Blu Ray Subtitles in Zone B

Dear All,

Since Blu Ray is divided into three zones, I was wondering if all the subtitle languages of that particular zone (B in my case) are available on every disc.
My future player (ordered it one week ago) has also BD-Live access.

No, the language options are entirely up to the distributor and not directly linked to region codes / zones in any way. Usually country specific releases by smaller distributors have only language options for that country and sometimes English. Some big Hollywood studios use the same disc images in many countries and then they may have lots of language options on the discs.

No, not on every disc. There are huge differences. Some Region B discs with US movies don't even have english subtitles, only french or german. Some french releases have forced french subtitles with the (original) english audio track.

You really have to check that thoroughly before ordering a disc from another country.

Unfortunately, the subtitle selection is frequently used to target a disc to one national market only, and subtiles interesting for other countries are deliberately omited. These things tend to happen when the right holder granted seperate licences to different labels in each country (UK, Germany, France). Benelux releases are often best equipped with subtitles.
