I'm wonder how big of a room the LS50s can handle when paired with a sub.. and how much is just the right amount of juice to be feeding into them.

fantastic - thank you, the speakers look great.. looking forward to more impressions. def my first choice so far for my next purchase (smaller apartment living room space with center sub). Don't know if I missed it but did you get the Nova125 yet to test with these? and what stands do you recommend?

Ahzari, I just got the call from Hifi House today to pickup the Nova 125!

Cheers!
What would you say is the difference between using the tube-pre and with the tubes off. I am curious because i have kef's also and while i don't think the ls50's run as "hot" as my xq's, i am hoping you will say the tube tames the treble just a little and adds more body or smoothness. Just not sure what to expect.
Also, what kind of turn table is that if you don't mind me asking? I am looking to get one and am afraid to start looking into them without the funds to pay for one. Then again, i'd rather know what i'm doing when i decide to buy one. Any links you would recommend to learn about them?

I will have to get back to you on this. I only listened with the tube on tonight.

Re: TT, I have a project debut carbon in my living room, it's a great starting point for anyone, VERY nice for the $.
great sound quality, easy to setup, and easy on the eyes.
the one in the pics here is around 3X more expensive, so we won't go there, if you are not ready!

Gents, what are you using for usb cable (amp to computer)?
I have my nova plugged into a surge protector, obviously. there is a switch on it, I turn it off...
there is a green light "on" on the board for the usb input, when I unplug the usb, the light turns off.
how can that light be ON if the surge is turned off?

It's working well.
So I have some some stuff like Adele, and Norah Jones etc.

I am debating weather I should get a Nova 125 or Arcam A19 and a Dac IT. I'm powering B&W CM5 and running a Martin Logan Dynamo 500 sub out of the pre out. My inputs would be an Apple TV and NAD CD player as of now. They're roughly the same price and even though I know the Arcam is 50wpc I dont believe I will be limited by it.

Any thoughts on this?

Thanks smile.gif
I do not have experience with that arcam amp, so you'll want to find a thread on it, and see if anyone else is running inefficient speakers.
My speakers are 85 db, so this was a serious issue for me, too.

if they are all in the same price league, you're comfy with all of the manufacturers, and you feel that the power is all the "same"... maybe you should just compare the feature sets. I was spending so much time researching, man, was it a good feeling to pull the plug!

good luck!!!!!!!!!!!

My Decco65 is on the way. I have my personal listening space in my home office. Currently I use a Sonos Connect Amp to power my System Audio Saxo10's and REL T3 Sub. I feed it with my 2MBlack through a ProJect Tubebox. I also use the Sonos a good bit to get music from iTunes and MOG from the iMac across the room (12x12). The Sonos Amp is pretty decent, but I am so looking forward to having much better flexibility and SQ with the Decco and an AppleTV. I have been a huge fan of the Apple TV for years and use one to feed my Anthem receiver in my den with great results. The 2M black is mounted to an SL1200. I have a Rega P3/TTPSU in the den, but contrary to so many of the "purists" I just like the Technics beastie better. Maybe it has something to do with the P3 having the 2MBlue vs the Black in the 1200. smile.gif

I really have to applaud Peachtree Audio for what really seems like a great real world solution such a setup. I have tinkered with different solutions over the years to get a good setup in my office and the Decco65 seems perfect. My only hesitance was whether to step up to the Nova125, but I am thinking that with the powered sub. 65W will be fine.

I'm sure I'll have some more thoughts when it hopefully arrives and I set it up tomorrow.

Good luck! I think the world of my DAC*IT! I thought the sound was to mellow at first with a pair of headphones that i had switched too but come to find out it was definitely the headphones and not the dac. With my new set-up, i just smile from ear to ear. I now understand fully after getting a great pair of speakers what a DAC really does. It's tied for first with my speakers as my favorite gear and it was only $450. Makes music sound so much more better. Everything sounds very analog like. Thanks peachtree!

Hello guys,

These are my incoming AV gears, (please refer to diagram), except the Preamp/DAC Peachtree Grand Pre X-1.
Any guys had good experience with Peachtree Grand Pre X-1? Care to share?

I am planning to add the Peachtree so that I can have a dedicated stereo music. Could someone please comment with
regards to Peachtree/Byston/Kef Reference 205/2 combo for stereo listening?

Does Peachtree sound better compared to Onkyo AVP (pure audio mode)?

