Will let you know what I think of the Versus Grand bookshelves. Hoping they are as good as the Dalis at a much lower price...
Dropped by to listen the the Versus Grands today.
Played some tunes on an Oppo player through a Marantz amp (sorry, didn't note what models).
Overall, a nice set of speakers. Build quality and finish was great. They were beautifully made.
I thought they sounded really good, but didn't seem as "airy" or "open" as the Dali's did. I listen to a lot of different kinds of music. I took along some Annie Lennox and Ricky Lee Jones as I love their voices. The tracks I listened to also had a good range of bass and some highs. The Rickie Lee Jones track "Horses" has a triangle in the background that is always a pleasure to pick out. I found the bass lacking in the Annie Lennox pieces, but paired with a sub, all was fine. Probably not unexpected given the size, but I recall the Dali Minuets having more bass.
For the $, I'd go with the Aperions over the Dali's. But I did like that the Dali's were smaller. For now, I think I"ll keep looking.
The guy at Aperion (forgot his name), was great. Understood what I was trying to achieve and even recommended some other speakers he thought I should hear (Totem Rainmakers and the active Kef monitors).
No decision yet on speakers in any case.
The used iNova I have been watching is up to $600. Getting close to the price of a refurbished unit, so there's no real rush on an amp decision at the moment either.
Still trying to get input on the Emotiva amps., but will post in a more appropriate thread for that.
