Minimum speaker distance from 36 inch CRT HDTV?

Hey everyone, I have a 36 inch CRT HDTV (Sony KD-36XS955) with a couple of Polk bookshelf speakers connected through a separate receiver. The speakers are mounted 2 feet away from the TV on each side. Is that too close to the TV? The speakers have a bit of noise going through them and I live in an older house with wonky aluminum wiring so I'm just trying to narrow down the cause of the noise.

Any and all suggestions are welcome!

No, the TV shouldn't be the cause. If the speakers were positioned too close you would've gotten color distortion on the TV because of the magnets, but i don't think the set could cause noise in the speakers.
