I still play COD4. It dropped off considerably with some of the more recent releases like Fallout 3 and Guitar Hero: WT, but now that I've finished those, I'm back to my true love.

I mostly play Headquarters but I really don't have a lot of friends that play which can suck when joining random teams. It can be great when you are playing with guys who know what they are doing but really frustrating when you don't.

i made a commitment about a month ago to get my k/d ratio up from .78 - had a 2k difference at that point. right now, i'm sitting at .95 with something in the area of 15,800/16,600 . . . only about 800 more to go.

i've worked through this whole prestige level - and most of the catch-up, with the m4, red dot, stopping power and deep penetration. pretty standard, but i also feel like i've learned the maps and general strategy a lot better this way. i just started using the silencer (finished out my m16) and ACOG this past weekend, and had quite a lot of fun with those combinations, so i'll probably use them quite a bit more.

one thing i have noticed is that there seems to be a LOT of players who seem to be enjoy "hiding" - not necessarily camping - but moreso they'll see an enemy run right past them, and they don't move, don't engage in the fight, whatever. i can see the person moving around in position or whatever, so they aren't paused . . . i dunno, just seems to be happening a LOT lately.

also - jumping. i understand it's a halo thing . . . but seriously? i see these players kangarooing all over the place . . .

also, seems that no one is interested in actually playing with a team dynamic much these days. i will stick in a room of players that are either well above or well below my comfort level if they are talking and working together. i've even gone so far as to track some down if the room closes or something similar.

i was disappointed to finally read confirmation from inifinity ward that there would be no new maps or playlists for cod4. knowing that they are probably already working on mw2, it's understandable - but i also wonder how much of this is activision enacting a "no-compete" between treyarch and infinity ward . . . i can only imagine the number of people who would have spent $10 on a 6-map pack for cod4 instead of going out and buying WaW.

i just went over 7.5 days of online play this past weekend, and, despite taking full advantage of a good haul at a buy 2, get 1 free sale about a month ago, this game still consumes my playing time.

Haha, so true. I first used a silenced AK-47 to get some challenges done but it has since become my fav weapon. I have seen people on the other team run right past me so many times.

This has got to be my biggest pet peeve. I don't care if I win or lose a game of headquarters but it gets super annoying when you see half of your own team just camping out in spots waiting for easy kills and not even trying to defend or capture the HQ. It makes it pretty much impossible because if you then try to go and capture it on your own, you'll usually be facing 2 or 3 on 1 scenarios.

After taking 4 months off from this game I have been playing again and really enjoying it. I still use AVS as my clan tag.
On another not my son has been playing on my acct and has my k/d ratio way down...oh well as long as he has fun.

I usually only play TDM but would be open for other modes of play if a bunch of us get on there.

???why was mike banned from the original COD4 thread anyway....

For me, that is the hardest flag to take on any map .
Sometimes I just give up and lob grenades at it from afar.

yep, that's me . . . we did play a few games together in cod5 . . . not sure i can ever go back to that game, honestly . . . i'm trying to get him to pick up cod4 instead of battlefield bad company tonight but i don't think it's going to happen. maybe in the next week or two though . . .

i think this is probably another valid cod4 point - most of the people who are just now getting 360's, or picking the game up because it's finally dropping in price, are, understandably, scared to get on multiplayer . . . most anyone i see who's a lower, first-run rank plays like they're vets on a new gamertag or something.

i've got a few friends who have the game, but stick instead to halo 3 or whatever because the reputation of this game and the people who play it religiously make them think they are going to get destroyed - and this is probably true to a degree. sure, losing sucks - but when the options are either cartoony lasertag (halo 3) or back to the past part 57 (W@W) . . . i pick this every time.

i offer to walk them through some private matches if they're willing to give the big boys' game a shot, but then one public TDM match on wetwork or vacant and they're usually running out of there as fast as possible.

i'm having a hard time going back to cod5 too. i don't have the interest in firing it up now like i did with cod4. the extra 10 levels makes me have no interest in trying to prestige through the ranks. poor decision in my opinion.

i got talked into bf:bc by another friend of ours - for $30 i figured it's worth a shot. i'll definitely be going back to cod4 after that. harvey will pick it up too when he sees everyone else on there.
