2009 Panasonic 12G Plasma Line-Up - Page 2

post #31 of 3995
If I'm reading that right all the plasmas have NEO tech except for the 720p models?

They are not equal or better. Still an improvement over the current 11G Panasonics.

Same as current on some models and slightly worse on others.

On par with whats available today from Panasonic.

Depends on the model. Overall, they are the same as what's available in the current Panasonic lineup.

Motion resolution is definitely improved and welcomed.

Compete, sure. Equal or surpass, not from what I have seen on the back end.

Cool. Thanks for breakdown. Pricing? Anything right now?

That's to be expected due to the price point...

Yep. I'll hold my final judgement until I get a review sample

Some pictures of the Z1:

The large box is the tuner and the small box is the transmitter.

The 50pz80u goes for a little more than $1200. Doubt anything will be close to that at the beginning.
post #39 of 3995
will samsung have something like the neo 5 lumen tech?

Do these panels use the dynamic black layer?
post #41 of 3995
So, it appears that they will not have this, super thin, .33inch model available in 2009?

I sure would love to see them name it their Panorexia model.

D-Nice,

What do they mean by "infinite black panel", while coupling it with 40,000:1 Native Contrast Ratio?

"Contrast Ratio: Native
40,000:1/Infinite Black
Panel"

Even if it's brushed silver and not just cheap painted plastic, I hope you're right. I'd never drop that much money on a silver TV.

What happened to that Panasonic with the nice, dark, brushed metal frame at CEDIA?

Different strokes I guess, I think the brushed metal (aluminum?) look rocks.
And a bonus --finally side mounted removable speakers.
post #46 of 3995
To bad the rumored 80 inch looks like a no show

Randy,

They state on their website:

http://panasonic.net/avc/viera/

That availability of models and colors may differ, depending on the country. Let us hope that they consign the Silver to Europe or Asia.

That could only mean one thing -- they're worse.

Panasonic's 2009 PDP technology can't even get its black levels to be at the very least equal to its competitor's 2007 PDP technology?
post #49 of 3995
Ahhrg....this is killing me. I am so ready to pull the trigger on the 50" 800u (if Costco.com ever gets them back in stock) but now I just don't know!
post #50 of 3995
I can't say I am feeling the silver look of the Z1 either. I realize that it is real metal instead of cheap electroplated plastic this time around, but it's still just too much brightwork for my tastes. And with the speakers detached, it really looks out of balance with the black on the sides and silver on the top and bottom. Here's hoping for an all black model with the metal pieces powdercoated black instead of just brushed.

Did I get This Correct? Took It From The Golbal Site.

PX80 = X Series 42" 50"
720P 600Hz Sub Field Drive
Contrast Ratio 30,000:1
PC Input
Ultra Tough Panel Glass
100,000 Hour Panel

PZ80 = S Series 42" 46" 50" 54"
ADDS:
1080p 600Hz Sub Field drive
Contrast Ratio 40,000:1

PZ85 = G Series 42" 46" 50" 54"
ADDS:
THX
Deep Color
X.V. Color
Viera Cast (Internet Connection)

PZ800 = V Series 50" 54" 58" 65"
ADDS:
24p Cinematic Playback
1 Extra Rear HDMI Input
BBE Viva HD 3D Sound
One-Piece Glass Design
Takes Off The Game Mode

PZ850 = Z Series 54"
Wireless Connection
Viera Link With Camera Function
Ultra Thin 1 Inch Design
Takes Off Ultra Tough Panel Glass
Takes Off 100,000 Hour Panel
Takes Off One-Piece Glass Design

Again it looks like no Quality Sound in any 42 Inch Model, SHAME ON YOU Panasonic because a lot of 42" models will never be hooked up to a Surround Sound System. Also I hope the Z Series is not going to be SILVER, din't we get away from that damn color & now they have to bring it back?

What Happened to P-I-P a perfect match if you want to keep your eye on the baby with the camera & watch a TV program at the same time.

Looks about right!

About where I got to. More interested in the 65" - well anything bigger - but tired of waiting. And god knows I have been through more TV's than carter has pills.

So now begins the waiting game - how adjustable and is the PQ gonna be somewhat close to the kuros. The latest pioneer elite is pretty darn near brilliant - just want the size. For me there is a big difference betwen 60 and 65....

Ah....another 6 months of waiting....
post #54 of 3995
It must be a mistake that the S series doesn't have Deep Color and x.v. Color, because even 2008's lowly PX80U has it.

Hey D-Nice,

What about white level?!
To me, this has always been the Achilles heel of all PDPs (except for the '07 Fujitsu's, but the 50" could pop a 15A breaker if the screen ever went 100% white for more than a few seconds)
If these NeoPDP panels can truly achieve a 50-100% increase in light output, then this could be the biggest improvement in plasma panels since the advent of the Pioneer FHD-1.

Well you are going to pay north of $7k-$8k or more for NeoPDP 65". Most people don't have that type of cash laying around, better yet credit cards to run up.

That pricing sounds high by at least $3k, especially for the 65" S10 model. DNice seemed to say prcing would be impressive above, I take that to mean low.

Ya think that high? Hmmmm....Well still lower than what I budgeted two years ago looking at 65". In the meantime have more tv's (and warranties - thanks Chris!!!) than the difference in price.

Either way - have to get "the" tv in this year. HT finished, all other rooms are filled up and PJ in place - so the last two years of savings (unfortunatley invested) will have to be put to use before the SO finds another use.

This year it is!

I doubt that, the EPP price is under 5K for the 65.
Production costs are down with NEO PDP. Price them that high in this economy and you might as well not build them.

I also noted only one 50" panel is a single sheet of glass.
At least that shows they know how to make them.

Where is my 85"?
