If you have listings out to the 8th day and a TVGOS logo displayed, then both the names and info about a show come from the TVGOS. Some shows simply have no info to display, things like news, talk shows, entertainment shows, etc. My DTVPal DVR and my other TVGOS device are consistent on which shows they display info for, and which they do not. OTOH, if you're getting no info across the board, especially for prime-time episodes and/or movies, something is wrong.

If you are seeing SOME channels that do not go out to 8 days, but are limited to about a day, those are still coming from PSIP even though you have a TVGOS logo showing. This may be due to the station not being supported by Rovi, or by the DTVPal DVR bug that causes some stations to fail to show TVGOS listings even though they are supported by Rovi. With PSIP listings you get about as much program info as the person at the station feels like typing in.

No it is TVGUIDE with 7 days of info for EVERY CHANNEL. Some channels no show Description. Only NAmE of show. IT was the same when it was just PSIP. Only with 12 hours to 3 days of info

In other words the channels that did not have show descriptions when we had PSIP. Still do now have it. Even though the TVGUIDE logo is displayed. And some are major stations like fox ect. Not sure what is going on?

We had a Dishpal NON- DVR. So that is why I know about the PSIP info

If anyone reading this thread is in the Lakewood, NY area there is a new DTVPal DVR available for $87.93 at the Sears retail store in Lakewood. According to the Sears Outlet website it is "New" and the Sears store details where it is located are as follows:

LAKEWOOD - Sears Retail Store
Store # 2584
Rt 394 & Hunt Blvd
Lakewood, NY 14750-0000

Phone: 716-456-3200

Good luck and let us know if you are lucky enough to grab this one. It has to be one of the last ones remaining in the Sears retail stores seeing that Sears started getting rid of these with incremental price reductions that started in April ($299 to $199 to $149 to $124 to $87 to ???). It sure beats the $350-$400 currently being charged for the Channel Master version of the same DVR!

Funny I was looking on the outlet web site for one last night and saw this one. At first I saw Lakewood and was excited thinking Lakewoon ,NJ which is kinda around me and I would have made the trip to pick up a second unit at that price. Lakewood, NY is another story however.

BTW, when you commenting at Sears's posts, pay attention to numbers - F208.

The stock must change constantly, when I checked last night, the closest one to Austin, TX was in New York state.

It does change that why I check occasionally, when I remember or a post reminds me.

What's truly amazing to me is that Sears is blowing the last remaining DTVPal DVRs out the door right now for $69 and $87 while Kmart is still selling them for $249.99. Does the left hand of that corporation know what the right hand is doing???
I am sure I asked this question before and forgot the answer.

The Dishpal DVR: Does it add/delete stations as it gets/loses signal? Just like the dishpal NON dvr

It will add stations that come in when weather conditions change, but I've never had it autmatically delete any stations.

So if new stations like for example 45.1 (channel 10/55 WLNY) Comes to NYC (new repeater) as it did last week. When the DishPAL DVR finds the new channel it will add it just like The DISHPAL NON DVR version?

It will not delete stations that lose signal? For lets say a few days? I thought the DISHPAL NoN DVR version did just that.

You're correct in that the stock and pricing change very frequently at the Sears Outlet website. The DTVPal DVR that was available for $69.93 yesterday in San Antonio, TX is now gone but the one for $87.93 in Lakewood, NY is still available as of this morning.

If you are in the Vernon Hills, IL area there is a new listing as of this morning for a "New in Box" DTVPal DVR for $55.93 at the Sears retail store in Vernon Hills. The Sears store information is as follows:

VERNON HILLS - Sears Retail Store
Store # 1620
#2 Hawthorn Ctr
Vernon Hills, IL 60061-0000

Phone: 847-918-2220

At $55.93 you have to wonder how low Sears will go with the price just to get rid of the last ones from the stores. Maybe management should consider moving the remaining Sears DTVPal DVR stock over to their Kmart arm and sell them online for $249.99!

