the manual warns about static images early in the tv's life, ok, it may not be like it used to be, but i plan on gaming on this tv, maybe not for 4+ hours at a time, but i still would prefer to take the cautious approach...instead of being sorry i didn't later.

this is my 1st plasma purchase, and i dont have $ for another one, so i want to make sure i can enjoy it for a long time.

besides, the benefits of breaking it in are apparently not just in helping prevent IR or BI but in getting a better PQ

I'm waiting too. I haven't panicked with the break in or settings for the first 150-200 hrs like others but I have to admit the kids playing Just Dance on the WII has me nervous.

I recommend simply doing a search for "plasma_break-in_v120.1.zip" and checking the results.

Would using colorful landscape images be the same as using color slides?

Yes. And any full screen content will work just as well. Some folks on this thread suffer OCD regarding the use of slides.

What are the settings to be used when viewing these break-in slides for the slideshow? Would I use Dnice's slideshow settings for these?

Thanks.

It's at your discretion what you use, but DNice's settings have been used very frequently and with positive results. With my first plasma I simply watched 16:9 content, and when gaming kept my HUD's to a minimum for a period of time. With my newest plasma I used the slides for about 75 hours, using D-Nice's settings. I still see some image retention here and there, but nothing that concerns me. Even my old plasma still showcases light image retention here and there - but it always fades.

Google 'D-Nice break-in and calibration procedure tc-p65vt30'; it will be found on another forum. He gives you everything you need to break-in the set and gives calibration settings once completed. Btw, there is a download for recommended slides as well (Just download to USB or SD card). Good luck!

i downloaded the slides from the link above and i am running the d nice settings.

nothing more to it than that right? running 24/7 for 100-200 hours.

Okay I understand.
I am running d nice break in settings with the downloaded color slides.

Then I can can my settings after to the other d nicd settings.

Is there still a period of time not to play HUD games and or watch movies our TV with the black bars, or can I feel free to do as I wish after break in slides?

Hi everyone,
I get lot of useful information from this forum, but still want to know more about PDP break-in (Panasonic TX-P42G30E). I've read most of the threads but I'm looking for Webapalooza' article explaining the color theory and methodology behind the break-in set of 120 images. Does anybody has this article or link to it?

Thanks in advance

Greetings from Poland to all of you

You need to go to high def junkies dot com, can't post a link- not allowed, and join. Then in the forums scroll down to D-Nice display settings and in the 2012 thread it's in the first post.

Are these images meant for image retention 'run-in' during first 1000 hours (limiting black bars to 25% of material)
or
just for phosphor aging precalibration?

are static images ok for running image retention run in or should it be full motion video (1000 hours run in IR resistance) ?

Downloaded the webapalooza from the web and filled my computer with Malware - beware!
Have the file after all the cleanup - will check out.
