okay, with the subs completely off and the mains and center set to large you can definitly hear a difference. getting a more full range but very clear. the 3 woofers are moving much more than before. it'll have to do for now until i get a place where i can run a sub without any complaints from the neighbor.

I am liking my dual 1010i's more and more each day.

I would love to have 4 of them, one in each corner of the room would be awesome and less than $1200.

I will watch a few more movies this weekend and report back. I have the new Underworld movie which is supposed to have some really good LFE.

Yeah like you I'm enjoying them a lot, my friend got to many noise complaints from the one we got him and he asked if I would buy it so he could get a small bic sub, now I have two monster E1010i subs and they shake the house that I'm in, Raynist did you set your cross over to 80 Hz with small fronts or another setup?
I have mine crossed over at 80hz with all speakers set to small.

Watched a few scenes from transformers - dsotm today. Sounded great at -20, cranked it up to -15,-10 and -5 and it really didn't sound any louder (the bass). Maybe I hit the limit and they would not play any louder? I gotta say though, I am ok with that. I never go above -20 in this room. My wife complains that everything is too loud when I get around -25. Watched underworld awakenings last night at around -30. Sounded fantastic. Especially when the giant Lycan appears, overall this is a great movie for LFE.

I wonder if they are extending the sale on the 1010i sub? They are still listed at $299.

That means there weren't distortion cues telling to turn it down.

Without distortion, a 10db swing in bass is not really a big amount.

Can someone tell me what kind of surrounds the drivers in the towers use? Are they foam or some kind of rubber?
I just felt them and they feel like rubber.

Please elaborate.

What was the problem?

They are rubber. Why you ask?

Just wanting to know before I order. Foam, to me, always feels cheaper and more flimsy and easier to tear. Bose comes to mind as a company that always cheaps out with foam and we know how awesome their speakers are.

Any one having problems with sound on the center channel? I have asked in the receiver forum and am trying some suggestions. When watching tv the volume is fine but weak during movies.

Here is the setup:

Panasonic ST50
Panasonic BDT110 Bluray player
XBox 360
Wii
Denon 2112ci
Emp E55TI's for mains
Emp E56CI for center
Emp E5TI as surrounds
AND NOW A HSU VTF15H

Different surround materials definitely have their different pros and cons. Treated Foam tends to be a good idea for a midrange, while rubber makes more sense to a woofer, from my perspective. I also like treated cloth.

No problems at all. I have this center in 2 systems.

I assume you ran audyssey? You could always bump up the center volume. Do you have another speaker you can put in place of this center to see if it is the same?

If it's only during movies, it would lead me to believe something is out of whack on your receiver.

I agree, mids aren't really prone to a lot of stress, so foam wouldn't be a big deal. I just wanted to make sure the woofers weren't foam. That would be a no-no, in my opinion.

Sorry to double post, but I figured it would make it easier to separate from my last post. Has anyone taken the little speaker grille off their tweeter? Nothing is ever going to happen to my tweeter where I'd need that on there, not to mention with the front cover on the actual speaker. I prefer to have as little blocking my tweeter as possible. Does the cover just unscrew and can the little grille be removed from behind? I'm just curious if anyone has done this.

OK, well, I ordered a set of the E55Ti towers and the E56Ci center. I figured with the 30 day return policy, why not? We'll see how these compare to my Focal towers. LOL!

I hope you enjoy them! I know I sure do, as for the tweeter cover I haven't taken mine off but I might try that this weekend. Let us know your thoughts on the system and the center channel.
wow...i found this thread all the way back on page 6! nothing new gentlemen? as for me, still enjoying my emps! lately, dialogue seems a bit low and when action music comes on it gets loud. any way to adjust this on my pioneer 1121k?
I'll be hooking mine up in a day or two. I removed the tweeter cover last night, interesting to see that the tweeter dome is clear/see-through. Kind of cool looking. Since I haven't listened to them yet, I will comment on the build quality. Amazing! For the price, I can't believe how solidly built of a speaker these are.

Still very pleased with the minitowers. Outstanding for HT, very good for music. Really love the clear highs and mid...bass could be better, but works well with a sub!
How are people liking the emp subs?!

And 4th.

I will have 4 across my front sound stage. They will be stacked on either side of the TV. The top one will be upside down. I will remove the feet. Should have them next week.

Just got the order in before the sale ended.

Holy crap, batman! How big is your room? Yea, I see the sale ended recently...

The living room is open to the dining room, kitchen, two long hallways and a number of bedrooms and bathrooms whose doors are always open. Excluding the bedrooms and other rooms whose doors can be shut it is probably around 7000/8000 cubic feet.

Could you please tell us how you removed the grills for the tweeter? I'de like to remove mine as well.

Thanks!
