gedunk, what were u using before? and how do the two compare?

I had the DefTech PF15TL+. The SVS is much tighter and just sounds more natural.

Did the SVS ever lose control at any volume level? and is it tight with music Oh, how I don't want a boomy sub with music I'm 50-50

Having just got it last night, I haven't had a chance to try any music. However, I seldom listen to music on this system and use it primarily for movies. I couldn't notice any loss of control on U-571 or on a few scenes in LOTR that were recommended in some other posts. I couldn't say that for the DefTech. As far as non-boominess........the SVS sales rep made this a selling point when we communicated prior to my purchase.

Alright, first night with my PC12-NSD went great. I got a B-stock for $50 off the normal price of a new one but I can't tell by looking at it why it's B-stock. Thing looks perfect to me. Fired up a little Police-Certifiable BD and it sounded great. This is a very bass heavy track, especially the first few songs. Bass seemed to blend seamlessly into the rest of the mix. I had listened to this with my previous sub (AV123 Onix x-sub) and it just didn't sound as good. Slightly boomier and I could tell that bass was coming from the sub. The NSD just blended the bass so nice.
Next I put in Hellboy 2 BD and watched it for the first time. Now I thought I read that this was somewhat a reference track with some heavy LFE. While it did have a couple of nice moments, it didn't wow me like some other recent action/superhero movies. Again, LFE just seemed to blend for the most part.
So far, I'm impressed like I thought I would be. Later I will try me some Kung Fu Panda.

Maestro-Try the Hulk-I never had a bass like this and the hulk simply blows me away. I got bit by the bass bug (drug) so bad that I ordered a PC12-plus, and will send the NSD back. No problems at all with the NSD, but I can't get the what if???? out of my mind, so I decided to spend more than I initially
wanted too for peace of mind. But the NSD never lacked while playing music and or any of the movies that I've triied, and actually am very satisfied, so after buying the plus I'll have to stay off of this forum, it's not my fault?? At least that what I'm telling her. When will it go away??? Two subs?? Three?
Next I'll be in one of the support groups-Hi I'm Eric and subs????

For comparison's sake, I'm a (soon to be) former VTF3 owner. I "pinged" SVS about the PC12-NSD. Understand, I sent them a crude drawing of my room. And, as I'd expect, SVS likes their products better than HSU's at the given price points (except, the PC12-NSD has a significant price advantage over the current VTF3). But this is what they had to say about it....

".....the PC12-NSD or PB12-NSD are the best choices in the price range and will do well (in my HT room). You can actually expect better performance, as well, since the closest Hsu to our PB12-NSD, PC12-NSD is the VTF3 Mk3. The VTF-3 MK 3 in the 16 Hz tune (one port plugged) performs similarly as the PB12-NSD, PC12-NSD from 50-80 Hz. Below 50 Hz, the PB12-NSD, PC12-NSD starts to exert a clean output advantage which grows quite significant in the all-important 20-35 Hz bandwidth."

I really wish there were conclusive tests of the uls-15 so we could compare it to svs' offerings

As consumers, we have to have our own hype filters. I don't blame the manufacturers, they have to hype their own products. You just have to know when it's just marketing or is over hype. I can't think of any company that is going to tell you the other guy has better products. HSU would probably tell you just the opposite.

ransac.....you're right. In room response, particularly in different room set ups, is going to be different. I would expect that each manufacturer thinks their product is better than the competition's. If not, why bother? Having had a good amount of experience with HSU products, I'm anxious to experience SVS's.

If what I've read is correct, SVS offers top notch customer service, in addition to top notch performance. That's something I can appreciate, too.

I can't wait to hear what you have to say I hope it comes soon I'm just about ready to put my order in.

I am just so in love with my PC12-NSD. I came from an AV123 Onix x-sub which isn't a bad sub. It's certainly better than a HTIB sub. But it just couldn't hit the lows that the NSD can. It is certainly making me think what a Plus and Ultra might sound like. My wife and I watched Iron Man BD last night. Of course, I had seen it/heard it before with my previous sub but I got so much more out of last night's viewing than before. Iron Man's first flight was shaking the house. It was intense. I'm thinking this newfound LFE might have some residual benefit as the wife was turned on from the vibrations in the room.

I am still questioning myself and think 2-3 Pc12-nsb's would have been better than the PB13-ultra for pure output.

