Keep the pics coming.

Yeah, it always looks like this stage is the hardest to keep the thread busy and everyone always gets interested when there are design decisions to make and the theater looks like a HT.

I also like SW -- I just used almost 10 gallons of their primer and it does great. I've used SW for years and have never had any problems with it.

...that's why I'm surprised that the Behr seems to be the way to go. Behr isn't exactly held in high regards by the pros from what it seems.

I have several places in my house where the Behr paint is now peeling off the walls. If I could do it all over again, I would have chosen a different brand. FWIW, we used a Killz primer in those applications, but I used SW primer in the theater, so I'm not sure if that had a lot to do with it or not.

Current method to clean floor consists of not-so-fun mopping. My wife threatened to kill me if I snapped a pic of her mopping (since I assume it would be proof of cleaning).

She's going to kill me.

Interesting, but not in a good way!

I've used Kilz/Kilz 2 and never had any problems. There's a new Kilz Premium that's supposed to be even better. The only annoying thing I've noted with Kilz is that it is very very thick so it doesn't cover as well as other primers. And it stink!

That's why I went with the SW primer - it was low VOC/low odor. The sheetrock soaked it up on the first layer. After sanding, the second layer went on like butter.

What's the price on the stand?

It was $139 on closeout -- I think normally it is $179. It's called the Ridgid MSUV (Miter saw Utility Vehicle)

I like your new toy, looking really good
i can't imagine mopping up all the dust...

Forget the mop. Run down to your local grocery store that rents Rug Doctors and for $20 you will suck up more dust than you can believe. You don't need any soap or chemicals, just run with water. Works like a charm.

Holy cow man! You have come a long way in a short time. Just read your thread this evening and I must admit I'm very intrigued buy your build and those SPEAKERS! Can't wait to see what your impressions are. You are missing one thing though from a true AVS HT build. Where is the "blue tape" proof of concept screen size simulator? Can't say I'm not just a little disappointed with you in this regard. As soon as my drywall is finished and primed I'll do my own, but lets see what it's going to look like with that 130 AT screen you got coming.

Great work, keep the pics coming.

This is a great idea, however since my floor is covered with OSB not the best option for me, but something to keep in mind for other projects.

RTROSE

Sorry for the double post should have used the multi quote option. I'm tired and bleary eyed tonight.

Wow, your MSUV is cooler than my MSUV (but mine was only $89 on clearance - granted, in 2006...).

That's a great idea! I just mentioned it to my wife...who said that she would go out and BUY one if it meant that she wouldn't have to mop anymore.

BTW, I know I let you down when I didn't post the obligatory RPh Drew Green Glue pic when sheetrocking.

It looks like it is a Ridgid as well...maybe the previous model? It looks like yours has held up well which makes me glad because this thing will likely be abused some!

Update:

I've had 3 cabinet guys out here over the last 2-3 weeks. The prices are absolutely ridiculous. I'm having a friend of a friend coming over this AM. We'll see where he stands.

The 1st guy quoted me $8,222 for 9 cabinets and a "medium" grade granite countertop. That's next to highway robbery! Assuming MAYBE $1500 installed for the granite, that's like $600 a cabinet...and for the most part, they aren't all that complicated.

The 2nd guy never got back to me. Good business model!

The 3rd guy said he'd require full payment up front as business was "slow" and needed the money to buy the supplies.....uh, yeah, right.

Hopefully #4 will be a charm.

Hopefully, I'll be able to start building the riser today! ...and maybe go out and buy the black ceiling paint!

And a perfectly good reason to take as long as you need. The build will wait.

You're gonna need a lot more kids in there if you wish to truly isolate that riser.

contractors are all brutal. it is so hard to find a good one. they call you on their schedule and their time and think you are there for them. my dealings made me think they didnt need my business. you call them numerous times and they call you when they feel like it, but hey, when it is time to get paid, they are all over you...I hate it, I hate dealing with them.

I agree with all of the above, but if their work is great I'm willing to cut a little slack. As you know, my GC has been MIA quite a bit since he started his commercial gig. Without a doubt, the trim job was definitely worth the wait. He came over tonight to finish up the wood putty. I thought for sure when I saw his van in my driveway when I got home from work that he was there for a check (with the trim project practically being done). I asked if he was here to true up and he replied no, I just wanted to get this taken care of.

John, the build is looking great. Thanks for all the great pics.

What an adorable little girl. If I had a little one to spoil I think my build would have been "loganed" instead of "waltered"! Agree with the others, it's a great reason to take your time

She's only 7 months...and time really flies!

The build is looking fantastic John, and such a cute little one too! (the daughter, not the build) My little girl just passed 18 months. They're so much fun!

I just read through all 10 pages of your build. I chuckle every time you moaned about no one posting in your thread. I always assume that theirs a couple dozen silent readers to every 1 that replies.

I envy the space you have, it's going to be awesome!

Ya know, it is kind of funny. I just hate to talk to myself...but I've definitely noticed in others' threads that when you get to the fun stuff (equipment, carpet, colors, etc.) the thread really picks up!
