I have been looking for this but Best buy and magnolia don't have it...does anyone know of a place that still sells these?
That's because it's discontinued. You'll have much better success finding them online.

It is a bit of a crap shoot. A couple weeks ago, I was at my local Best Buy and saw an open box, and a stack of about two or three unopened units. That was the same day I bought their last BH200. The UP5K has been discontinued since April or May...so whatever is out there is what is left.I got a reconditioned UP5K in June off of ebay. I see they still hae some there.

by any chance was the best buy you saw the units in, in southern cali?

Nope. Sorry. Ohio.

I gotta admit, it surprised me when I saw them. The first thing I thought was "must be a stack of 1500s or something" but then I saw the word "Duo" I was like "where were they hiding those".

No idea what the price was, though. The open box they had was $212, I think. (Which I thought was overpriced compared to the BH200 sitting next to it for $179)

In Michigan I've seen them at ABC Warehouse and Best Buy. However they still want $599 + for them at every store I've been to around here. I try to talk them down ... "They're discontinued", "Last years model", etc. but none of them are budging on the price. At Best Buy the manager said he can't lower the price until he gets word from head office to do so. I told him to check his old notes because the units went on clearance in June. He still wouldn't go under $599.

Simi Valley 93065 has about 5 of these open boxed at $249.99.

You cali. guys should try to offer BB a group price for all five. I'll take one for $200.00 shipped if you can pull it off.

Not worth the hassle to be honest. Most won't budge more then an additional 10-20% off.

I have one within an hour from me and it's the same story...we can give it to you for $239.00 without remote. Thanks anyway

Could be worse. A few months ago my local one had an open box that they wanted $500 for... but a store 45 minutes away had a brand new one for $450. I could also use a 10% off on the new one, plus it was new!

The local store wouldn't budge on their open-box price... so I drove to the other one and bought mine.

They have mysteriously reappeared at sears.com for $799.99...too much for me as a curiosity buy, as I already own and love my bh200. Goose
post #13 of 27
The 5000 is almost worth that. I paid $780 twelve months ago.

eoutletcanada.com is still advertising refurbished UP5000s on their website. I bought one from them at CAD $299 and had no problems.
The only thing that stopped me from snagging one @ eoutletcanada was the BH200 I happened across locally at a CC.

Check out this seller on ebay. http://myworld.ebay.com/electronics-store/ I purchased one from him last week and just got it today. It was as advertised, in a factory sealed box. I got it for $469. It seems he listed quite a few last week and they sold. I don't know if he has any more. keep an eye on his auctions.

I saw one at a northeast Ohio best buy ,but the store manager wanted $225.00 for it. The player was a endcap display that played looped blu-ray for about six months. When I aksed if he would drop the price he told me that the player had listed for $699.00 new, and I told him my car was worth 40k 7 years ago, but it's worth about 7k now. It will sit there an rot until they want to get rid of it.

goofy effers. It's a great player but not THAT great so that it can defy the laws of depreciation.

Yeah, I laughed at the LG 200 display unit that was running for a year that they put back in a box (thrashed to ****) and tried to sell me as new. "Its sealed...so it has not been opened" She then quoted me the $999 list price from last year and I told her to quote me the prices for the BDSP1 they had on sale for $599 Open boxed while the s550 was right next to it for $399

Well guys...BB's management finally got the message an drop the player to $150.00. Now the question is..should I hit them harder or just pick it up and be done with it?
tbase - I got mine refurbished for twice that... get it!
When I went to the store the manager on duty told me that the price was still $225.00. I did not want to make a big deal out of it ,so I'll try monday with another manager. I don't need the player. I was going to put it in my family room on the plasma ,but I put the LG-BH200 there instead. I have a spare that has less then 5 hours on it ,but I'm going to keep that as a backup. It's boxed up with everything as new.

Was this new or open box? My BB still had a new 5000 on clearance last week for $299...

There is a place I know of that is getting a new shipment of these units and they are not refurbs. The guy said to call back in a week, although I have zero interest in the unit I thought others might be interested in the 5k deal. The place is a B&M store in NYC called TechGearNow.com. And they are selling for 369.00.

Wow. A heck of a lot cheaper than sears.com, that's for sure.
