Question about hooking up Xbox 360/Wii in HT...

Our AV rack is positioned in the back of the room, with the projector hanging in the middle of the ceiling, directly above the seating.

Question is, if I place an Xbox 360 or a Nintendo WII next to the rack, since that is where all the wiring for the projector is coming from, will we still be able to use it since everything is done through infrared? Or, does the game system have to be at the front of the room for the wireless controllers to work?

Thanks!

You'll be fine, the only parts that works with IR is the Wiimote's positioning sensor, in which case you can get a wireless IR bar to mount.

The bar that comes with the Wii doesn't actually receive data or transmit data between itself and the Wii, the cable is just to provide power to the two LED's at each end of the bar(and yes, you can rig that bar to work off of batteries or another external power supply).

So just pick up a wireless bar and stick it either below or above you screen and you'll be good to go!

P.S. The 360 has about a 30 foot range for their wireless controllers, and I think the Wii is pegged at 25. (Though both should work about 20%-30% further depending)
