Can you tell me where exactly you have your tissue paper?
The sensor is somewhere on the left
That's as close as I got to finding a location. I held the remote right up to the front of the moxi pushing buttons while trying to cover areas of the front with my hand. The remote worked when pointing to nearly any spot on the left side of the box, but just about nowhere on the right side. I thought about trying to remove the front faceplate to find it and then test without what I think is the problem (the front glossy faceplate), but the tissue paper worked well enough that I didn't bother.
The tissue paper right now covers the entire front of the moxi
Not acceptable for many, but function vs. looks? Function wins for me. Perhaps black tissue paper could be used and it would be less noticeable. With more testing, the location of the sensor probably could be found.
There is a definite improvement with the tissue paper. If I remove it, remote response is terrible - probably 50% of button presses are recognized. When I put it back, remote response is probably 90%+.
