DB100,

Thank you for your explanation, but, I must not have stated my question well enough. I understand the process of both changing the Remote, then, changing the DVR to comply.

But...
What was the original setting for the Remote ?

If I select a entry for the Remote, see that it doesn't work, and decide to give up on it, then...
What number should I enter, or sequence should I perform, to return the Remote to it's original setting ?

Have a good Day !
S.W.

WABC-TV in NYC also doesn't have any TVGOS info. All else is the same for me.

The original address for the remote and DVR was displayed on the lower right of the 'Sys Info' screen. Normally this would be "01".

The original setting is 1 (or 01).
You should also be able to restore the remote to factory defaults by pressing and holding the Restore button (small button on the left side).

Hmmm! Please tell us more about your assorted noise filters. Sounds like they might be advisable for all.

I have also lost TVGOS data for the Seattle ABC affiliate (KOMO).

ABC TVGOS ok here in El Paso TX. Never have gotten TVGOS info on the Fox channels though only PSIP

I tried updating my F206 unit with two different USB drives. In both cases, the unit detects when the drive is inserted, but does not find the firmware upate. The TR50_F208_0HUC00.upd firmware file is in the folder named "update". What is going wrong?

TVGOS in KC is provided on the public tv station. It has been very good with listings and had none of the clock problems everyone was complaining about. From the day TVGOS went on line (approx 2 weeks after digital transition) it has provided listings for every ota channel in the city except for channels 9.1 and 9.2, the ABC affiliate and what they refer to as their 24hr weather channel, actually it's more commercials than weather info. Those 2 channels have been psip from day one.

I would recommend you use Internet for upgrade. There was an accident on one or more occasions when the Pal become 'stoned'.

I believe some usb drives have trouble because they have some sort of smartness to them with autoexecute files. There was some discussion to that effect here, but it would be hard to find. I assume there are no quotes or spaces around the foldername update, right?

If he using Windows, it's impossible to create file/folder with double quota char.
DTVPal DVR will not execute any auto exe or bat files from the USB stick.

That would be awesome. Wish we had more detail on it.

Dish Network already has a pay Internet VOD service for their Dish satellite DVRs. We've known since release that they were looking to bring that service to the DTVPal DVR. That's the purpose of the access card.

Frank43 reports that he is getting ABC TVGOS fine in El Paso.

Not getting it on channel 8/ABC in Dallas either...I noticed it yesterday and it's still not there today. All the other channels that regularly get TVGOS seem ok.

I'm wondering whether it's actually the same thing I'm experiencing here in the New Orleans market.

After seeing initial reports Saturday of missing ABC data, I checked mine (F201) and saw it had nearly 72 hours of program info for my local ABC affiliate. Unfortunately, it was also "acting up"--displaying everything EXCEPT a live picture, regardless of on/off sequencing between HDMI/DVI connected TV and DVR. Following a DVR reboot via the power button, but prior to getting the TV Guide logo back, within minutes I again had nearly 72 hours of program info for my local ABC station.

Meanwhile, a different TV--Sony, TVGOS-only, which only updates overnight while "off"--had completely dropped the ABC station and its data from the Guide it displays. Still that way as of this morning, so I conclude the ABC data is totally missing from the TVGOS stream.

IMO, although the TV Guide logo eventually reappeared, the DVR must be showing nearly 72 hours of PSIP data for that station. While Frank43 may indeed have both a TV Guide logo and programming data for his ABC affiliate, I have substantial doubt that his market is an exception to the wider outage everyone else seems to be experiencing.

ABC 15.1 in Phoenix appeared to be getting TVGOS because I was getting almost
4 days of info in the guide where as most other station I was only getting 10 hours.

But by selecting Menu - 5 -1 and then disabling TVGOS I discovered it was actually PSIP.

Here in Houston, the TVGOS is present on all Channels. But I believe what I'm seeing is the Menu. It's supposed to do that, right?

There are some (not many though) of the channels which state "No Information Available" when I press the "Info" button on the Remote, that is what we're talking about, right ?

The complaints that are being posted, are because there's no information in that Menu Page, right ?
Sorry, but I'm so new to the DVR, I'm not accustomed to the terminology, and processes.

Have a good day !

Correction ! Noticed yesterday that I'm now only getting 2 days worth of TVGOS on all networks, ABC CBS, NBC and PBS, was getting 8, still only PSIP on Fox about 10 hours.

Here's a new take on the ABC listings issue with TVGOS: In Wichita, at least on my TV, I lost any reference to the HD channel for ABC. I have cable, and our local affiliate's old channeel number is 10; it is still carried by cable as an analog channel. But our digital feed is 2010; and with my cablecard arrangement, I get NOTHING in TVGOS for 2010. If tuned to 2010, I get the program just fine, but if I press TV Guide on my remote, the TV Guide display just shows "Cable" as the channel designation, with no program info (or channel info) available. I can't customize my channel 10 listings to tune to 2010, because the system won't even let me create a channel for 2010. (But will allow me to customize to one of the channels TVGOS still has info for, our NBC HD affiliate, at 2003). This also seems to be identical to our HD feed for Fox Business News; TVGOS erroneously believes FBNHD is at 253 (which is the SD counterpart), but I can't customize it to 2253 (even though I GET 2253 just fine).

Exact same thing in Minneapolis, TV is using PSIP for main ABC but my local ABC stations sub channel is updating just fine

It's called the Program Guide. The Menu is what you open to set different options.

Right, "no information " is what is being displayed in the Program Guide.

Press the GUIDE button on your remote and then press the yellow button until the guide for "yesterday week" shows up. If you are getting TVGOS for a channel there will be program names shown and when you highlight a program some information about that program should appear at the top of the screen.

If the program name is something like "No Information" you are probably just getting PSIP for that channel.

PSIP comes from/is sent by the channel you are tuned to. The DVR may use the second tuner in the back ground to fill in PSIP info so the menu may show info for a channel you have not tuned to yet.

TVGOS info is broadcast by one channel, usually the CBS channel in your area. Each channel provides their schedule to Tribune Media who supplies it to a number of parties such as ROVI. ROVI assembles the schedules for all the channels and send a canned message to the CBS station by Internet. The local station has a box that inserts the information into the broadcast stream. The CBS station has no control over what is sent. If you are getting TVGOS for several channels but not all it probably won't do much good to call one of the local stations.

Something else is strange - the PSIP listings for WPVI-DT (ABC station in Philly) which have replaced the TVGOS listings are in ALL CAPS, not typical for PSIP guide listings on other channels I don't get TVGOS for (e.g.: WHYY and WNJS, both PBS stations here.)

For those of you who don't follow the Philly OTA forum, WPVI-DT just got over a one-month long glitch that was causing stuttering pictures on some TV sets. They just got it straightened out for 6.1 and 6.2 around Friday, the same time their TVGOS listings disappeared here. Perhaps it's related.
