I am assuming that this is FedEx you are talking about because they are really bad about updating their tracking. They are not as bad as the Postal Service though. They are by far the WORST! I will have a tracking number for them and two days later, after tracking it, their website still says "no information on the tracking number is found". Geez it is 2013, get with the program lol mad.gif

Definitely take pictures if you can because we all love speaker porn! biggrin.gif

Just out of curiosity, did you try to get a price match at any of the retail stores? HHgregg is pretty good about that, when I bought my Panasonic plasma a few years back I had them match Amazon, and took it home the same day.

None of the retail stores around me had the 65st60 believe it or not. BB, etc were all sold out and backordered. I got Paul's to bring the price down to what they had it at a few weeks ago, plus bring the 4-year warranty down 50%. Got the 65st60 + 4-year for $2,399 shipped.

Also, if I don't use the warranty I get 50% of what I spent on it back. So I spent $200 on it, I get back $100 if I don't use it. AND I have 30-day Price Match Plus where they'll price match any authorized Panny dealer and refund me whatever the difference is. Hoping somewhere will jump back down to $1,999 like it was a month and a half ago!

Ah that is unforunate, hopefully it arrives soon, that is an excellent plasma!

Still searching for Surrounds Speakers to complete my 7.2 setup... Whats the differences between E41 Bookshelf Speakers and E5Bi Bookshelf Speakers? I really like the E55Wis but there so expensive whenever you need 4. I wish they would go on sale. That would be fantastic. Also feel free to leave suggestions on any other brands. Thanks

EMP usually has a Black Friday sale in November, last year it was 45% off, so it may be worth waiting if you want matching bipoles.

Have you contacted EMP to see when they estimate they'll have the E5bi back in? Or what the chances of them having a sale in November will be? Just tell them what you've purchased and what you're interested and I'm sure they'll be up front with you. Great customer service over there!

The e41 will have a different tweeter and midrange/midbass driver than the Impression series that you already have. Will it matter for surrounds? Not likely unless you want as seemless as you can get it. Even with the same drivers used, there are still going to be differences in sound from the e55wi, e5bi, e55ti, etc....close, but slightly different. I definitely wouldn't mind trying those e41's though. I so badly wish they still made the E-41b as that speaker seemed to be one helluva steal for the money. Good tweeter, awesome midrange/midbass driver, nice cabinet, etc. I'd love to have a pair as my PC setup....which reminds me...I still need to buy something lol. Sick of using headphones (t-amp and dayton b652's look decent for next to nothing)

The e41 would likely suit you nicely. Looks like they're $300 pair. You might give them a call and see if they can make you deal since you already purchased some of the Impression line AND (at least it looks like it) you'll be purchased 2 sets of them. Maybe they could come down a little for ya. Who knows...worth a try!

There are plenty of other speakers to look at as far as surrounds go. Are you stuck on the dipole speakers for some reason? Do you know that they work well in your setup or what?

I honestly don't know why I like the dipole Speakers better. Also I have no clue if they would work well with my setup. Lol

Haha at least you're honest. The money savings alone would be worth it to me
post #1901 of 3149
Especially considering how little sound is produced from the surrounds.

I found someone selling a pair of E55Wis for $289 shipping included. Whatcha guys think? Good deal or should I pass?

You seem to really be interested in them and want them so why not! Go for it. I'm sure you could resell them if you don't like them
post #1904 of 3149
Does that seem like a good price though?

I think that is a pretty good deal if they are in great shape.

That's up to you. Personally I would be more in favor of monopole surround speakers.
I would not want monopoles for my surrounds.
Just for you or in general? And if in general, why?
Because monopoles are easier to identify where the sound is coming from unlike bipole and dipole. They have more of a surround sound coming from them and it sounds more natural. This is also what you want from your surround speakers. This is personal preference and either THX or Dolby also reccomends bi or dipoles for surrounds.
I would think that, unless you have a specific setup room/type for bipole/dipole, you're just introducing more reflections & cancellations/peaks into the mix
post #1911 of 3149
No not at all. Look it up and you will see. I have used monopole before and I thought it was ok until I heard bipoles. The movie experience is way more realistic IMO. Like I said before, the monopoles were too directional. This was also before I treated my theater.

What sub did you upgrade to?

I am moving my 2 SVS PB12+/2's up into my living room to replace my EmpTek
1010i's.

The SVS subs that were in my gameroom are being replaced by 3 Power Sound Audio Triax's.
I am luck that my theater is in a smallish basement room, maybe 12 x 22 and 8 foot celling. In that room, my EMP 10i10i almost knocks me over and is amazingly accurate (atleast compared to my Klipsch W12d). Man, that is a lot of sub!

On that note, I watched 'Now You See Me' last night and there were some decent bass lines in that movie. Pretty cool movie too. I'm still relatively surprised by the dual rw-12d's. Are they the tightest sounding subs that go into the teens with authority...no. But they sound way better than I thought they would. Getting the rw-12d's while they were like $270/ea, plus the 5.0 from EMP on Black Friday....that's one helluva budget setup for CHEEEAP.

Check out world war z. Some really good bass and ulf in that movie!

Yeah I watched that a few nights ago too. Good movie and good bass. That grenade scene was intense! The dynamic range of the e55ti's and e56ci is crazy

Hey everyone, new AVS member here and I'm in the process of

trying to build up an HT/Music system again after having all my

electronics stolen out of a storage unit back in 2012.

I guess it would help to first describe my old system so that my

questions make more sense.

I had a Denon 2808CI for my AVR, Panasonic Blu-Ray player,

older Onkyo 6 disc CD player and an older set of Klipsch speakers.
I had the old 5.5 towers for right and left fronts, matching center,

2.5's for surrounds and a KW12 sub. While I still have most of the

speakers (they stole one of the 5.5's, left the rest?), I'm wanting

to upgrade to some newer equipment. I checked at Klipsch on

a possible replacement of the 5.5 that was stolen, and they quit

making them back in 1997.

I started off by getting a Pioneer SC-1222-K at Costco for $469.

I know it has some limitations, but I only need 5.1 for now and

don't need all the new TV features that are coming. I figured I

can always upgrade the receiver later if I need to since I got

such a good deal on the Pioneer.

So I'm at a point where I'm trying to decide on speakers. At first

I was thinking Axiom, but as I read tons of reviews and started

seeing what else was out there, the Axioms started looking a

little dated.

That led me to Aperion and the Verus Grand towers. These

were in the same range of the Axioms. Then I happened on

the EMT E55Ti's and started researching again. They sure

look a lot like the Aperion's but obviously not quite the same

level (but WAY cheaper).

So looking at what I had before, I'm thinking the EMT's are

going to be a BIG improvement anyway and fit the budget

much better. I can also get the E56Ci, the surrounds and

2 of the ES1010i subs and still be a few hundred dollars

under what it would cost for just the Aperion towers and

center channel.

I might also just use the Klipsch sub for now to save a

few more bucks and then maybe get the EMT subs when

they have a sale.

Do you think combining the Pioneer (160 x 7 with class D amps)

with a full set of EMT's will blow me away compared to all the

old stuff I had?

I have a pretty good feeling they would. Just looking for a little

reassurance before I pull the trigger and order.

Thanks in advance for the suggestions and help. For someone

like me that's been out of the technology loop for a while, forums

like these really help.

Greg
