I had the same experience on TMT2 -- setup Vista Autoplay, told MB where VirtualCloneDrive daemon.exe is located as well as what drive letter it uses (J) and to use autoplay; and everything worked for my Blu ISO's. (I used the config file externalplayer section for my HDDVD folder rips without issue as well.)
For retail TMT3 on Windows 7 (Build 7000 x86) for Blu ISO's, here's what I have done and it is working (it is NOT working for my HDDVD folders, i.e. non ISO's) for me:
1. Install TMT3 retail (never had TMT2 on this Win7 box for obvious reasons, and did not try the TMT3 trial)
2. Configure Win7 Autoplay to "take no action" on Blu-ray disks.
3a. Point MB (using configuration wizard) to daemon.exe in my VirtualCloneDrive directory. Assigned drive letter as J.
3b. Told MB to NOT use Autoplay.
4. Configured TMT3 mediacenter app (full path to uMCEDVDPlayer.exe) as an external player for Blu-Ray in the config file.
5. Start movie as normal in MB - I do get an error (Please insert a valid disk and try again.) but it goes away in a few seconds and the movie begins to play (most of the time at least) in the 7MC TMT3 integrated player.
ps: This is on a G45-based system (P5Q-EM) with a projector connected via HDMI as a second display (extended desktop) and 7MC and TMT3 both start and play on the projector with no issues. I use the pc's onboard audio thru small stereo speakers (2.0) for audio so cannot comment on any HDMI audio features.