Please help me decide to buy, I really like the design of this but haven’t heard of it but I have read a lot of glowing review for Peachtree products.

Another query is about Audissey XT32 of Onkyo AVP. Will this configuration work with XT32 (considering the HT Bypass of Peachtree)?

Any thoughts?

Appreciate any help from veterans and HI-FI chiefs...thanks..

Jhameeh

i don't personally have any experience with the onkyo but i use a marantz receiver. I have a box that turns my tv into a smart tv and it has hdmi out and optical out. When i run the audio to the receiver via hdmi and use marantz pure direct mode, it sounds alright. It delivers for the most part a hi-fi experience but when i switch to the optical cable and feed the audio to my peachtree DAC*It i immediately noticed an all around more coherent hi-fi sound. This biggest difference and this is a BIIG difference and can't stress it enough but the dac*it was so much more analog sounding.
Geesh, it's hard to explain all the reasons without them falling under "analog" so i suppose it's important to make sure you understand "analog"

Imagine a beautifully painted picture (analog) and a picture printed out that was made on an 8 bit version of "paint" (digital)

With that being said, the receiver was made to give a hi-fi sound but it was more like a cheap knock-off version of what the real deal Peachtree audio does.
It's really that good.

@bthrb4u

Thanks a lot for sharing. I think you really enjoy your gear.
You are talking only about DAC IT, so much more I think for Grand Pre X-1. I'm still on the fence on buying this since my gears are yet to come. I will check first
my Onkyo AVP DAC if it is good considering pure audio mode and applying audyssey xt-32 for stereo mode.

I hope someone want to share their experience with Peachtree Grand Pre X-1, since I don't have any chance of auditioning this.

Cheers wink.gif

My music listening is Apple TV-based, so the Nova125 (or NovaPre) with HT Bypass would be the *perfect* device!

I'm aware or the unity gain "workaround" but I'd prefer an actual HT Bypass function... but not at the Grand models' price point.

What else competes, offering awesome DACs for my digital sources, sub integration and HT bypass? (I like the switchable tube too but, I don't see that sweet feature anywhere.)
I use my receiver for volume control but i feed it an analog signal as you would to with the grand-pre. DO NOT turn on audyssey after doing so because it will convert the analog signal to digital and then alter the digital image and then the receiver will do the decoding and it will sound like CRAP!
As soon as you put your receiver on pure audio mode it turns off audyssey though. if you went grand-pre i would just not hook it up to your receiver at all. just another block in the signal path.
However i think if you added a dac*it to your receiver, you would hear a tremendous difference and probably a lot less difference when going form the dac*it to the grand.
I will use my AVP multichannel for movies only and grand pre for two channel. I will integrate everything with the help of ht bypass of grand pre. I have an option of listening to a pristine analog sound 2.0 from grand pre and 2.2 stereo mode from onkyo avp applying the audyssey xt32 and 5.2 multi channel for movies with audyssey xt32. I have few options to choose depending on what media I am going to play. I can turn off Onkyo when playing 2.0 channel only for critical listening.

If you read on the other thread, audyssey xt32 is really nice and lots of people are praising it (including me) wink.gif , sound quality is really subjective. You have to consider room acoustics, speaker and subwoofer placement etc. to have a good sound quality.

Cheers tongue.gif
i was doubting audyssey sounds good. Just know that if not applied correctly, it can sound terrible. if you feed the receiver a digital signal and then apply audyssey it can sound good ( i prefer to not use audyssey for music if feeding the receiver digital signal)
but if you feed it an analog signal and then add audyssey then it''s complete trash.
Sorry for making you feel like im doubting your judgement. i wasn't.
Just wanted anyone seeing this thread to know that they can have GREAT analog sound coming from a receiver if they use a dac and that a dac/pre with home theater bypass is not necessarily a necessity.

New to Peachtree Audio. I picked up an iNova. I have a Mac mini and Oppo 93 running into it and a pair of Totem Model 1 Signature speakers. Very happy with it so far.

I have a Peachtree Nova (80 wpc). I just acquired an Emotiva UPA-200 amp so that I'm using the Nova as a pre/dac. I didn't even think about it, but now that I have the amp hooked up I don't know how to hook up my subwoofer. Its a powered sub and the Peachtree manual says to use a pre out port, but those are now occupied. Any ideas? Thanks.
