and dirty way of organizing the movies.

I have a LOT of history type movies...so I am going to move them into a folder called History and clean up my view.

MoNkKorD, If you PM me so we can exchange pictures, I'd be more than happy to Photoshop you one for DVDs and Movies. Let me know if your interested. I really like your icons btw.

if you can do that it would be great..I will PM you.

I also can't take any credit for the icons a link was posted somewhere in the early pages of the thread, they are suppose to be used for the genre sorting, but i prefer to use them just for main page.

I've finally installed this and have PowerDVD 8 Ultra for my Blu-Ray movies. I've ripped all my Blu-Rays into ISO's. How do I get this program and WMC to automatically play the Blu-Rays? Whenever I try, I get a message that the file can't be found.

FYI - I'm using windows 7 beta.

EDIT: I'm slowly figuring it out via this thread. I'll try and get it up and running when I get home tonight.

Were you able to find a way to change the VMC icon that is used for MB? I absolutely love this program and so does the DW which is MOST important! I would love to change the icon if at all possible. Thanks.

Just a word of warning on this type of organization. If you put things in separate folders like that the categorization views (genre, actor, etc.) will only contain items from those sub-folders. Just FYI.

I think you would have to DL the svn, replace the icon and re-compile...

Modify the graphic file at Program Files\\MediaBrowser\\MediaBrowser\\Application.png and restart VMC.

Powerdvd launches but I have to exit from VMC or mininmize it in order to watch it. Even befor I updated a few days ago it has worked like that. I get a message in MB saying I do not have a program or it can not find one to play BD or HD then I exit out of or minimize MB and Powerdvd is running. I was hoping that it would play them in VMC like it does my SD DVDs or minimize VMC and bring up powerdvd all on its own.

MB 2.0.0.7 used to say 'HD 1080P' or 'HD 720P'. This has now changed in 2.0.0.8, so MB uses new icons. Still looks cool though, and you get smart media icon info in detail view. The new release is well worth the update, and Cover Flow is very slick..

The font sizes for the icons are locked into MB, but you could check out the XML config file just in case.

In the settings screen (spanner), the top right-hand corner shows the installed version, currently 2.0.0.8.

Are there any flags I can use in the virtual folder .vf to go directly to a year or genre instead of going to the selection?
something like
folder: d:\\movies -year-2008
Ok, I think I've got a weird one here.

I just started using vmc a couple days ago. I downloaded mb yesterday and installed it. Using dvdshrink to rip individual episodes of the office season 2. putting each episode into it's own folder. Then I use vob2mpg to convert. The mpg will not play in vmc using mb to browse to the file. It plays the first 10-20 seconds then hangs or it comes up and says it's done playing.

Windows media player plays it fine. If I open the mpg with vmc it plays fine. I can't figure this out.

Appreciate any help!

MoNkLorD, I've been messing around with these icon... Having a blast I might add. I stumbled upon a cool font web site. I've been able to download some cool fonts. But since I'm doing this for you, why dont you pick a font for me to use for your icons.

Go here and pick one... http://refont.com/index.php

This is one I made so far.
