Toslink Maximum Operating Temperature?

I'm in the process of "in-walling" my home theatre installation and part of that entails moving most of the equipment to a remote wiring closet. One of my objectives was to have a console rack available in the HT living space and then make all the connections from a remote switcher there to the main AV remote rack.

The bit that has me concerned and has prompted this thread is a lack of information on the reliable operating temperatures for Toslink optical cables. To accomplish this install, my cable runs will have to make a short (3m ~10ft) run through the unfinished attic space. Since I live in Florida, temperatures can get pretty hot up there. Since Toslink is essentially a plastic/quartz fibre, I have concerns over long-term reliability.

Various other cable manufacturers have quoted operating temperature ranges from -20'C to 85'C (which is about 185'F). I'm pretty sure the attic doesn't get THAT hot, but it might get in the 150'F range.

Any input would be welcome! I'll have pictures and a dedicated project thread coming soon.

If you get cable rated to 85'C, then you should be okay.

It's plastic or quartz....I doubt the quartz would melt in your attic

Not necessarily... You can buy fiber glass toslink cables.

Just as an FYI, I contact Monoprice technical support and they indicated that none of their Toslink product lines are CL2 rated and they do not have temperature ratings available.
