I, too, asked for an update disc for my Memorex player (a 2510) and got one in the mail about week later. Not a commercial mass-reproduced jobby, but one like you'd make for yourself even to the point of having no label.
Emily is a real person who tries to give personal service. Not that that service is perfection - such is out of her hands - but it is BS free. That's a trade off I can live with.
It took 2 updates to get my 2510 where I had hoped it to be: i.e., it now plays every disc I throw at it with no glitches. I expect those that are patient will see the same good end for their 2511s.
