The OOTB settings are day and night difference (no pun intended) from D-Nice's 500m and 600m settings. I didn't even use the OOTB at first, I did Pure right away. I had done the 600m Pure settings posted on this site on component was very impressed with TDK. The tunnel scene is a good test - lots of darkness mixed in with light.
However, I switched to HDMI and forgot the Pure setting wasn't done. I was not impressed and thought something was wrong. Sure enough, looked at my settings and forgot they are for each connection. So I dialed in Pure, and bam, wicked picture back. Deep color and 24p helps too.
The OOTB Pure are way too dark and washed out, so that isn't a good comparison.
The Curious Case of Benjamin Button is another great movie to watch. Lots of great lighting. That was filmed using the newest cutting edge digital technology. Watch the making of - you'll be blown away how tech it is.
