21.0 is a uhf/IR remote while the 20.0 is an IR only remote. The manual is basically the same.

Thanks for the info. Looks like the 20.0 is IR, the 21 is both IR and RF UHF.

*Probably removed to make harder to use, making user replace "upgrade" to something new, and spend more money!

For 6 bucks I bought one to have as a spare. Great price. smile.gif

I'm not sure I understand the Green Key vs. Blue Key issue. These apparently come with the Green Key. What exactly difference does this make?
The keys are meant for Dish's dual tuner receivers. Green key with a black 1 allows the remote to control tuner one via UHF Pro, green key with with green 1 contols tuner 1 via IR, blue key with black 2 controls tuner 2 via UHF Pro. Silver key is for legacy UHF remotes for the single tuner 50x series dvrs.

Do these remotes have to be programmed for the Pal DVR, or do they work right out of the box?
OOTB.

At $6 I couldn't pass it up. Looks like it'll make a nice remote for the bedroom. The "limited mode" for the TV will be nice also - the bedroom TV is an old analog TV with nothing connected to the RF input, and my wife often hits the channel buttons accidentally and ends up with a screen full of snow

I would add simple "foolproof" solution - a piece of coax from DVR RF output to the TV RF input
post #16364 of 17073
That won't help either.  Hitting the TV's channel buttons, then, will dislodge the TV's channel setting from 3 or 4 (whichever has the DVR signal coming in after JHBrandt connects the coax that P Smith suggested) and still get snow.

If the DVR has a setting that controls the TV's power and volume, though, one can just put the TV's remote away and leave only the DVR's remote out.  Then the TV's channel and its input selection won't get changed by accidental button presses.  The DTVPal DVR has no code for the television model that I used to watch it through, so I needed both remotes at hand; that TV bit the dust, though, and the one I use with the DVR now has a code in the DVR, so now the DVR's remote is enough to have in reach.

For $6 with FREE shipping it's a no-brainer when the "genuine" "original" Channel Master CM-7000PAL DVR remote is selling for $34.99 on eBay right now (from antennalogic)! eek.gif

Edit: BTW 9 remotes have been sold since yesterday probably all to people reading this DVR thread!
I don't see that $6.00 listing any longer. Am I missing something?

Be careful of the Amazon link for this remote (on the right of this page): it's listed for even less, but the shipping is more than the price! The $6 eBay offer is still the best deal.

Thanks wiscojim, order placed!

(Finally figured it out - I was searching on 20.0 IR not 20.1 IR )

Sorry to walk into the thread and be stupid, but could someone tell me how (preferably step-by-step,) to explain to my mother how she can stop her clock drifting a minute fast by the end of the week?

I know they're "the same" but just in case it matters this time. It's the CM-7000PAL...

Thanks in advance...

Also, anyone ever have a machine that suddenly went from starting up fine on one tv to switching tvs and having the machine take FOOOOREVER to start up (I'm thinking 7-8 minutes?) Is this common, is there a solution?

If you (or her) do two soft reboots (hold down the Power button on the remote for about 10 seconds) - one right after the other
it will force the DVR to lock onto the local stations' PSIP time, which is the average of the time being broadcast
by the local stations.
Hopefully that average will be close to the correct time (it varies in different locations).
One reboot does not do it - you have to do two, one right after the other.
Chuck, what exactly do you mean by "one right after the other"?  Should the second one interrupt the first one as soon as the smiling television logo comes up, or should the second one be started when the lowest-numbered station has tuned in at the completion of the first reboot?

Don't interrupt anything, let the reboot completely finish. You can even turn on the DTVPal to verify that the time is still off, before doing the second reboot, there is no rush.

Make it 11.....I just pulled the trigger. And me with a third PAL DVTR in reserve. Guess I just believe in reduntan:)tancy!
I also have several Pals in reserve so ordered two more spare remotes. If they never get used for some reason, it's not much of a loss.

I was going to say, "Thank you for clearing that up, Mark," but you added,

and now I'm confused again.  It's already on when it completes the soft reboot, isn't it?

You're probably right, it may be on after a reboot, it has been a few weeks since I did it. Just reboot, wait until the DVR is completely rebooted, then reboot again. The timing is not critical, and if you want you can wait several minutes between the two reboots. It shouldn't matter whether the DVR is off or on.

FYI there are currently 3 brand-new DTVPal DVRs remaining on eBay with today's price at $399.99 plus shipping. You can currently buy one for $379.99 if you buy it directly from the seller's own website instead of buying it through eBay.

is someone will get commissions to advertize the sale ? wink.gif

I posted the information in case someone reading this forum really wanted a brand-new Dish DTVPal DVR and to point out that there are only 3 left to sell. I have absolutely no affiliation with the seller and personally wouldn't pay those current high prices just because of "supply and demand." Let's not forget that Sears sold the Dish DTVPal DVRs for $299.99 which was the full retail price at the time.eek.gif
