Quick question...

Does anybody have a list of which file does what in the OSD directory? I got lost trying to figure out which one controls the main menu.

Thanks.

Hi All.
I am using 1.01.02 based 'DVDMOD' FW by B-rad.cc.

today, I saw this wonderfull juliojs's FW!! WOW! it looks fantastic.
however, I don't want give up to using 1.01.02 (it is most stable FW i think)

Can I find the juliojs' FW based 1.01.02 with DVDMOD allowable?

Thank you very much.

I fixed this myself in the end.

Putting stock.osd-0.3.bin on a memory stick fixed this. However it got me thinking about making the font smaller, so longer file names can be seen.

So I mounted the stock.osd-0.3.bin image, copied the files to a folder, edited /osd/inc_list_browse.xml and used mkcramfs to make a new .bin file.

And voila! Now I make smaller fonts. From memory I think I make them 20 points with 26 on select(highlight). Default is 26/32 and in 0.5.3.2 they are 32/36 or something like

I've just updated from 0.5.2 to 0.5.3.2 to see if that's any better, but I'm finding the fonts in the list view to be too big. I have enabled "config_tool -c LISTNUM=8" jut in case mine wasn't defaulting to 8, but it was. Setting LISTNUM=4 is just crazy, the text is MASSIVE! Who on earth wants the text that big

How can I get normal size fonts (as WD defaults) in 0.5.3.2?

Thanks,

Rob.

There is no PAL or NTSC when connected via HDMI, as that only applies to standard definition connections. As it is, I believe the closest your going to get to PAL on your HD TV when connected via HDMI is to set the refresh to 50Hz on the WDTV

Juliojs --

Your firmaware is JUST WHAT I WANTED. Thumbnails are easily viewable on my 27" LCD TV and the lay-out is perfect. The White border of the newest version makes makes it extremely easy to see what I have selected. However ...

I really feel bad for asking, but can you PLEASE make a 1.02.07 version with the white borders??

Not a problem with your FW, but the 1.02.08 WD FW has the many user's ability to use a USB hub to connect drives. I understand that some USB hub models work (very few) but I tried your newest 1.02.08-based FW lastnight and sure enough, only 1 of my USB HUB attached drives was recognized. With the 1.02.07-based FW all was good. If you could knock out a 1.02.07-based FW with the white borders ALL WOULD BE GREAT and it would be MOST APPRECIATED by many folks !!!!!

Kudos and keep up the great work!!!

Open wdtv.ver with notepad. And change it to a highe number firm ware.
Like 1.03.07

It will recognize it as a new firmware, but once its installed it will have the right version number and nothing will be affected.

This is just a way to trick it into recognizing a new firmware.

I just purchased a Western Digital TV (WD TV) from Bestbuy, along with the Apple Ethernet Adapter. I quickly got home, connected everything and installed the WDXLTV firmware from (http://b-rad.cc/wdlxtv), this thing now becomes amazing, with tons of addons. I can now use the apple ethernet adapter to connect my WD TV to the network, along with the Samba Addon (http://b-rad.cc/609/wdlxtv-app-pack-samba) I can access my NAS with all video files and pictures, and play them. Amazing you. Way better then apple tv, and cheaper then Popcorn Hour A100.
Alot of sweet toys, This thing is alot cheaper then POPCORN and really like it alot more too. It does 1080P MKV and subtitles.
Thank you

How long did it take you to get it running? Do you have a router you bought or are you just using a modem/router from your isp?

It took me about 5 minutes. I am using my WRT54G with tomato firmware as my router, then into my dsl modem.
Thank you

I struggled for 2 days until i followed the last line in Farscape's instructions.

"change the scope to the IP of your WDTV" (for Mapsvc.exe in the firewall exceptions even though it was set to all computers)

I was a pain to set up NFS to work with my WDTV but in the end I got it work perfectly. I followed farscape and Vladimir7 instructions closely and I couldn't get the NFS share folder to appear on the Default NFS. I ended up creating another NFS connection using my computer name as the name and NFS folders appeared under there.

Prior to setting up NFS, I used CIFS but I couldn't play a lot of files over the network and I kept getting empty folder. With NFS everything streamed over the network great.

Thanks all you guys for the great work and time dedicated to this project.

Today i got my WD TV HD and installed ext3-boot release 0.9.2.
I am accessing my mkv - files via cifs. I have no trouble to play 720p - movies. But if i play 1080p i get no sound.
The movie is playing like a charm, but there is no sound.

I think the networkperformance is okay. Do you know anything about troubles playing 1080p - mkv's with this release?

Should i use another release?

Thank you,

DaemonB

Ok stupid problem, always when the audio is digital, i can't hear any sound. Think it's caused by the digital out. How do you solve this problem?

Thanks,

Dom

I had that problem using the optical cable with the WDTV. It seems that if you click the cable correctly all the way in, no signal is transmitted, but if you put it *almost* all the way in (just after you feel the "click") everything is fine.

My only suggestion is that you start a file playing, then ever-so-gently-and-slightly pull on your SPDIF plug. Solved the problem for me.

Set the sound output to digital in the settings menu.

Ok, sorry, wrong question, was too late for me.

I am just using the HDMI-Connection and not the digital out. I think i will have to use the digital out to hear any sound, when the audio layer is digital. Is that correct?

Thank you!

DaemonB

Or u should add a downmixed stereo AC3 audio track to your file. I am doing this. It takes not more than 15-20 minutes with PopcornHour Audio Converter.

I too am interested in enabling autostart, autorun, or whatever you want to call the functionality that would make the WDTV start playing a file automatically after it's powered on. I have searched quite a lot on AVS and Google and have yet to find something. Any help is greatly appreciated.

THANKS!
