New Sanyo HD camcorders 1920x1080 60p - Page 17

JokJok, have you tried to upload some 1080P samples? Your other submissions were interlaced. Thanks.

since EIS is next to nothing(less than 10% correction), shall we turn it off for good to achieve best quality?

Odd question here...when you guys bought your new FH1, was the box sealed from Sanyo? Meaning was there a seal on the box so that it could not be opened until the consumer got it? ...or could you just open the box right away without breaking any type of seal?

Also, how about the packing? Were the manuals loose in the box or in a plastic wrap of some sort?

Thanks for chiming in here.

I don't remember as to the manuals. I think most of them were loose in the top. As to the tape, there was some tape on the box. However that could easily be replaced. I ordered mine through amazon just last week for a decent deal, and you wouldn't have to worry about those issues.

Which submissions?
I've upload some 1080p clip in another forum, not here...

However I'm back from a short vacancy and I'll post some 1080p clip in the next days.

Best regards,
Jok

Just ordered a FH1 today after I purchased both a Sony HDR-CX100 and Canon HF200...

Didn't even consider the Sanyo until reading this Thread and this one..

Lucky you! Most of us have just one camcorder to play around with and may be biased with what we have. Since you are in this privileged position, do give us a comparative report on the three camcorders. If you can get a Panasonic as well, then you can give us a complete user impression of the top 4 consumer camcorder brands in the market rather than just commercial reviews. (Actually top 3 plus Sanyo, don't know what position Sanyo is in!) Your report is eagerly awaited.

Could someone with a FH1 please upload a sample direct from the camera?, filmed at 720p 30fps, a one minute clip would be great.

Thanks.

Ok, got the FH1 yesterday, had a little bit of time to try it today connected via HDMI to my Pioneer 9G PRO-141FD. I can't get the camera to send live video at anything other than 1080i (not 1080p60, not 720p)... I still don't have a new SDHC card (should have been here today) so I don't even have a card in there yet (could put a smaller one in I guess). EDIT: NVM, I figured it out, the option is buried in the menu structure..

Very comfortable to hold unlike the crappy Sony HDR-CX100, I personally like the type of lens cap on the Sanyo and dislike the type Sony used (terrible IMO).

Never read anything about the Sanyo having voice prompts either.

btw, I did have AC connected (noticed issues sending live video on battery).

Well, twice now, this camera has corrupted my 16gb adata sdhc card. Anyone know an application that can recovery mp4 properly? I used CardRecovery and it recovered all the files as .mov, obviously this is incorrect.

I'm really at a loss, this is heartbreaking to me as the footage was amazing...
Well, it could be the Adata card itself...
Im not ruling it out but I really think its user error. I set the camera to play mode, watched videos, then plugged it into usb and selected card reader mode. Windows explorer locked up immediately, and restarted, and finally it gave a hard drive time out error.

Anyhow, CardRecovery recovered every file, but it thinks they are .MOV instead of MP4, so this leads me to believe the data can be recovered with the right software. Has anybody used a program that can recover MP4 properly?

A-Data = B-A-Data. The quality of their products is questionable. Try a different brand if you want proven reliability and a well-built product. Sandisk or Lexar would be my only recommendations unless you want to spring for a Panasonic SDHC card.

Have you tried changing the extension of the recovered files from .MOV to .MP4 and try to play back on the FH1? It may or may not work but no harm trying. Good luck!

any update from the users ? How are you guys liking HD200/FH1 ? Any concerns or complains ? Also, any new video posts ?

Just posted my first video on Vimeo here, http://vimeo.com/5432398 from my recent holiday in Turkey.

Quite happy with my HD2000. Other than the comparatively poor EIS, the autofocus can sometimes be slow, more so in lowlight. Also seems to have more flares than normal. Are other owners finding the same issues? Cannot really complain for the price I paid.

I saw that video couple of days back when I looking for videos on google. Video looks decent but its not something that make you think that its HD. I'm not sure if its Vimeo's compression or the video itself. Since you must have taken a lot of videos in Turkey, could you post some more ?

Also, how was your experience with the stabilization ? Is it really non-existent like many reviews complained ?

Since I only have the free Vimeo account, I can only post one HD video per week so I'll post a composite one later taken in good outdoor lights. Maybe it's the lighting that made it looked not HD, I dunno.
Some shots look very steady while some are shaky so maybe the IS is working but not effectively enough, depending on how steady is the hold. It is worse while zooming out.

I posted another composite video of my recent trip on Vimeo, this time taken in better light outdoor.

http://vimeo.com/5500486

Does the video quality look better than the one in indoor light, apart from the shakiness? This was taken in 1920x1080, 30p and uploaded to Vimeo directly so I do not know if the conversion does anything to the video. Comments are welcomed.

The strobing in the whirling seems to be unrelated to the flashes. Your wife should not zoom in/out as much;-).

Thanks for the suggestion but try telling that to your wife! Just kidding. That's her style and it would be more interesting (though more shaky) but as the editor, I can cut some of it out where necessary.

Anyone heard of any firmware updates for these camcorders yet?

Thanks for the video. This one looks much better than the one before. I'll be receiving my FH1 tomorrow and I'm planning to take it with me on a trip to NY next week. Will post my impressions (and videos if possible), when I get a chance.

With that said, with the recent announcement of flash based cam from Sony, I'm having a hard time deciding whether to keep FH1 or return it and wait for the Sony.

Well, that's the part that makes deciding difficult otherwise if the price was same, I would have picked up Sony without thinking about it twice
post #507 of 791
Well 1000 is not 3 x 430,- plus 2 x 16 gig SDHC, but two times;-).

I am the same, a novice, so the Canon HF11 wobbles all over the place as well. We did get a cheapish Velbon tripod to compensate, but handheld is extremely wobbly and shaky, wouldn't know what to do with the even poorer stabilisation in the Sanyo.

That Manfrotto monopod, carbon fiber telescope that shoves in quite small does look really nice, with a tiny tripod at the bottom, but it's 130 euro.

Have her watch this, that pistolgrip, with the thin lens allows for a very light grip impossible with regular shape camcorders. http://www.vimeo.com/1469722

Might also want to consider a clamp and ball head for steady shots in addition to a tripod. Costs about $20 for the clamp and you can get a cheap $15 ball head since the FH1 is so small. Clamps to just about anything vertical, horizontal, or at an angle. Table, post, railing, chair, etc.. Works great for when you don't want/need to pan.

The moustache needs a lapel mic. No need for the shouting or the noisy airco.
