I believe EMP has said mid-June, so probably pretty soon. I recommend the red burl finish, they are beautiful.

how do these speakers stand against polks RTiA9? is e55ti equal or better? i know it's cheaper and much more beautiful. yep the red burl finish is so damn beautiful.
I haven't heard those Polk speakers, but others I have heard are definitely brighter than the EMPs. I find the EMPs have a more neutral laid back sound. They have a fantastic mid-range and provide a lively and spacious sound. They do however benefit greatly from a subwoofer, and this may be an area where the RTiA9 excels.

my 2 year old BIC PL-200 can handle the lower frequency. polks rti line is just too expensive for me. thanks for the info Transmaniacon.

by the way, i checked EMP's facebook page and found a picture about their black friday ad. it's like 50% off for everything. that ad was from last years black friday. could it happen again? 'coz i might just have to wait a little longer and pull the trigger on 2 pairs of e55ti and the center channel e56ci.
I bought my pair of E55Ti's this past Black Friday for $477 shipped! They usually have sales a couple times a year, and I would imagine they would continue the trend. I would recommend signing up for their newsletter, in the past they have had 4th of July sales.

completely a matter of personal preference. I personally didn't enjoy the RTi line's top end as I found it a bit too shrill and over exaggerated. Everyone claims the bass on the RTia9 is great, but 99% of people are going to run a sub so why does it matter THAT much.

Not to mention EMP has a 30-day money back policy....order them and if you don't like them then send them back. It's that easy! No harm if you don't like them lol. Everyone is different, but I've found these speakers to be insanely good for their price

I"ve read through this whole thread over a period of time and I'll definitely be going with the EMP Tek E55ti's. I can't wait to replace my bose bookshelf speakers....not sure what I was thinking when I was 18 years old. This shall be a BIG upgrade! biggrin.gif

I can't wait til they get these in stock, which I've also been told will be mid June. Does anyone know if they will have B stock's available at that time too?
Hard to say, but I would imagine if they are about to get a fresh stock in, there will likely be some people demoing them and possibly sending them back.
I bought some b stock about a year ago and have never seen it for sale again. They appeared to be brand new.

Went ahead and ordered a pair of E5Bi speakers for my L & R surrounds. For now they will just be on stands flanking my sofa, some day I will wall mount them but this should be fine for now.

Going with this stands:

Ordered 100' of 14awg Monoprice speaker wire and banana plugs, can't wait for everything to get here!

I am hoping there is another 4th of July sale so I can grab the E56Ci, doing so will mean wall mounting my TV though rolleyes.gif

My speakers are due to arrive Wednesday, so I will post some pictures for you guys.
trans, I am def interested in your thoughts about those bookshelves...after they arrive, of course!

Why not just wall mount them right away? Saves you from having to sell the stands.

...and that's what Monoprice's awesome tv wall mounts are for!! Doesn't hurt the wallet and does a great job from what I've been able to see for years. I'll be picking one up soon for whatever we go with (65vt60 smile.gif)

I need to get another picture of the living room now. I've made quite a few changes (new tv stand, new couch, etc etc). Still haven't had time to pick up a pair of subs, but that day will come I'm sure. I'm trying to downsize some of my car stuff to free up some trunk space (2 amps, distro blocks, processor and wires takes up a lot of room!). I can't wait to wall mount the tv too! Hate not having the e56ci in there

Well this is something I debated a good bit, but I would have to run wire down a wall and across a hallway in order to wall mount them properly (I am in an apartment and can't put wire in the walls). I figured this would be the easiest solution for the time being, and I can at least hide the wires in the stands so it looks a little nicer.

Yep! I plan on grabbing one of those from Monoprice, I only have a 42" plasma right now, but that upgrade bug is going to be itching bad come tax return season rolleyes.gif

Yeah would be nice to see another EMP setup, last I remember you were still looking for a new stand. I also gave up trying to find a stand south of a grand to fit the E56Ci, so its going on top biggrin.gif

I spoke with someone in the sales dept. at RBH/Emp and he said they're expecting a shipment in this coming week. He also hinted that they might be dropping the price for the e55ti to under $700. Reason being is they are no longer going to pay for return shipping if you're demoing speakers.

I'm seriously considering getting a set. I've been looking hard at the Monitor Audio RX-6 and these. Also looking at Energy Veritas 6.3 and Bower wilkins CM8 or CM9 but unless I find a killer deal on those, it's really between the RX-6 and the E55ti cuz they fit more to my budget. Any advice, comments, opinions on the speakers I'm checking out?

