Horizontal Scan Lines on Samsung 3253h

Hello all. I have had this samsung lcd for almost a year and a half now and I couldn't be happier with it.

I do however have one annoying problem while playing my 360 or Wii via component 1 and 2. I randomly get about a quarter inch scan line which is a blurry, white, fuzzy line that begins at the bottom of the tv and moves it's way up towards the middle, usually taking about 4-5 seconds. I always thought it was my console until it did this on my Wii, and it's been going on for probably a year.

I have everything hooked up to a monster power center including the coaxial cable line which has basic comcast cable running through it.

I have tried different things such as unhooking all unnecessary cables other than the console inputs and the problem still occurs.

I work at best buy and talked to our samsung rep about this issue and he mentioned that the panel is most likely defective and I would probably have it junked out for a new panel.

I still have a year and a half left on my service plan so I was wondering if I should have a tech come out to check the problem.

Could this be a defective panel? Thanks

Ground loop. Do a search.

It sounds like electrical interference. Plug the tv into a different outlet than the other items and see if it goes away. If so, get a line conditioner for the outlet you are using and it should fix it. Check out the APC LE1200 if you need one.

It could also be the power center itself, others have had problems with their Monster power centers causing problems. So just for testing, you could remove it from the mix and see what happens.

This is a well-known problem with the 3253H model and has been extensively discussed in the forums. I actually went through a couple a year or so back. Thought they were excellent tvs but couldn't get one that was free of the problem. Since you still have time left on your service plan, I would request a replacement immediately.

Considering Samsung isn't producing the 53H anymore, you'll probably want to opt for the 650 series as a replacement. You should get the exchange because the 53H was the top of the line 32 inch when it was released.

Normally, the advice these guys are giving would be sound, but in this case, the problem is definetely the tv itself.

Thank you guys for the replies and info. What do you suggest I tell the agent before scheduling an appointment, and when he actually comes out to the house? The scan line is extremely intermittent and at times doesn't show up for a couple hours, while other times it's every few minutes.

Are they going to try to fix the tv with parts or send it to a service center for awhile?

The tv has been discontinued for well over a year now, so I seriously hope they junk it out. I hate that the tv has this problem because the picture quality for me is crazy, but I'll definitely jump on either a 46a650 or 52 if I can.

Let me know what you guys think I should do. Thanks again
