My Easy Button MAX end table, slightly modified

I'm about to undertake my second sub, however this time I've opted to have the box built for me, since I need it to actually look good .
I'm going to go with NEO Dan's awesome End table MAX design just tweaked a bit to fit in a slightly narrower area.
Inside will be an IXL 18.2.2 and a LT/1300 amp. I've order the 18.2.2 just need to get the amp coming. Maybe I'll even have it all in time for my very own Christmas present .

I'll see about this late tonight

Dan I dragged MY easy button sub up the basement stairs last night and into my HT room....i could have used a little "santas helper". That thing weighs a TON!!!

Tim,
I could "USE" a little Santa's helper too, a hot blond that weighs less than that box

Unreal Dan, thank you so much.

Due to border charges and such the LT/1300 is going to cost me almost $450 shipped. Do I have any other options for a comparable amp or should I just suck it up?

http://creativesound.ca/details.php?model=LT1300

You could ask Bob from Creative Sound Solutions when stock will be available again.

tundrSQ: I'd like to stick with a plate amp, only to keep this a self contained unit in my living room. Otherwise I'd just reuse my QSC MX1500.

matt: Nice, thanks for the link. I didn't even think to check CSS for amps. I've emailed him now to see if they have any idea when they'll get them.

That's a good amp why not use it?

Well, like I said I do want this one to be self contained upstairs in my living room. The mx1500 is currently powering my tempest-x sonosub, and doing a good job of it. Eventually I'm going to convert the basement into a theater I think so I'll use the mx1500 to power the subs in there.
I'm going to end up getting the lt/1300 from CSS for around $450CDN shipped, so it'll save me whatever the dollar conversion is right now at least.

The cut sheets are up, can someone double check the numbers
post #15 of 86
Yeah I just checked the numbers! The sides need to be 26 X 36 not 23 X 36. Had to make a run back to the depot for another sheet. C'est la vie...

I haven't install the front, but it looks like the backer piece for the front might need to be about 2-3" shorter.

Got my amp installed in the side. Just waiting fo the MJ18M to come in. Looks good so far.

Thanks!

Stinn,

Any forward progress?

I got the IXL 18.2.2 the other day, that thing is a beast for sure. My cabinet builder is going to be busy this week and next I think but then is going to start.
The biggest set back is that CSS is out of stock on the lt/1300 and says they can't get any till march. I emailed Chris from eD last night to check if they have any, if they do I'll just suck it up and pay for the brokerage fees.
If I can't get the lt/1300, any suggestions on a different amp?

Just got word from eD that they won't have any lt/1300's until sometime in January at least. Any suggestions?

Edit: I'm thinking I'll go away from the plate amp. Leaves me more freedom. Does anyone have experience with this amp: http://www.diycable.com/main/product...roducts_id=689 ?
Should give me more than enough power and the built in eq and subsonic filter(although 17hz seems a little high?).
Damn, that sucks that the LT/1300 is so backed up. I was really interested in seeing this build for the soul reason of the plate amp. Its about time we see a beastly plate amped 18". The Dayton amp from the link you provided looks nice, but from previous research I have always read that their amps are over rated and dont produce the watts claimed, but that coudl just be there plate amps. Can anyone verify? Where as the ED should be pretty accurate. Also, the subsonic filter at 17hz on the Dayton is leaving me questionable. It might be a good idea to wait and see what some of the more experienced guys have to say about the IXL 18.2.2 and that Dayton amp would be like. Most people love the EP2500 or the EP1500.

I know from "Neo Dans" response to this build is that the LT/1300 and the IXL 18.2.2 should be an awesome combo and look like a beast of a commercial sub.

Please keep us updated as I would love to follow this build.

Yeah I really want(ed) this to be a self contained unit. Anyone have any thoughts on the dayton 1000w plate amp? It seems to have the same specs as the stand alone amp I posted(didn't know that was a dayton at the time).
I grabbed the manual for that plate amp off parts express and they list the caps to change to lower the subsonic filter. Might go with this guy, rated at 1024 into 4 which should be more than enough assume it's even close to that. Opinions are welcome. I'll try to find some reviews.
Edit: Or http://www.madisound.com/catalog/pro...2072aef3e3c36e ?
It's noticeably more money though.
The Ed amps are made by Keiga. That amp is the same as the LT/1300 that you were looking at. Check out this thread.

Just hold out a few more weeks to get the LT/1300. I mean u still got to wait till the box is built. Also, I believe they are the same manufacturer of the ED amps. So they should be real similar in performance pending a few different aspects. It just cost a more.

I know my opinion doesn't matter but do the...... IXL 18.2.2-LT/1300 Combo

Yeah I think I might just be better off waiting for the LT/1300 to come back in stock. This sucks, I'm just too impatient, haha.

I sent mine to Chuck for testing and it tested horrible....didnt come close to the specs and it does have the SSF @ 18Hz, Check the measuring amp thread. I do like my LT/1300 though!!

Yeah I'm going to be patient, and wait for the LT/1300, or at least wait till January to see if they know more about when they will get it. The box won't be done till at least next week anyway.
Glad to hear you are holding out for the LT/1300. I am excited to see this box come to life. Have you decided how the box will be finished on the outside?
Like everybody is saying, you'll be smart to wait for the LT1300 amp. For the money, show me a better plate amp? Yes, it doesn't have a high pass filter or a parametric eq. but that's why I got the ED EQ2 for. I'm powering the TC Sounds 3000 15" sealed sub you see being talked about now in the DIY forum and I'm very happy even though I know that TC sub can take more power.

The guy that is building it is pretty darn good, I'm going to leave the main body black I believe and then have a solid piece of 3/4" wood on top for the surface. Or that's the thinking at least.
Awesome, sounds like a bad ass setup. I am going to build the same exact thing. I am going to do a scrap piece of granite on top that I have left over in the garage. I am sure the box with granite will weight around 500lbs. I will get my girlfriend to move it since I have broken foot.

Stinn, make sure u post pics up one the box is built!
