I'm looking to buy my first LCD TV soon. After doing some research I've come down to the following list:
Sharp 42D85U
- Good contrast, but darks and shadows may appear blended together
- Possible banding
Samsung 40A630
- Good overall
Sony 40W4100
- Sound quality not as good as others
- Slightly more expensive
The sony is a bit out of my price range so it comes down to either the Samsung or Sharp for me. After looking through some threads on this board it seems like more people have better things to say about Samsung. I had heard that the older Sharp models had banding but that it had been resolved with the more current models, but I still see threads about banding on the 85U line. Is the banding still fairly common?
Can people who have experience with both the Sharp xx85U and Samsung xx630 comment?
