Johnsteph10's HT 3.0 Build Thread - Page 20

I have to say that your space (now with carpet) is simply stunning! You should (and I am sure you are) be VERY proud. That is some of the sweetest carpet that I have seen and they did an outstanding job installing it. Sit back and enjoy your space, right after you get a screen up and get us some screenshots!! Again very nice space

The Berks look great John. Are those the 088s? The look just like mine. Still fascinated by your front wall set-up and am looking forward to the finished space.

Yup, going with an SMX AT screen....hopefully, I'll get the false wall built and the screen up sometime this weekend!

They are the 090s....almost exactly the same as the 088s!

It must be messing with your spelling bone also.

The cutouts allow for accessing the back of the speakers, air movement, etc. The big cutouts are for the subwoofers.

The cutouts were easy to add and allow plenty of flexibility.

I decided yesterday to get some more stuff done!

First, we build a small wall on top of the stage to support the AT screen.

Putting the screen frame together:

Putting the screen material on:

Stretching the screen material:

Finished! My friend in the photo for some size comparison:

Screen in place:

Cool side/profile view of the curve:

Gorgeous screen!

The splines on the back are kind of a PITA, but other than that the SMX screen frame is a work of art.

Love my SMX ProLine.

Yeah, no kidding on the splines. I was really surprised on how all of the waves/wrinkles disappeared as you progressed through the steps on splining the material to the frame.

It is, however, not something that I want to do very often!

Very cool curved screen! Thanks for posting all the views of it.

Looking good man! That is going to be an awesome setup. Those Berks look mighty comfy. Just don't fall asleep while watching, but I guess with the buttkickers there is a small chance of that happening.

Ok, I must ask forgiveness from the AVS crew.

I still don't know why this happens! We warn you time and time again

DO NOT HANG THE PROJECTOR UNTIL YOUR DONE

but yet the faithful AVSers continue to do so. The insanity!!!!!!

However since you have "stepped in it" you might as well as give us a couple of screen shots.

Regards,

RTROSE

I second Queen's comments - Very Sharp indeed!
One question,: Is there a recommended throw distance (or range of distances)for mounting the PJ?

What you will probably actually do:

"Test" your new PJ for the next 2 days or so.

HA!

I actually ordered the fabricmate track. 210 feet of the 150/20feet of the 160. Holy crap that stuff is expensive and better be worth it!

I also just wanted to say how helpful the Fabricmate staff are -- they called me to make sure I was happy with the order experience and gave me a "contractor" discount.

It isn't cheap but the customer service is top notch.
