SVS New PC12-NSD Owners

Stitch, I'll let ya know how it is next week? It was supposed to be delivered on the 23, but because of the snow we got, it still hasn't arrived. Next week will finish my upgrades. Also, have a pr of RF82 coming. I have a Yamaha
1800 AVR, panasonic BD-50, RC62, pr RS52. Love the new Klipsch sound. Volume levels are low to moderate, and my room size is 12X14. I'm hoping the small sub will work. It should be night and day compared too my old Yamaha
sub.

In a 12x14 room sealed? Depending on how big the openings are or your lay out the Pc12 nsd will be plenty especially for HT

Yeah, sorry. Kinda new,. Its a 12X14 with 9 foot ceilings. One wall is 6 foot tall and open too the kitchen. The guys at SVS said the PC12 NSD would work, the Plus was alittle more than I wanted to spend, but was willing to do so. Would hate to go thru the process of returning one and getting another, but my understanding is that SVS is good about that.

I just bought a PC12-NSD this past week, and so far I'm really loving it. It looks great, has bass you can truly feel, and shipped very quickly.

I'm pretty new to having a full speaker setup, and this is my first real sub, so I probably won't be of any use for your comparison shopping.

However, I just watched "Wanted" last night, and was very impressed with how low the bass was and how much you could feel the LFE. I have a relatively small room with openings on 2 ends of one wall, and it still comes off as very powerful. I'll have an SPL meter next week to really test it out, though.

I looked obsessively online for subs over the past few weeks, and comparing response curves and user feedback, and SVS always seemed to be in the top 2 manufacturers. In the end I chose the PC12 because of its small footprint and how low the freq response extended. Plus the price is unbeatable! Including shipping it was less than $600. I had looked at HSU and AV123 as well, but their shipping costs took them out of the running.

I placed the order for mine the day they became available. You'll be impressed with it, especially if you are coming from a HTiB type of sub.
I have mine in a 17x13x16 (2 story family room), and it still delivers tactile, strong bass. No issues whatsoever keeping up with The Dark Knight, Hulk, etc, even at louder listening levels.
I would definitely recommend it to anyone. Another good thing about it is that if you ever feel like you need more, you could just add another one down the road for about the same total price as one Plus or Ultra.

Lows is the subs forte

Just got this sub a couple weeks ago, and i'm lovin' it... Used to have a Velo VX-10 and the difference is huge... I can now "feel" the bass as well as hear it!

I ran some test tones at modest dB levels (around 85 peak) in mine a couple days ago when I got an SPL meter. My room seems to be killing the response between 45-50 Hz, but beyond that it was very strong from 100 Hz all the way down to 16 Hz! (Measurements taken at listening position)

My room is less than ideal, and my placement was pretty random against a wall, but I'm extremely satisfied with it so far

I just sat down with my kids and watched Finding Nemo for the first time since getting this sub. Wow, you people weren't kidding about the Darla fish tank tapping scene... I love this sub, now I need to save up for an Ultra .

Isn't it funny like that. You've never heard a sub sound SO good, like you never imagined, ... then you immediately want to upgrade since you now 'get' the concept.

I never even owned a sub until late last February. That is when I bought Rosie, the SB-12Plus. I loved it. I loved it so much, I just got an Ultra 2 weeks ago . I will never have to upgrade again .

I am planning on getting this Sub in the near future. This was recommended by my co-worker and he has an older model which he loves. For what the price is, I hear it's a superb sub woofer. My speakers are all paradigm, but I did not get the subs from them considering most of the ones they made are either discontinued, or will be, and are very expensive for how much it outputs.

The only issue I have w/ the PC12-NSD is the hookup. I don't know much about audio, but a representative said I can just use a regular RCA jack and go from Sub Line In of the sub to my Marantz SR5003. Does anyone know if I will lose much quality of sound since I am only using [1] RCA as oppose to 2 for stereo?

Single line from the AVR sub out to one of the line in on the sub is how about 95% of us have our subs connected.

Others may connect stereo subs in line with stereo speakers using speaker level ins and outs and the subs crossover. Usually for critical music listening or connecting to stereo receivers. Others are based on sub capability to run mater/slave set ups...

A sub is a monaural device. Even if you connect the left and right line ins to different channels, the sub amp sums them into a mono channel. Plus, you would probably lose the LFE channel.

I have a 14 x 14 x 9 room used for HT.

I want to get 2 pc12-nsb's. I had an HSU VTF3-MK3 and it just wasn't my cup of tea in this room.

