The distributor was Almo Corporation from Philadelphia, PA. The delivery company was New Penn.

My KRP-600M has a manufacture date of January, 2009.

Coincidentally, so did mine when it was delivered today. The unit itself seems fine.

where do you find the manufacturer date?

thx.

The serial number and manufacture date can be found on a label on the side (or top) of the box.

Now it's time to replace that thermostat from the 70's so it doesn't detract from Pio's good looks.

Thank you.

One more thing, when mounted flush with the front the speaker depth matches the 500M. That I did not expect.

I have my 500M coming on Tuesday from Invision. When it first comes, what should a newbie do to make sure the TV reaches its full potential? What should I look out for to make sure the TV wasn't damaged in transit?

Is there a place to answer questions about ISFcc certification?

Thanks.

That is one sweet looking plasma monitor. Awesome job, Rich.

BTW, I just got my 151 speakers today. Tested on my old Pioneer and worked like a charm. Can't wait to get the 600M.

Thanks.

I prefer the M's to the Elites. I do not like the gold lettering, nor do I care for the title

They are thin classy displays. Great picture too.

Time to go back and watch another episode of Dollhouse

I read on another thread that the second letter in the serial number indicates the build month. On mine, it's "J", the 10th letter in the alphabet = October.

On one end of my box, there's a sticker with the serial number and the build date.

This might be a dumb questions, but my fios dvr would be the tuner for the plasma
right. What do you do if you do not have cable or satelite, do they sell a tuner for
over the air television? Can you plug any low wattage speakers into the back of
this plasma? Thanks in advance.

The only one of those questions that I know for sure is that, YES, the FIOS DVR would be the tuner.

i asked local pioneer dealer if he could get me the KRP-600m. he said that he cant because its more for commercial use, and that its throught a different distribution line. the store is a high end store thats been selling elite plasmas for years. i dont get why he cant get the KRP ? anyone.

Pioneer wanted to get these out fast and sent them to distributors for faster sales.

Yes.

See the links in my signature. Both of those products include tuners for over-the-air (OTA) television and will do the following:
  1. record one HD channel while you watch another live on the same box;

  2. record two different HD channels simultaneously, while you watch a third, previously recorded show;

  3. record in high-definition with 100% identical quality to live broadcast;

  4. output in high-definition through component and HDMI;

  5. provide a program guide with program information; and

  6. identify each recording with the program name and description.

Some people are under the impression that you need cable or satellite to do this. That's not the case.

I don't think so. You'd need your own A/V receiver or a HTIB. You would connect the optical audio output from the cable/satelite box or your OTA tuner to the A/V receiver or HTIB. That would supply the power to the speakers.

I am about to buy one of these tomorrow but really need some advice. What speakers should I be looking for on ebay if I am getting a 600? stand?

I am not wall mounting it as the TV will be replacing a sxrd in a unit that I have. The two hdmi inputs are fine, since I will just have a dbs unit and a oppo dvd player (will upgrade to oppo bd when it ships).

If money isn't an issue is this the right unit to buy? Should I go with the 141/151 instead? It looks like this one is just as good at 1800 bucks less.

You won't find neither on ebay if you are looking for the actual 600M OEM accessories. (Speaker Part #: KRP-S02; Stand Part #: PDK-TS01.). However, if you are handy (DIY type), check out how RichB modified the Elite 111 speakers to fit his 500M. You could do the same for the 151 speakers (Part #:SMW2026-A). On the other hand, stand could be a lot riskier (110 lb TV crashing down is pretty serious). So I would NOT recommend using NON-OEM parts.

If money is no issue, go with the 151, not 141 because you seems to need speakers and stand. 151 also have 2 years warranty. ISFccc day, night, auto mode, 2 more HDMI, and tuner. You will receive more support in any online forums because more people have them. The only reason to go with the 600M is price, in my opinion.

Remember, the 600M speakers set is $600 and stand is $400 MSRP alone.
post #438 of 4963
Just bought the 151 speakers for 50 bucks new.

I also forgot to ask, how exactly would you wire this up to a stereo? I don't see and outputs.

I just don't see a need for that many HDMI inputs in a normal environment. My theater setup is Arcam/NHT/B&W rears so it is low end of the higher end. So for movies that is what I will use. The wife would use the speakers.

as bkdtv mentions it should be on the label located on one side of the box it came in. also printed on the label placed on the rear of the panel with the serial number and power usage figures.

unbox it and check the screen with a flashlight for cracks. then plug it in and power it on to make sure it's not doa.

if the screen is cracked you will get a really loud buzzing sound and nothing on screen.

the M models do not have the ISFccc feature, that is only on the Elite and Signature models. IF you mean ISF certified tech for a calibration then check the calibration forums or avs member htwaits keeps a link in his sig to a list of avs members who have had their sets calibrated that would be a good reference as well as the link in Turbe's sig to calibrators who use ControlCal for the Pioneer Elites and non elites.

??? The 600M should come with speaker cables (special designed for the M-series amp. plug). You can just wire them to your 151 speakers.

yes, the glass panels and all other pieces are shipped in from Japan (+ other countries) to the US Kuro assembly plant in California. So any cracked panel damage is being done between the CA assembly plant to the distributor warehouses and then the shipping companies to your homes.

I live in Bangkok, Thailand. Do you think it is ok to import the 600m from usa as it may have difference firmware that the one selling here. Price in Bangkok is so absurb at us$8,000 (and this is after a big discount). What are the important points that I should consider. Is the ********** online a good place to order?
Thanks,

The way they are showing up left and right, with cracked/broken panels after a short trip of just a few hundred miles of shipping throughout the US. About last thing I would even think about doing, is to even consider something like shipping one from the US to a country even so much further away like Thailand.
post #446 of 4963
As one of the receivers of a broken one, I am going to have to agree with that. That would be a very long journey and would take some miracles to arrive safely.

heres one for the pros. can a calibration be done on a KRP with calcontrol, or some other means. or is it what you see is what you get.

I have been looking for a tabletop stand that will fit the KRP-500M, and most stores I talked to no longer has the KRP-TS02 in stock.

I was looking around today, and I saw a picture of an owner selling his 111FD. In the picture, the tabletop stand box clearly shows the model # as PDK-1016.

I know someone has confirmed that stands for 111FD will work for 141FD. Therefore, I am wondering if the PDK-1016 will work for the KRP 500M as well.

I just did a quick check on the 600M stand, and I believe the PDK-TS01 is the stand for the 50" monitors. The correct OEM stand for the 600M is KRP-TS01.

As far as 60" stands go, I believe I read somewhere that the 151 stand fits the 141. If that's the case, then any 60" stand should fit the 600M... It's just a matter of sourcing the stand at this point in time.

If anyone has any comments, feel free to share.
