Not sure when this was announced, but Assassin's Creed 2 will be the free Gold game for July 16-31.

Probably my favorite of the AC games, and a great place to start if you've never bothered with the series. The first one isn't nearly as good.
I just started playing AC3 because I love the revolutionary war time period. That said, I'm finding myself getting bored with it. Perhaps I should wait to do 2 first then go to 3?
If you are bored with the 3rd, you won't come close to completing the first game, it is cool but repetitive in an almost absurd way. This has long been the criticism of the series, but one is probably the 'most tedious' of the bunch.

The first big part of AC3 (5 hours or so?) is confusing - they throw a bunch of plot changes and game mechanics at you, but there's not much play time. It eventually opens up and becomes an Assassin's Creed game - probably one of the best of the series if you stick with it. A lot of the best gameplay is in many of the side missions.

Those first few hours they throw so much at you without really explaining the implications of it. And none of it is even remotely necessary to complete the game, I thought everything beyond the sea missions (which were awesome) were just pointless time wasters. AC2 and Brotherhood were comparatively much more straightforward, and those 5-6 side dungeons that took like a half hour to run through were some of the best parts of the entire series. I feel like the series peaked at brotherhood and its kind of lost its way after that. I hope they remove a ton of mechanics from black flag and keep it focused.

I would definitely start with AC2 over 3.

Day 3

Witcher 2 $9.99
Forza Horizon $14.99
Left 4 Dead 2 $9.99
The Orange Box $4.99
Crysis 3 $19.99
I might actually pick up Forza for that price. I didn't mind the demo but I'm not a huge fan of open world arcade racers.

I had Orange Box on disk and enjoyed Portal, but never made it all the way through Half Life 2 before giving up on the game. Didn't even bother with Team Fortress after hearing all the complaints about the Xbox version vs. the Steam version. For $5 I might grab it again though.

Team Fortress is a fun game. I never played the PC version so I cant compare. It can get frustrating at times but I guess any game can.

Thanks!! I I just purchased Forza Horizon and The Orange Box. Although I think I have the Orange Box set around somewhere, but for $5 I figure I would try it out again.

But it might turn out like Perfect Dark Zero did for me. I purchased that for $3. I have the game on disc somewhere and remember playing it when it first came out and really enjoying it. But it has not aged well. I felt sick trying to play it since the motion wasn't fluid. But it was a blast from the past. Until I looked at it I never thought about how much improved the games are now from seven or eight years ago.

My quick reading of the 7/7 Best Buy ad makes it look like I could buy Deadpool and Tomb Raider for $100 and get a $50 Best Buy card too. Anyone else read it that way?...

I read it the same way. Not a bad deal at all. Plus they have 100% trade-in bonus for video games this week as well. If you could beat any of those games within the week you could potentially get $70+ in gift certificates.
Thanks for posting. Picked up a couple of games. I'm bummed because I traded in a game on Friday and it was 50% extra credit. Had I known about the 100% this week I would have waited and got the extra $6. frown.gif

Thats happened to me before. I saw the newspaper ad on Wed and thought to bad I only have 1 game left to trade in for this deal.

The folks at the Best Buy customer service desk agreed too, and said they'd make it work even if the register wasn't programmed that way.

HOWEVER, the 4 remaining copies of Deadpool were not anywhere I could find them, and I didn't have time to wait while somebody poked around. So I left, and will rethink what to get. I might go with Deadpool and Far Cry 3 if they are in-stock and findable. I already did most of Tomb Raider as a rental and buying it would just be encouragement to make another one. Never played a Far Cry game so that'd be new territory, which sounds good...

Ya, for some reason I have noticed that base trade in values magically go down by 50% when the 100% bonuses come along, no joke.
They aren't stupid! biggrin.gif I traded in Gears - Judgment. It's still showing $12 so it hasn't changed with the increase to 100% extra credit.

Dishonored on sale for $20 on XBL. Haven't played it yet myself, but I bought it on Steam a while back and am about to start playing it.

My local Target has the 4gb 360 for $179.

Defiance has dropped to 19.99

Amazon, Best Buy and Gamestop

I liked the demo but it wasn't good enough for full price.

But I really enjoyed the show and would like to see how they incorporate the two.
With the second season already announced should see more content to last a while.
Not the greatest deal, but you can get GTA IV for $9.99 this week if you are a gold member. The dlc is also on sale this week.
Kinect X Box system has dropped from $299 to 279, Bestbuy, & Walmart
post #3780 of 4167
Toys R Us has the Diablo 3 Pre-Order for $44.95.
