To make the Monkeyface66's job easier keep the "crap" out of this thread. Use the WD TV discussion thread instead.
What I suggested is not crap. You can wish all you want but if no one from WD can see the list, nothing happens

This is from the original post -

# Please NO discussions in here!
# I'll email the list to WD and update the first post when people notice new bugs"

ScottWD also is a member of the forum and can look at this thread any time he wants. He's already said that improvements were made in the last firmware based on discussion in this forum so he's obviously already been reading the threads.

Monkeyface66 was nice enough to set this up so the least we can all do is try to keep the thread clean.
Yes, I can read. I did know that. You dont have to be pissed....my god please. It is not end of the world. If you want this to be clean close the thread. I see lots of suggestions of some ppl which WD will not be implement. Lets close this discussion. And move on to perfect this unit

That VC-1 support works with the new firmware according to ronaldvg. I havent tested it yet because i am retesting reframe limitations.

TrueHD\\MA is impossible to support on this model according to the HDMI specifications because this device is not 1.3x certified, it's only 1.2. These types of DTS audio require v1.3x

Even with the latest firmware update, I still experience crashes.
(Would be nice to see that the player is able to resume from last stored position on a crash for the videos and provide the resume cancel option it does if you go back to the menu)

I would like to add another vote for audio time delay adjustments.

This is a must for me and anyone else who uses av receivers and notice the mouths or sounds do not sync up.

The ability to set an "audio delay" value (in +/- 10milliseconds steps) during video playback

(This should also be remembered in the wd settings folder per video)

I am going to try not to repeat any other features requests, just that one was very important, but unfortunately is in wish list here.

Another feature request is mappings for each feature as a remote code.
A lot of people use universal remotes or advanced remotes that can learn or download from the net.

I would like to be able to map functions to my harmony remote.
Even if this is for advanced users.

But for other users, it could have a learn mode, where it says press the key on a remote and it stores on the drive what other remote keys/pulses mean what. (Aka the device learns and maps functions)
This also future proofs the device for new features/functions.

USB hub support

Manual seek time input (pick hour min sec from kinda a scroll menu or type with other remote numbers)

Seek increaments. by button or menu or combination.
25%, 33%, 50%, 66%, 75%...

First post in a long while.

I bought the WD TV box and can't believe that they use Linux engine but fail to support Linux file systems.

Us Linux users feel really left out having to resort to MS or Apple file systems.

I know it's on the wish list but I just wanted to express how much this is missed!!!!

Great product though.

Any chance for RAW support from atleast Nikon and Canon to start
post #46 of 2358
B.3 - File format and codec requests

* DTS audio downsampling to stereo support.
Note: A lot of users are begging for this feature, so a comment on it would be nice.

* Support for .OGG audio inside video files. (currently, only standalone .OGG files are supported)

BUG:
Photos have jaggies (stairsteps on diagonal lines) when the 720p mode is used. They look fine when using a 1080 mode.

Hi Monkeyface66,

I have received below pm from ScottWD:

I will be sure to add it (Turkish characters support in subtitles) to the list. I already have the character support it just needs to be added to the build. Thanks!

Hope the new firmware on January will have Turkish (ISO) support in Subtitle files (SRT, SMI, ASS, SSA, etc.)

- I have the new firmware and VC-1 does not work with .mkv container, only m2ts

- I know about HDMI, but the Sigma 8635 chipset supports TrueHD/MA so they can at least support passthrough via Optical SPDIF?
SPDIF doesn't have the minimum required bandwidth for TrueHD/DTS HD, it would need around 15mbps! Only HDMI v1.3a upwards support it, so this unit will never support passtrough of these audio specs.
Why don't I read about the main "problem" ;

The player does not support WMA (wmv-wma) and there for we have to decode WMV to MKV with AC3.....

So; -The WD player needs support for the WMA codec to have sound in the WMV files and we dont have to convert anymore.

BUG; After the player has been switched off, it resets the settings for the resolution to AUTO. So every time you start up the player, you'll have to go to settings and set the resolution to 1080P or 720P every time....again
When it's set it's set, so this is a bug that is bugging me !
Bugs:
  • Music: Album View sorts Music Files alphabetic based on Titles, whereas Folder View sorts based on Filenames. It should generally sort based on Filenames (otherwise there is no chance to play an album in original order form the album view point)
  • Video: Switching Audio (eg. PCM to DD) within mkv Video changes Video aspect ratio to default under some circumstances (when a 4:3 video is merged into mkv Container and the aspect ratio is forced to (eg.) 16:9 within mkvmerge; with no changes in audio track the WD plays the video in 16:9, after changing the audio track the aspecr ratio is switched back to 4:3)

Feature Requests:
  • Music: Enable Hierarchical Browsing within the Tag-structure: Artist-->Album and Genre-->Artist-->Album
  • Music: Display comments stored in Music Files (eg. Album description)
  • Video: Use of the Buttons "Next" and "Prev" on the Remote Control for jumping to the next chapter
post #53 of 2358
On my player if it goes to screensaver mode or whatever its called while playing an Mkv file it will go exit back to the main menu if you press any buttons.

I have it set on 5 minute wait until screensaver. Everytime I exit the screensaver while in a MKV file it will revert back to the menu that the Mkv file was in, rather than back to the video playing.

support for exfat
Request: - If possible, please add an Infrared Remote Extender / Sensor to the unit.

I would love to use this in car, hide it inside the compartment and put the Infrared Remote Extender / Sensor somewhere in the front of the dashboard & visible so that I can still control the WD menu screen with the remote.
I would like this device not getting warm when offline
post #57 of 2358
I too would like to add my votes for: (In order of importance...)

1. Support for USB-to-Ethernet adapters to allow for streaming from PC...a must for those of us with more than one WDHD box!
2. DVD menu support (VideoTS, ISO, IMG)
3. External DVD-ROM support.
4. Thumbnail support for many formats with caption text below the thumbnail as it's highlighted
5. Text below the options in the Options bar at the top of the screen. The images are not all that intuitive and the option has to be selected first before understanding what it really does.

The DVD menu support is a necessity for those of us with TV series on DVD's like Seinfeld which I can't seem to get the box to recognize. It won't play the individual VOB files on these DVD's.
I would love to play Real Media .rmvb files on my WDTV.
hd wd connect to pc by usb cable, its possible?
Bug:
The manual states that it is possible to set up a video playlist which will appear under the Playlist icon in the Video Menu. But this does not seem to work.

Requested Feature:
Once the playlist bug is fixed it would be nice to see Shuffle and Shuffle Repeat modes added to the Video playback modes in the same way as for Music playback.

Other than that, this is a great piece of kit in a nice compact format.

Regards,

Lt. Dang
