Just ordered mine today, can't wait to hook it up and try it out on a good movie.
mine should be in this coming tuesday...am very excited..will be going with

Onkyo TX-SR705
Polk RTi8 fronts
Polk RTi A1 surrounds
Polk CSi3 or CSi A4 center(last thing i need to finish)

Can't wait to finally finish, without being as well off as many members here, this has taken me over 6 months to put together, and this sub will be a great gift for my first bonus in my new job!!
My setup is

Denon AVR-789
Polk TSi300 (FL & FR)
Polk CS10 (C)

No surrounds yet. This is going in my living room and the way my setup is, the surrounds will be lingering in the middle of the room. I will probably add surrounds after a few months, until then I will run a 3.1 setup. I got an entry level setup so you're ahead of me psilo357, .

is is true this sub can go down to 17Hz? that's pretty impressive...i'm longing for the day i can get a sub that i can actually feel inside as well as hear (my last sub was a jvc htib so it was just boomy)...and i'm looking for tight bass mostly for movies with some gaming thrown in...i'm thinking of pairing this with my klipsch reference speakers and it looks like this will fit in quite nicely...

GOT MINE IN TODAY!!!

But, UPS did call this evening and let me know they are going to deliver it tomorrow between 8am and 7pm...lol. Guess their system is messing up.

Anyways, got it hooked up, and all is well so far. Its not in its hopefully final location yet, as the cable shipping is slower, and should be here thursday.

So I ran audessy with my current setup (now 4.1 with new sub, getting center soon hopefully) and listened to some parts of transformers and also the matrix, which were good and all, but i really had to crank the gain up to see what it could do. However, the bass is really tight and sounds wonderful with music, even with some of my vinyl.

I need some stuff to REALLY get it going, maybe some DnB tracks, or a good movie...i hear kung fu panda has some good scenes...is it the whole movie has lots, or just certain scenes? I have it, just haven't watched it yet.

I must say, its larger than it looked in teh picture, and while i measured the air with a tape measure, it doesn't compare to the real deal...lol. Can't wait now to find some good stuff to throw at it, what I heard it do today REALLY impressed me, i could feel it vibrating my loveseat during some scenes from Independence Day.

I'm no professional reviewer by any means, but I have to say, this thing is nice!!! I don't see how I could ever need the bigger one, while it would be awesome to have, it would certainly be 'overkill' ( i know...aka headroom) for my room.

One quick question though, im guessing it doesn't matter whether I put it in the left or the right input? i put it in the right and its working wonderfully...anyways, just need a nice long day to get aquainted with it, wish I could call into work now and spend some time with it, but our project is in system test right now, and soon to be on the production runway, so lots to do, which means, my saturday is booked

psilo357,

Congrats on the new sub. You have now had your first taste of real bass. Enjoy the ensuing obsession .

Great! I'm still waiting for mine to be shipped. My speakers are going to come tomorrow (Thursday) and my wires are gonna come on Friday. I can still watch a movie with my towers as they should have sufficient bass until my sub arrives. I've never heard towers in a real room, only at stores, so this should be interesting.

With my PB13 the two best tests I have heard yet were kanye west - love lockdown and the tuning scenes in Dark city

Psilo, I just got mine this weekend also and boy are the pics misleading! I'm worried when I move into a new house within the next 6 months and stuck with an unfinished basement...imagine this sucker sitting in someones living room lol. As for a good demo? Try War of the Worlds. When that first lightning bolt strikes you will FEEL it. When I popped that movie in, it was the first time I thought "now THIS is better than watching at the movie theater."

Nope, it's not out yet. Check Amazon for it, they have it listed but it says it will be released in the future.

Try "Heartless" by Kanye West and let me know if that one has good lows. There's also another song which I suspect has good lows. It's called "Put On" by Young Jeezy ft. Kanye West.

I just got an email saying my PC12-NSD will be shipping tomorrow, so I'll probably get it around Wednesday next week.

Anyone else notice that practically ZERO air comes out of the top port? I had the PB12-NSD before this and tons of air was flowing from the port. Now that i traded it in, i feel nothing.

perhaps it's just a different design?
Just placed my order for a PC12-NSD. I'd been seriously contemplating SuperCube II or III to go with my new Mythos Gem XL fronts and Mythos Three Center, but was never convinced they'd provide the true low-end I need. Thank God for AVS! You guys helped me see the SVS light! Although I'll admit it's a bit nerve racking buying an audio product I've never heard. My trust is in the comments here and the sparkling reputation SVS has cultivated.

I'll let you know how I like it when it arrives.

A bit different but I have the PB13 Ultra and in the 20hz tune there was ZERO air coming out but in the 15hz tune there is a lot, actually a breeze clearly noticed 8 feet away or more.

The port will only work over a fairly narrow bandwidth around its tuning frequency, and the PC12-NSD is tuned pretty deep (around 18 Hz IIRC). So the port will be inactive with most source material, only kicking in on the really deep stuff.

psilo357, can you post the size/dimensions of your room? i am considering the PC12 NSD as well and i am trying to determine if i should go single or dual.

thanks!
If you had a blindfold on, could you tell the difference between the two different shaped Subwoofers? Which would sound better, or would they pretty much be indistinguishable?

I have plenty of space for either of these 2 Subs, I just want to get the better sounding one for 100% Home Theater usage (not stereo music) in a large sized room.

Appreciate the help.
So I got my PC12-NSD last Friday. I hooked it all up and I hooked up my speakers to my Denon AVR-789. I ran Audessy on it to adjust the levels. Audessy set it at -1db for the subwoofer. I had my gain set to 10 o'clock on the sub. So I played some material that I knew had good bass, but I didn't feel a thump with it. The paintings on the wall were vibrating and it was deep, but I am looking for a loud thump sound. I then set the gain at 12 o'clock and it was deeper but not very loud.