Really hoping people have some feedback since they introduced the new aluminum woofer.

The pc12-plus really seems like a LOT more money for a more powerfull amp. The pc12-nsb seems like a good value but I really want 2 haha

In fairness to the PC12-Plus, you're not only getting a more powerful amp, but also a different driver, and more ports to allow different tuning mode. Is that worth $400? Totally subjective.

What sort of feedback are you looking for on the aluminum NSD driver?

hmm... hon estly not sure what feedback but just nervous because so many people reccomend SVS and HSU but I had the VTF3-MK3 and never really saw what the big deal was about. The Paradigm Seismic-12 and even the lower level Sunfire sounded better to me (obviously the paradigm was much more money.)

still it is causing me serious concerns in buying online because I am VERY far from affluent and this is a significant purchase for me.

What are you lacking? Did you want cleaner bass than the HSU, or more SPL? What do you mean when you say "sounded better"? I would guess that 2 NSDs would provide more SPL overall than one PC12 Plus, but they also cost more for the two. And take up more space, if that is a concern...

But I would absolutely recommend the sub to anyone on the fence, I am impressed by it.

Finally received my two mains, and my PC12-NSB. After waiting for the deliveries after our big snow storm/ And being out of town for four days. I'm alittle bummed out, both of my Klipsch RF-82 were damaged. But the sub was packed very well, good kudo's for SVS. I did a quick hookup and adjustment last night and WOW!!! I can hear and feel a sub. I'll try and do the official SPL setup tonight. So far I'm very impressed.

Dual PC12-NSD would really kick-out some serious SPL in that size room - more so than a single PC12-Plus. And you would benefit from overlapping modal responses which will help provide a smoother FR at the listening position. Square rooms are notorious for big nulls at the listening position.

A single PC12+ is about 60-70% more powerful than a single PC12-NSD, and this results from 50% more power, 80% more port area, a larger enclosure, and of course the all-new 12.4 woofer.

Thanks for the update. I'm sorry to hear about your RF-82's. I went through the exact same problem with a pair of the exact same speakers. I bought them on Audiogon and both were damaged by UPS in transit. They weren't brand new and as such, weren't in the original boxes. I think they would have fared a lot better if they had been though. Anyway, I hope you're able to get that situation resolved quickly, and I also look forward to reading your thoughts of the new PC12 after you finish getting it set up. Good luck with everything.

I got a chance to do the spl setup last night, first time of doing this and I must say it was easier than I thought. It is amazing how much better things sound, even compared to my Yamaha auto setup. My old setup with my older klipsch KG 3.2 was giving me bass, I don't have much to say on my old yamaha yst 150 sub. Now for the PC12-NSD?
Simply outstanding!!! I'm a Dave Mattews fan, and can't believe how sweet the bass is for music, as well as my HT. I don't own alot of movies, but the ones I have with a good
amout of bass , really put a smile on my face. Defenetly worth every penny, and there is plenty of volume, never could feel bass before.

I've just read all of your post and I have the same problem as some of you trying to decide between the PC12-plus or NSD. I have never been one to buy entry level but, I have a feeling that the NSD is pretty good for a small room I'm hoping. I also don't want to spend the extra if I don't have too, especially when you have a wife,,,,she dosen't think we need either of course. My REL Q201E just isn't cutting it, very weak for movies, but very good with music a accurate sub. I will get one of the two just haven't decided which one yet. Is there a big difference between the two at moderate volume levels? Wish I could hear both. My room is 16 by 13 three walls and a open area to kitchen & nook.

UPS delivered my PC12-NSD a few hours ago and I'm ready to get it set up and run the MCACC from my Pioneer AVR. Any particular setup hints or tricks you owners care to share? After I run the calibration, I'll make sure that crossover is set to 80hz and speakers are set to small. What else should I be looking for?

Would love to hear your impressions as I have a Pioneer AVR with MCACC, too.

The PC12-NSD is on my short list to replace my HSU VTF3.

Ed....would love to hear your opinions as the PC12-NSD is relatively new, with little known about it.

My room is about 17'x20'. I'm hoping the PC12-NSD trumps the VTF3.

I got mine today and dropped some U-571 depth charges on it as soon as I got it hooked up. Uh.......yikes! Totally clean and very impressive to say the least. I knew I would most likely like it but not quite this much! My room is 15x15x9 and wide open to another area. Simply put, you wouldn't know it.
