Anybody have experience with this drive in their PAL ? (Western Digital 1 TB AV-GP SATA III Intellipower 64 MB Cache Bulk/OEM AV Hard Drive WD10EURX).
I just had a WD 1TB AV-GP WD10EVDS go south in my PAL yesterday. I checked it, found SMART errors, yanked the EVDS out and put the original small PAL drive back in and am about to RMA the EVDS. The warranty on the EVDS is good till 2014, so I suppose I can't complain. Annoying that it's right at the Olympics though, and I'm back down to 35 hours or whatever the stock drive is, lol.
I think my chances of getting an EVDS back in return are slim to none as it appears the EURX is the current 1TB DVR style drive from WD.
I'm also thinking about ordering an EURX right now since I will get it faster than the RMA from WD. I have a second PAL on the bedroom TV that I never bothered to upgrade from the stock HD, so I figure the EURX goes in the living room, and then WD finally replaces the EVDS, then I can put that replacement in the bedroom PAL.
Anyway, any report of an experience with this EURX would be most appreciated.
Wow, I guess I was oblivious to the post from 2 days ago above saying the EURX formatted fine and showed the 140+ hours. Any report on performance/reliability since that format?