I messed around with the phase dial also and it didn't seem to make a difference. I'm not sure of the exact area but I have it in the corner of my living room and there is a kitchen and dining room connected to it. I would say my area is 2400 cubic ft. I'll have to measure it to find out. I also tried increasing the db on the receiver. I set it to +6db and it made it louder, but I didn't get a good thump. I used the Jurassic Park DVD with 5.1 audio. I played the part where the guys are in the 2 SUVs next to the T-Rex location and they start hearing thumps. For others who have the DVD, is there supposed to be a loud thump? Can you recommend a good source for testing loud thumps?

I don't want to spend $50 to get an SPL meter, but could you guys suggest some settings for my receiver and sub for my room?

12ft x 14ft x 12ft.

So probably too large for this sub, but this being the first sub I have owned apart from some old bose system I got handed down from my dad (who now has a much nicer system I must add, after taking some advice from me reading, i took the bose, as I had nothing else). It sounds wonderful to me, and I see no reason whatsoever to have any more, i can feel the vibrations in my loveseat with it all the way across the room. now i have it in the back corner closer to the loveseat, as it helps the sound, on the right side I have a large opening to the kitchen, and with it on the same side, in teh corner that is half a wall, it sounds much better, as less sound escapes there...at least i think thats the reason, i do know for sure it sounds better.

Also, surma, best bass movie i have watched so far was Kung Fu Panda, i just watched it all the way through, lots of parts with good bass.

I just got mine yesterday and it's great! I was in the same spot. I bought the pc12 nsd and it's unreal. My room is 15x30 with 8 foot ceilings, it's got two doors which are closed during movies. I guess that is sealed you could say.

It goes low and loud for sure. I have it in the front left corner. I ran the Pulse lab scene which used to flap my Velodyne to death the nsd had the window 2 feet away flexing! Good stuff!! I ran U-571 and the blast was unreal my walls were vibrating hard.
I ran a bunch of base heavy tracks low car audio type killer base and my ears gave out before the nsd would. I'm getting a second one asap!! I have the volume 2 notches past 12 o'clock and have 3 to go so not close to all the way up here. I'm running the receiver at -6.5 right now as well.

My wife who never comments on my audio stuff thought it was insane. She is a big club goer and said the bass was sick if that counts. She thought it was too loud but I want another so I have issues I guess.

Anyway I have had it about 10 hours and I'm still tweakng but you can't beat it at twice the price. Rye guys at SVS are great to deal with every step of the way. The best people I have ever done business with for any product. If your on the fence you won't regret getting this sub. You may want more later but I always want more as do most here LOL! Nothing wrong in that!

Hope this helps you out.

Hey everyone! Just a quick question, do you guys think the PC12-NSD is a worthy upgrade from a HSU STF-2? My room is 13(W)x16(W)x8(H). The HSU sounds great but just doesnt seem to get low enough. We just moved and it was in a amller room that was above a crawl space so it felt more visceral. This new room is concrete covered with laminate flooring. It gets loud but I just don't have the impact that I want. Any comment or suggestions would be great. I did talk to the guys at SVS this morning and was told that the PC12-NSD would be more visceral in my current room as compared to the HSU. Just looking for any comments.

Thanks,
Roque

My room is 15x30 and the nsd I got yesterday is nasty loud and you feel it too. I will get a second one later only because I have issues.
This single sub ran a few people out of the room with deep bass from some of my old bass cd's from my car audio days. Make no mistake it's a damn fine sub. Also if you can get it in a corner or behind your seating position you will be set for sure. Mine is 10 feet away and I can feel it hard. I can't get I closer right now cause of the room and everything in it.

Would one of you owners be so kind to post a picture? I would love to see what this looks like in an actual home setting. Thanks!

I'll be glad to put a couple up today. I get done early with work and will post up then. It's dead sexy looking IMO!!

Surma you need to call SVS and get some help setting up your sub. There are many many posts from different users who think their sub sucks (any manufacturer) until they get it tuned and placed correctly in their room.

At this point in the game, what's another $50 to make your speaker investment sound as good as it can? I'd definitely recommend getting an SPL meter.
Well I pulled the trigger last week and ordered a PC12-NSD and it was delivered yesterday. This sub replaced an HSU STF-2 and ll I can say is WOW!! The HSU is an excellent sub, but the SVS takes it to a whole new level. By the way I did order one of the b-stocks and I really don't see how it was because it is immaculate. After un-boxing it I set it up and ran Audessy and made a few level mods with my spl meter. After that I sat down for a demo session with some music and movies. I am so impressed with this subs ability to dig deep and I mean real deep and yet be able to stay very musical and clean at the same time. On Flight of the Phoenix it pressurized my room to the point where I had to turn it down a couple of notches, and I have NEVER had to do that. Listening to Keb Mo I was very impressed with subs ability to disappear into the music...the bass is just so "clean". I guess thats the best way to describe it. So far I am extremely happy with my purchase. I do want to say thank you to SVS especially Eric who was kind enough to answer all of my 50 questions I had, and every time I called he was very helpful. I will post some pics later.

rma, glad to hear that you are so pleased with your new PC12-NSD. my room is a similar size to yours (14'Wx18'Lx8'H) and i just ordered 2 of these subs yesterday.

can someone please post a pic of this sub next to some other speaker or tv so i can see how big it is in a room? kinda hard to see size/proportions from the website.

thanks!
