It's not the TV's fault the PS3 doesn't scale games
, and all high quality TVs will do the same, so I'm not sure why you are blaming this particular model of TV. This TV will display the games with sharp edges because its displaying accurate pixels. Standard-def gaming hid the "jaggies" because of lower resolution -- this is high-def gaming and things will look sharper.
Speaking of high-def gaming... most games are at 720p, and the jaggies are barely visible at this resolution. If jaggies on a PS3 via HDMI "kills" gaming for you, then your standards are a lot more sensitive than most people or you have your nose pressed against the screen.
Lastly, a 720p game scaled to 1080p on an Xbox360 versus the same game displayed at 720p native on a PS3 looks pretty much identical on this set, at least to me. I've done a lot of comparison between titles on the 360 and the PS3 via demos, rentals, etc, and there's very little graphical differences that I can find.
Of course, YMMV.
play a game like madden 09 or if you dont have it then download the demo...
put game mode on and see how the jaggies around the players facemask and body make the game look to weird..
i am not the only one that notices this things..in game forums across the net is a known fact that most people put sharpness down to the single digits because of that issue..
not saying all games do have this issue but the ones i like do...
i have a plasma from panny and i dont see any input lag on that model when i play my ps3 or 360 and i dont have to use the game mode...
if i cant control sharpness which you cannot on the game mode and it is set to 50 then is no good for me at least
when you rename hdmi 2 to pc you cant control sharpeness but look at the details in that compare to the 50 setting in game mode which you can see the effect of it...
it just looks horrible...maybe you are not a serious gamer therefore you think it looks great..
but none of the forums for gaming that i go to which is a ton...you never have people use game mode
i also have an older samsung from 2 years ago that has game mode and that one allows you to modify game mode which was great but now you cant
put madden on game mode and then take off game mode and put sharpness at around 10 and tell me you dont see that sharpness at 10 makes the game look that much better....
