There is no reason to bi-amp these speakers. They have a passive crossover and are a nominal 6 ohm load that barely even dip down to 4 ohm. I can power them to earbleed levels with a 100W receiver, with the only strain coming from the tweeter.

Why does it matter if you have to listen at -16? If the receiver gets it as loud as you need or want to listen to then what is the difference?

Agreed. There is nothing wrong with listening at "-16" - i don't know any 100W receiver that is even remotely clipping driving E55Tis with a max SPL probably around 90db.

Reference is 0, try listening at that! I routinely listened to my Pioneer at -6, but my current receiver is a little more powerful (Yamaha 867) and I usually run it at -12, both are a 7.1 setup, but the Pioneer never had the emps.

That's exactly why EMP only built them with one set of terminals. LOL!

Looks like a peerless HDS tweeter which is now the scanspeak 9130. If that's the case (probably not), that's a $81 tweeter.

The site doesn't really look it much, but the DIY clearwave 4tse uses this tweeter and it looks similiar.

Trying to decide if I should grab at the 5.1 set and then add some towers.. Or just purchase everything individually and go with some E55Wi's as my surrounds instead of the E5Bi's... Would be a total price difference of $1177 vs $1359..
Also, should I go over the edge and shoot for the E56Ci over the E5Ci?
Any thoughts?

The larger center is a big upgrade. I would go with that for sure with the larger towers.

Anybody have any thoughts on grabbing 4 of the ESBi bookshelves over 2 of the surround sound speakers? Same price and would be 7.1 vs 5.1.. However the surround speakers have two of axis drivers in them so it may be moot..

I have a set of the towers, large center and bipole surrounds in one room, and in another the same setup minus the surrounds ( just using regular bookshelf speakers), there is a huge difference. I will be buying another set of the surrounds for this system.

I may also pick up another set to use as rears in a 7.1 that is already using the dipoles as surround left and right.

I have been looking at emptek for a while now and am thinking about buying the big center and the towers with the deal going on. Right now I have the premier Acoustic PA-8c and PA-8f towers. I was wondering if anyone has ever heard them and also heard the emptek?

How do the EMP55 towers compare to the Paradigm Monitor 9 or 11's or PSB T6? Trying to decide if I should jump on this deal or spend the extra money on the Paradigm or T6 setup as I really like the sound of the Paradigm Monitor line.
