HDMI cable malfunction?

I have a 6 ft HDMI cable connecting a DirecTV HD20 to an Onkyo TX-SR506. The TV is SamsungLN-52A750R1F. It's worked perfectly for 6 months but I have recently been getting a mode not supported error while trying to watch the DVR. The SamsungDVD-1080P8 works fine. The audio comes in fine.

The picture returns but only when I wiggle the cable around. The components were installed in an entertainment center that has very tight quarters. I can't see if the cable is kinked or if a component is sitting on it.

Could the cable have gone bad? Could the positioning of the cable be the problem?

Just get a new cable and try it. Sometimes that happens and it can indeed be the connection with the cable.

I had the same problem, and a new cable fixed it. Just hope it isn't the port on your receiver or DVR.

Oh and try not to put too much stress on the ports. Perhaps portsavers could help... or not, depending on the configuration of your setup.
