Bright pixel on Samsung series 6 - please help

Hi all

First time poster.

I have a "bright" or "stuck" pixel toward the bottom right hand corner of my LE40A656. It's basically just one pixel which always glows white, no matter what the rest of the screen is showing.

It's clear from close up, and I've now convinced myself that I can see it against dark scenes from my normal viewing distance of 6 - 7 feet. Whether I actually can or not is another matter, but it's becoming an issue as instead of enjoying my set I sit through movies constantly looking at the corner to see if I can see it! Sad I know....

The set is four months old. The manual has some blurb about a few bright / dead pixels not constituting a fault, and not affecting performance. However, I don't agree - this was a mid to high end set when purchased, and I don't think it's acceptable.

So, what's people's views on this issue?
- Should I make a fuss with the retailer / Samsung?
- If either of them are willing to help, is there anything they can do to fix it short of replacing the screen?
- Is there anything I can do to sort the issue? I'd heard about computer programmes that rapidly flash changing colours?

Sorry for the long post, but views / guidance are appreciated!

Samsung (and all LCD manufacturers) have policies regarding dead/stuck pixels. You need at least X amount of bad pixels in a certain area. Check samsung.com for their policy; not too many companies I know will replace a panel with just one bad pixel, it's common with lcd technology.

if every company had to throw out a display with 1 bad pixel, they'd be out of business.

Stuck pictures are normal on LCDs. You have no recourse with the manufacturer.

Thanks for replying. As long as it's normal I'll be able to stop worrying about it. It was the feeling that there was something "wrong" with my set that was getting to me.

Thanks

stuck pixel is NOT normal, yes it happens on lcd's but it definitely is not normal. But like THEANSWER-03 said, every manufacturer have their own policies regarding dead pixels. I think it has to be a certain amount of dead pixels before they replace your panel. I have fixed stuck pixels in the past by rubbing them (do it at your own risk).

Sorry to inform Fabbas01, but you are DEAD wrong.
1) Everyone is correct that dead pixels happen.
2) LCD would cost $10K+ if no dead pixels were allowed.
3) There are OEM LCD manufacturers defect criteria for dead pixels (not TV mfgs)
4) Dead pixels are dead. They are caused by dead transistors.
5) There is no bring back dead transistors. One can rub "sticking" pixels but they are not technically dead.
6) "Normally black" displays will make a dead pixel black and not stuck in a "on" or color position.
7) Still, there are a variety of other defects such as torn or missing color filters that can make a permanent clear or white pixel; although technically they are only a portion of a sub-pixel.

But in all fairness to Fabbas01, LCD TV set manufacturers (not the OEM LCD guys) and many retailers take back anything for almost any reason. You should at least ask if the defect bothers you.

ummm are you serious? dead pixels are a defect. I agree that it happens, and manufacturers have a set criteria on how many pixels need to be stuck or dead before they replace the panel. That is far from saying that it is normal, and its not a defect.
