In regards the remote, I have noticed some issues. First off, the Standby button doesn't do anything if the player is on. It will turn it on, if the player is off, but won't put the player in standby.
Secondly, the buttons to play a movie seem to change depending on the disk. For some disks, selecting the option to play and then hit "Enter" works. However, some don't. I have found that pressing "Stop/Play" is sometimes required to select the play option. I have also found that pressing "arrow right" on one disk was required to start the movie. I don't know if this is a player, remote, or disk issue.
My Dark City Blu-ray, and another DVD disk that I can't recall, sometimes won't work at first. After a warm up period it will work. I think that some of these remote problems are related to the LCD/remote problem that many other players are having, not just Insignia. If you check some of the other forums, it seems that the back lighting of some LCD displays is causing interference with some remote control operations. It is not well understood. Most problems seem to go away after a warm up period. I don't know why some disks would have the problem and not others. It could be completely unrelated to this disks, and it was just coincidence that I noticed a problem with them only.
Sometimes my remote works great, other times I have to point the thing two inches from the player to get it to respond. If anyone is having remote problems who doesn't have an LCD, I'd be interested in hearing about it. I'd also be interesting in anyone who has found a programmable remote that works with the NS-2BRDVD.
