A little history :
Our current fronts consist of a pair of Monitor Audio Bronze B4 towers (the predecessor to the Bronze BR5s) and an old Infinity Sterling Center Channel speaker (15+ yrs old). They have served us well enough but we are getting more into movies and HD audio and have been looking to upgrade our speakers. Our surrounds are fine, and we have an ED A2-300 on order, so right now we are focused on getting the fronts taken care of.
Goal : I was originally wanting to just upgrade our center channel, which put me on the trail of the Polk CS2 speaker. But the more I read the more I realized that I needed to do my best to match the center to the other two fronts. So to that end I Emailed MA to find out if their new BR line center would timber match our B series speakers. They only response was to ask my veneer (now I am no expert, but what the devil does that have to do with timber matching !?!?!?). I reponded to their question and haven't heard back from them.
Opportunity : I have a chance to pick up a pair of Polk Monitor 60s and the CS2 for a decent price (but by no means free or cheap).
Question : Would it be a worthwile upgrade to replace the MAs w/ the Polks ? Or would it be an upgrade at all (or more of an even "swap" ?) Or should I just get the CS2 (stick w/ the MAs) and deal with any potential noticeable "timber mismatch" ?
TIA in advance for any opinions or helpful suggestions/feedback. I don't want to go wasting any money, especially in these dire financial times.
