Heat Comparison Yamaha 663 and Pioneer 1018

I am deciding between the Yamaha 663 and Pioneer 1018, and was wondering if any members can give me info on the heat output of the two, from personal experience.
I am placing the receiver on a stand that is wide open on the sides and back, but will have a glass shelf about 2 inches above the top of the receiver.
Any advice/experience would be appreciated. I currently have a Sony str-845 and have never had any heat issues. I want to upgrade to all HDMI and also the Sony is starting to click off on me.
Thanks..

Neither one of these receivers have had any reports of abnormal heating issues. As long as your open to the sides and have that clearance on top with good airflow you should be ok. If you do find it problematic, which is doubtful, you can purchase an in inexpensive modded PC fan from places like buyextras.com, coolerguys.com or ebay.

As long as it's not a Harman Kardon, or an Onkyo, you're fine.

I've owned both, and both are great receivers for the money. The 1018 barely gets warm at all, and the 663 stays even cooler than that.
