Well DUH, I wasn't saying he could buy it there now, I was just showing him what an awesome deal he obviously missed by not stocking up on them when they were available at that price, whenever that happened to be!

Sorry, my bad. Since I wasn't actually buying, I didn't pay attention to those minor details (no buy it button, and marked ended as of 9/14). So to guitarlp $40 is probably the best you're going to do within the week. I think the $30 deals have come up 2 or 3 times in the last year, so wouldn't be surprised to see them available at that price again before the end of the year.

Controller (white) + Viva Pinata Party Animals - $29.99

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....=1218031265657

This is actually a pretty good deal, just for the controller. Party animals is a pretty fun game for kids. You might be able to find it at a local store.

party animals is a mario kart type game with mario party type mini games mixed in, i found it enjoyable and most the achievements were very easy.... that said i paid $10 at target, and the wife and i had some fun together for a couple nights.

The Toy'R US deal is still probably better, but Amazon dropped the price of Halo: ODST to $50 and you still get the $10 video game credit. If you pre-ordered from Amazon you might want to double check to make sure they lower your order total.

From the Major's mouth to some one's wallet... Buy an elite between today and October 5th and get $50 back from Microsoft. Combine this with the Dell deal and you can get an Elite for about the same price as an Arcade.

I can't read this from work, can anyone give me details? I literally just ordered one from Dell on Saturday , and it's probably already shipped... am I out of luck?

looks like it.... you'll have to return/rebuy

If you’ve purchased a new console and want to claim your $50 rebate, follow all of the steps below:

  1. Visit the Xbox 360 Elite Console rebate site.
  2. Enter 49710555 as your password.
  3. Be sure that you meet all the requirements as defined in the Mail-in Rebate form.
  4. Your mailed-in submission must be postmarked no later than November 20, 2009.
And enjoy your new Xbox 360 Elite Console

Well that would seal the deal for me. ~$200 for a brand new 120GB Elite is probably too good to pass up. Although I do despise mail-in-rebates, and something tells me there is a good chance MS would deny the rebate through Dell.

I posted this in the "worried about ODST' thread:

So here is the best deal for all you complaining that the ODST is 'not worth it'.

take your copy of Halo 3 to TrU. they are buying used games : http://www.toysrustradeincenter.com/...hstring=halo+3

The current TiV (trade-in value) is $20. They give you a gift card. go buy ODST for $59.99, and get anoter gift card for $20. If your lucky, they may still have a ODST figuring worth $11.99 (I got one, now I have to buy another otherwise my kids are going to fight over it).

Thus if you never play Halo 3 campaign, the cost of ODST will end up being very cheap ($59.00 - $20 GC - $20 TiV Halo 3 +/- value of Mytic map pack, and legenday map pack +/- ODST rookie figurine). The game is almost free in that case.

No excuses anymore, go out and get ODST......

Does anyone know if Best Buy will refund/re-ring the Elite I bought last week with out taking it back? I'm still with in the 30 day window for returns.

you could do a return/rebuy... could be as simple as bringing the box and receipt in, or as difficult as packing it all up and bringing it all in, depending on the manager, i'd give them a call.

I had to have Amazon call me for this. This wasn't applied automatically for me.

UPDATE: Just got an email with the rebate. So no call is necessary.

I got your this message from you on XBL this morning and have forwarded it to about 5 friends. I had no interest in ODST, now I might pick it up. I never really play Halo 3 anymore but for that price...maybe. And if I do buy it I might consider selling you my action figure cheap! :P

I can't find the Elite on the Dell website now. I almost bought one a few days ago and was ready to do it with the Microsoft $50 rebate but does that mean they are out of stock?

Nice "logic" there, but in the real world you're still paying $40 + tax for what should have been free DLC.

DLC? Maybe. Free? HIGHLY doubtful...

Should have been? Yeah, all DLC should be free, but unfortunately that's not likely to change.

call them. They should let you backorder over the phone. They were going to let me do that last week but then they were back in stock on the website so it was unnecessary. I may call them to see if they will work out something with a return/rebill so I can get the rebate. My elite just came yesterday. Didn't open it so I don't know for sure if it's a jasper yet.

Bungie never said it would be free. The only thing that ever came out was that they had planned an 'expansion pack' for $39.99 which would have included a new campaign, and maybe a new game mode (firefight). In actual fact, most retailers (BB/amazon/trU) etc, have all been giving gift cards/discounts. Thus the projected price of $40 is the street price for 'most' people. For people like me, that bever bought the map packs, this is a great deal. I actually had 2 copies of Halo 3, so selling one back for $20 made the deal even better as Halo 3 multiplayer is on a separate disc. (I almost guareentee that the last 3 maps of the mythic set will be sold on live for 800 MS points in the near future, thus there is another $10 saved).
I appreciate you posting the deal.

I would have never known they gave you $20 for Halo 3. I owned 1 map pack, but oh well. I traded in Halo 3 and another game to get it for $20, and walked out with a $20 GC. Works for me - keeps me entertained for cheap until MW2.

All of Amazon's gold box deals today are going to be game related...

And where's tronn?

Of course they didn't. It doesn't change the fact that ODST should have been free. Bungie is the anti-Valve.
Yeah, free! Because the people who made it shouldn't be paid for their work. It's not like they're normal people, with families, homes, and car payments.

It's so stupid to have to pay for anything.

Valve isn't even Valve anymore. Claiming MS is making them charge for the L4D DLC. How did Criterion release so much BP for free?

Actually Amazon had the best deal by far. There was a deal that came out just before launch day that had a code that gave you an extra $5 on the $10 game credit. So I canceled my preorder and then redid it the code and got the $15 game credit. On top of the free release day shipping and the Sgt Johnson code. Then I saw the price drop and I was like...That sucks but I wanted it release day. So I went to email them to ask them if they could possible do something for me since the price did drop but I couldn't. They had already emailed me informing me they were going to credit me the $9 price drop. I <3 Amazon.
