Whites are washing away rest of picture.

I tried searching but got about 50 windows pop up and couldn't close them all.

Anyways I have a SK-32H240S Westinghouse LCD Television. I've noticed while watching that the whites are too white if that makes any sense. If you are watching a movie with a bright setting such as Transformers and the battle in the dessert the characters get washed out due to too much white.

What setting do I have to play with to adjust this? I found this TV and setting on this forum and tried the settings posted but the white is still to bright. It almost hurts your eyes.

Any help I can get by the experts would be greatly appreciated. I read the thread "whites are too white" and I hope to get some more useful help then from the members here.

Don't use the "Vivid" or whatever it is called on your set, picture settings. In general, brightness affects the black level and contrast affects the white level. Use a custom picture setting and try to drop the contrast. Set the brightness for dark blacks and the contrast for less bright whites.

Look in the LCD Flat Panel Displays forum for discussions about your unit, or other similar Westinghouse units. Someone may have already posted a good set of settings for brightness, contrast, etc. If not, you can ask there.

Sounds like you are clipping your whites.

I'd go and turn off all the "special effects" settings and then get your normal picture settings roughed in. If you have questions about settings, look at the manual or ask on a forum.

Once you get everything roughed in, grab a DVD with the THX logo on it. Go into the setup menu, hit THX Optimizer and select Video Tests.

Also, make sure your using the best connection for your TV. If you need a cable, monoprice.com is the place to be.
