I am curious though as to why the receiver is affecting the signal/tv in this way. Never saw this issue with my older samsung dlp.

I am most likely going to switch this over to hdmi and test the other devices see if i have a greater problem with my receiver vs. The tv.

sounds like a good excuse to get you a new reciever. Cough....onkyo....cough.

1) if you have a 600M and stand, how far is it from the bottom to the edge of the screen? my center channel is around 6" in height, and i'm curious to know if the 600M w/ stand sits too low - read a few posts earlier that suddenly had me wondering.

2) looking to move into new house at the end of this month, and i've read that there's been a lull in available 600M's due to the packaging (fiasco)... from the sound of it, new shipments should be made available soon - think i'll be okay in ordering one at the end of the month (28/29th of may)?

i've been following this thread for quite awhile, and it really does seem like the best 60" HDTV i can get for my 3k budget. thanks man!

you can say that again. who ever thought they could get a 60" plasma for sub 3k in this day and age? much less a kuro!

600M left Pioneer yesterday and will be hitting West Coast Distributors today. East Coast will not have them until end of this week to early next week.

Boy I hope so. I've been waiting a month already.

I hear ya on that one. I have 5 customers who have stuck it out with me since the 25th of March, when this whole fiasco began. I hope to have them delivered by Friday or as early as I can get it to them.

i hear ya man! why i'm stoked on this 600M, even though i've never actually seen it in person... but it's a KURO, and i've seen the 5020/6020's and 141/151's, and the picture they create is simply beautiful.

i'm keeping my options open, but i'm pretty much toggling between the samsung 58B860 and 600M at the moment.

still curious if there's enough room for a 6" center channel if i had the 600M on it's stand. hmmm.

I've been "lurking" on this thread for some time and am ready to pull the trigger on a 600. I can't wall mount and in a effort to save some $ on other "necessary" accesories (Th. seating, receiver etc...) was hoping to buy a furniture type stand with mounting brackets attached. The stand I have my eye on indicates the mounting brackets are up to 36 wide horizontally and up to 18 ¾ long vertically. I'm wondering if anyone knows if that will work?

Thanks much!

Guys,

I am standing at best buy and I am about to buy the 111fd for 2399 until I saw this thread. Obviously dont have the time to scan through this so I am going to ask here:

What is the difference between the 111fd and 101fd? Can both be fully calibrated?

Don't think so on the vertical. Check the brochure and additional info in the first post for the actual mounting hole distances.

Oops! I meant to say 500m not 101. Pretty much the same thing right? I have no need for speakers or tuner or isfcc

500m does not have ISFccc calibration ability and it your decision to decide if its worth it to have the ability to fully calibrate.

Nope, don't need it. I'm pulling the trigger

some have mentioned using a 6020 stand and that will raise it higher then say using the pro151 stand. not sure which stand pioneer has to order for the 600M and how high it gets the bottom of the 600M bezel.

BUT no matter which one you get it would be pretty easy to cut a riser out of wood to match the stand and get it as high as needed to clear your speaker that would sit in front of it. cover it with black cloth or paint it and should just look like the stand and riser are one whole piece.

Hey all,

10 hours into the break-in procedure. The good news, no cracks, no buzzing, no dead pixels. I AM a Deadhead of sorts.
Since there is no ISFccc for this model, I ask those whom have had their monitors calibrated professionally, was it worth it?
I look forward to all views. I have read a portion of this thread in the last 3 weeks or so.
Thanks for all the info

I have an appointment to have my monitor calibrated.... I have come this far....

You think you don't need it, but you really do. Pure mode on the 500/600m is good to have, very accurate colors, good for late night movies, but too dim for sports and daytime viewing. ISFccc gives you more and better options.

I have a 500m, couple of days ago I posted, for a few hundred bucks I wish I had gotten the 111.

...and I stand by that, if the difference between a 500m and 111 is $300-400, I would get the 111 every day of the week and twice on sunday.

dmichael,

You hit on a point that I've been thinking about.

To my eyes, the 6020 looks dim(actually dimmer than my 6070). I understand that the 151 can be made brighter via ISF menu calibration. Is the 600M the same as the 6020 in brightness?
just a question to throw out there. for those who are complaining about the dimness of pure mode,is your viewing area light controlled during the daytime. my viewing area is pretty well controlled without a single ray of sunlight or lamp lighting aiming at the screen. i have two windows on the side wall but the thick blinds pretty much block most of the light. will pure still be a problem?
btw, someone needs to start a settings thread for the krp series. i know there are alot of you that own these sets. i guess the 141 thread will do for now. id do it myself but i havent got my panel yet.
Maybe this was addressed earlier, but I haven't had a chance to read this thread. I have a 600M on order. I already have a full surround sound system, but for "regular" TV viewing, I want to use an external speaker in lieu of the stock Pioneer speakers. VERY IMPORTANT: I want to be able to control the volume using the TV's remote.

I do have an old Infinity Kappa Video speaker that is rated at 25W-150W. I know that the TV's internal amplifier is rated at 9W per channel. Would this speaker work? If not, does anyone have any specific speaker recommendations?

+1 Can't agree more. 2 years warranty (vs. 1), Speakers, Stands (if you don't need them, you can always find buyers on AVS or Ebay), ISFccc. If that's not worth $400 more, I don't know what else ?

The 60 inch is a totally different story.

To me, my 600m seems slightly brighter than the 6020. It is about the same as the non-ISF calibrated 151 (but calibrated on Pure mode) if that make any sense. However, it is strictly my own observation, not scientific or side by side comparison with the 600M.

sorry if the topic was discussed once...........

.......... but would a speaker from a 5020 (unopened) be useful for another 500M owner if they were in the market for a speaker on their new monitor? Could this speaker be used as a center (or main) speaker sitting upon a table instead of attached to the display (like a sound bar) ?

I've never used my speakers from either Kuro 50". I've no idea how good/average/bad they sound, considering they are a stock display speaker.

You should be fine. I have 4 large north facing windows on the left side of my 600M, I only have sheer white curtains on them and I have zero problem with my 600M's brightness. Hope it helps.

Yes, it can be used as a 500m TV speaker. However, I don't think anyone will be satisfied for using it as the main center channel.

Seems like the 600M is harder to get than expected....lots of online stores list it, but no one seems to have it in stock. I know these sets are in VERY short supply, but any ideas on where I can get one or at least the BEST place to get on the list for one?

My one major concern is what to do if the thing arrives and it's cracked? Do you just not accept it and it goes back? In that case, again who pays for the return shipping who's been the best reseller in these cases?

Thanks