Well that is really good for the people that want to keep the speakers after they try them. Good companies do things like this and Emp has great customer service! I have never heard the Rx-6's so I can't give you an opinion between the two but I really like the E55TI'S. They look really stunning as well. So there is my opinion. Looks great, sounds great and great customer service.
RX-6's are like $1300 I thought. Interesting about the price change and no free trial. Could work out better to get more people to pick them up. They surely don't sound or look like a $700 speaker though
post #1697 of 3142
Saturday audio has the rx-6 set for $999 right now. The main reason I haven't pulled the trigger on them is cuz the center and bookshelfs are considerably more than Emp's.

Was curious to know if anyone who has heard them would say they're worth the price over the emp teks or about in the same class

All of that is up to you. Haven't heard the RX-6, but even if I had your opinion could differ from mine. Have you tried posting in the Monitor Audio thread to see if anyone is nearby to you? I'm sure the RX-6's are nice and many seem to like them, though I see they tend to be called a tad overemphasized (bright) on the high frequencies. I personally think the e55 rolls off too quickly in the highs, but when you EQ them up.....wow. I'd have to hear both to really be the judge, but when if we're talking about what I got the e55's for then that contest becomes A LOT harder for the RX-6's.

It's only the 2nd day after "mid-June" in the sense they meant the 15th. Maybe they meant 12th through 18th?

Oops. Might have just ordered a pair of RW-12d's

Nice!! I think that will sufficiently take care of your low end, let us know how it sounds with the new subs! biggrin.gif
post #1704 of 3142
Will do! I'm hoping they'll give me usable down to 28hz, but if they want to dig a little deeper I wouldn't mind lol. I've got MultEQ XT ready to go. Placement is going to be between the speakers and on the outside of the tv stand. Hopefully they'll sound great and still have a solid up front image without drawing attention to themselves.

I'm sure there's going to be the "should have went DIY" or "should have went with X over the rw-12d", but literally everyone option I looked at was almost double. SVS PB-1000 pair...double. Rythmik LV12r pair...double. etc etc.
I have the Klipsch rw-12 and it hits pretty low. Never measured it, so i cannot say how low. Excellent sub for HT, however, I find myself turning it down or off for music (kind of boomy with music, I think)...especially since the EMps do the low end pretty well!
I'm hoping with a larger room, multiples and MultEQ XT the rw-12d's will shine a little brighter lol
post #1707 of 3142
Place them where they sound the best. Subs can be tricky! Having the same sub will get you about 3db and co-locating them will get you about 6db increase.

My E5Bi's arrived today and I unboxed them to take a look and make sure everything was golden:

As always EMP does a great job of packing them with soft foam, plastic and felt bags.

Love the red burl finish, these speakers look great.

Here they are sitting next to my E55Ti's, quite a bit smaller tongue.gif

I listened to them for a little while, I was surprised at how much sound they put out. I can definitely appreciate the mid-woofers in my towers, but these would hold their own in a small/medium room with a good sub woofer. Great imaging seems to be a trend with EMP speakers, and they easily disappear in my room. I like to play Adele and some other songs featuring acoustic guitar to see how the tweeter performs and these are just as great as my towers. The towers however have a noticeably fuller sound, and the bookshelves would probably benefit from a better sub than I have, but that is to be expected. I look forward to getting them hooked up and enjoy some blu rays.

I have to wait until thursday when my stands arrive to get them placed, so for now they just have to hang out cool.gif

OMG! they're beautiful!!!! can't wait to get one.

Very nice! I was surprised at how great the e5's sounded also. These are some very nice speakers for the price. They also look pretty good too biggrin.gif I like the stand! Looks nice and wide

Here's what I went with (obviously not where it's actually place now lol)

What I wanted to touch on in this post was how you said they image great and disappear. I have been noticing that more and more now that I've moved mine....wait for it....10 feet apart! I don't have any of my other speakers hooked up right now, just the e55ti's at 10' apart and the image is literally ROCK SOLID in the middle of the tv at all times (when it's supposed to be obviously). I was sitting about 6-8" to the outside of my FL speaker last night watching a movie (I know..I know...not dead center. It will never happen again guys lol) but in all seriousness, I was looking right at the speaker & never felt like the sound was coming from it. Still solid as can be right in the middle of the screen. One of my favorite tracks for imagining and depth is Hotel California live (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jIPu92RddRA ...sry it's crummy quality). I have this in lossless format and it's truly amazing to hear the separation and depth of these speakers. HUGE stage, drums are a little off to the left and a ways back from the front 5 guys. If you haven't listened to this particular live performance you're missing out!
