I read that to get a HD you need to go into there is a menu and use a set up wizard is that true? I have timew warner cable

Many cable companies have the SA4250HDC set up by default to output 480i so they will work on SD systems. If your cable installer did not go through the setup to allow 720p and/or 1080i output, you would need to do this to get true HD.

FWIW, most of the Satellite Providers do the same thing.

I know how to go into the menu and do this but the PDF file in the link above has a whole bunch of diffrent instructions.