So are you saying when you look at your guide today (Sunday), it only has listings through next Saturday, and no listings for next Sunday? When you count days, are you counting today as day one? The eight days comes from counting today as day one, plus seven more days. If you count tomorrow as day one then you will only count seven days of listings. Either way you should see listings for next Sunday.

I tried the factory default option, still not TVGOS. I think something must have changed on our repeater or maybe the TVGOS box at the local CBS station has quit working.

Time to move into NYC.

Checked this morning. Three days after doing the factory default option regular TVGOS logo was back and I now have extended guide for all the channels that used to have it. Either the factory defualt reset worked, or the box at the station started working again. Thanks for the help!

lolololololol

On a serious note. I remember reading on this forum that it takes 24 to 36 hours to get TVGOS (TVGUIDE Icon) To show in the Guide box. I do not know how long it took us. Because I set it up for my aunt and left with no TVGUIDE icon. Came back a week later and it was there.

So maybe it happened since you did the factory default thingy. Although 3 days seems like a long time.

I wish this thing gave you an option of using TVGOS or PSIP for specific stations. In my local market, some of the independant stations provide only program titles to TVGOS while PSIP has detailed descriptions too.

For the record, I do live in Utah. I live in Eden, which is fairly remote and and we get our signal from a repeater. The signal is repeated 3 times before it gets to us. This means during winter, or in bad weather, if any of those repeaters have problems, I get bad signals.

This reminds me to ask if anything can be done to get some of my channels extende guide. Currently I get about 7 days for these channels: 4.1(ABC), 4.2, 5.1(NBC), 5.3(Wx), 7.1(PBS), 7.2(PBS), 7.3(PBS), 13.1(FOX SD).

I only get PSIP for these channels: 2.1(CBS), 2.2, 11.1(PBS), 11.2(PBS), 11.3(PBS), 11.4(PBS), 13.2(FOX HD).

I get no guide info at all for 14.1(WB) or 30.1(CW).

I called the engineers at the CBS affiliate, and he thought the problem was with my DVR. He said that when he looks at his OTA TV, he gets 8 days of guide for every channel. Any suggestions on how to approach get this fixed?
Thanks,
James

Not getting TVGOS data for all your stations is a known bug with the DVR. I wish a solution was available because I have the same issue with a good percentage of my stations from the NYC area.

That is a perfect thing for a NEW DISH UPDATE F209? Maybe if we go to the DISH CHARLIE chat as people from this forum did a year ago and ask for updates. The CEO of Dish (Charlie) Will do it if he gets many of us asking. I hope this would be the case. Was in the past. You can email from the link below any questions you might have. A box costing people $300 (originally) should have free updates for a long time.

Do you honestly think they are going to put any more resources into a dead product line which offers them no possibility of further profit? It's not like it is an older model they might want to support so people would continue to buy the newer models. The whole product line is dead and erased from their memory. F-208 is it. Enjoy the Dish DVR for what it is, it will never be anything more.

I agree, but a FREE e-mail costs nothing. the only one who would even consider it would be the CEO. No one who works there knows their name. Let alone anything about OTA DVRs.

Morally they owe the people that they sold the system for $300 to provide updates as promised in the manual.

I agree they will try to walk away from this line. IF we let them.

A respectful e-mail costs nothing.

Any morals and ethics big business may have ever had left went out the window starting around three decades ago.

A free e-mail doesn't cost anything, if it makes you feel better, but I wouldn't waste too much energy on it otherwise, unless you can get at least a couple thousand more owners to join you.

Morally they owe the people that they sold the system for $300 to provide updates as promised in the manual.

I searched on the word "update" in the owner's manual and didn't find a specific promise about continuing updates . . . I always assumed (hoped, around F202) that they'd update it until it was reasonably stable. With F208, I consider the implicit obligation fulfilled. To me, the $300 price tag was an implicit warning not to expect much (rather than a high price implying better-than-promised customer service).

Don't forget too that Dish was only the marketer. The manufacturer is EchoStar.