Still haven't heard my Pb13 that is sitting in the middle of the room and am sure i won't be disappointed but the nnsb's look nice especially the cyliders

After all we been through together, you would think you would at least know it is PC12-NSD, not NSB.

I was working with industrial cleaner making speaker stands all day. I was kind of high off fumes when i wrote that.

Is this a common occurrence for you?

Remember, the Ultra is about more than just volume. SQ will always be better than the NSD, no matter how many you have. At least until you start to overdrive the Ultra. It's also an issue of finishes and features.

The reason why I'm upgrading to a new sub is because my friends $400 Klipschs 10 inch sub blows my $1000 REL Q201E away with movies I don't feel lows nearly as much as I do when watching movies at his place and his room is much bigger 20by15 when mines is 13by16. I would have gotten the plus, but my room is pretty small and didn't feel the need for the extra power. When watching movies my volume is usally set to -10db can't handle anything louder than that at least not for long....My amp is a 100 pound 250 watt Monster Power amp with Kef XQ speakers . I think the NSD will fit nicely into my setup haven't read any negative reviews anywhere thats unusual it must be pretty good, got my fingers crossed can't wait to receive it. Had a hard time choosing between HSU and SVS. The Rel will be going to the bedroom with my Polk Audio sats/Yamaha setup it will blow the little Polk sub away.

Well, I just ordered a PC12-NSD to be included into an older Klipsh system. Fingers crossed that it will deliver LFE with enough spl to blend nicely. The Klipsch speakers I have now are:
Fronts : Tangent T-5000
Rears : KG 2.5
Center: KV2
Receiver : Yahama HTR5740

does anyone have any thoughts on a single PC12-Plus vs dual PC12-NSDs? has anyone had first hand experience with both the Plus and NSD?

assume that price, size and floor space is not an issue, which would you prefer?

Just ordered a PC12-NSD w/ their SCS 5.0 speaker system- I'll let report back after I test it all out =)

I have had a PC12-Plus in the past and I just got a PC12-NSD for our vacation house. Though no side by side testing I would say that they are very similar in SQ up through medium-high levels where the Plus seems to be more effortless and depending on tuning the Plus can certainly has better extension. As for a pair of NSDs vs a single Plus the NSDs have an edge on SPL but the Plus has the capability based on tuning to go lower. My choice would be a Plus in a smaller room and a pair of NSDs for a larger room but for $300 more than the duals (some probably offset by shipping) just get an Ultra call it a day and get the best of both setups with a smaller form factor than the duals.

Kyle83, your going to love it I just received my NSD yesterday and set it up today it's amazing for $550 and I don't have the need for more lows at all the extension on this thing is crazy, more would be (over-kill) for my enviroment this was the perfect buy. I was going nuts wondering if I should have gotten more power or not. No need.... My system is now complete. Have to e-mail Jack G. and thank him for the great customer service.

customer service alone makes the purchase worth it. So many companies are out for their bottom line only and you are left scaredf and wondering what will happen if anything goes wrong. Personally I have been screwed over many times and feel like a beaten dog in that I am always scared to deal with a new company but with SVS I have total confidence that my need will be met. Jack helped me and is a good guy. Aside from my local retailer who I have spoken with in person for many hours, svs has my confidence and i have not even hooked up my PB13-Ultra yet (tomorrow!!!!! with a new pioneer elite 111fd!!!)

I agree- customer service was top notch and very quick. I haven't heard a bad thing about the subs either, so I'm sure I'll be happy.
And the whole system is replacing a JVC HTIB so I'm sure it's going to blow it away

I'm on the fence about buying two PC12-NSD or two PC12-plus. If the difference isn't to much I would like to save 600+. Any thoughts? My room is about 2400 CU feet and one back opening. It is a dedicated home theater room. My theater room is used for 90% movies and 10% xbox 360.

You should just probably call SVS with a sketch of your room(s) due to the opening. But from reading the forums here 2400 CU feet is an average size in which most people get by with 1 of either and proper placement. Others do liek their overkill though

As I said in a post above I like both BUT if you are even considering the money for 2 12-Plus subs why not split the difference in cost and go with 1 Ultra, and the small loss of overall SPL will be made up for by the single Ultras smaller form factor, SQ and extension.
